  1. McGhee said afterwards on Radio Scotland that Clarkson had a dead leg and he didn't want to risk him with next week in mind.

    Vs Kilmarnock

2-1 to us with us taking a 2-0 lead only to allow them back into things late on and sneak a goal to give us the usual nervous finish. I'll take any sort of win, I hate Killie.

    Dundee Utd

After losing our unbeaten run in our last game, this game today was crucial for us so that is a BIG three points we've picked up there.

    Dundee Utd

CLARKY SCORES!!!!!!!!! 2-1 edit: Levein spewing about it by the sounds of things as Utd were denied a free kick at the other end just beforehand. GIRUY

    Vs Hearts

Gutting to lose like that, but this was always a game where we would have been doing well to take a point from given our recent record there. The crucial thing for us now is that we don't let the heads drop and hit a slump in form and go on a winless/losing run like we did earlier in the season. It's a pity we have over a week for our next game against Dundee Utd because ideally I'd prefer to get back into things straight away. One things for sure, if we are to have any chance of top six, we must beat United a week on Saturday.

    Inverness Away

A brilliant result from what was potentially a very difficult away fixture. Onwards and upwards we go On a side note, we didn't really sing "Oh Richie Foran" did we?

    Ewan Cameron

Has anyone got the link for the wind up where Robin Galloway and Alan Rough got Ewan Cameron a belter by telling him that his bosses were on to him for renting the Porn channel in a a hotel he'd been staying in through his work and they were going to send the bill to his wife? It's hilarious as you can hear Cameron absolutely cacking himself as he falls for it and then Roughie asks him if the film he was watching had a lesbian theme and Cameron goes "Erm, naw it hud guys in it ah think" But seriously FUCK Ewan Cameron and the likes of him. There's no getting away from the fact that our pitch is in an unacceptable condition and the club need to get their finger out and sort it ASAP, but the over the top, melodramatic garbage that has been spouted over the past week has just been pathetic. I've not heard what Cameron has said but I can imagine, but the man is a muppet who should be laughed at or ignored.

    Ewan Cameron

Did I get a mention on Real Radio? I am honoured. Oh, and Ewan, if you are reading this, sorry I didn't phone you, but I don't listen to your show anymore, because IMO, the Clyde 1 phone in is better than your's, and that's saying something. "Shite Hugh Keevins, You're Just a Shite Hugh Keevins"
  10. I can understand to a point why we would applaud Terry Butcher before the game, as he deserves a lot of respect from Motherwell fans for taking on that job on that darkest of days for the club and then leading us to two top six finishes and a Cup Final appearance. I was never TB's biggest fan as I wasn't convinced he was a particularly good tactical manager, but at the same time I liked having him at the club as he did bring something of a feel good factor to things. However, why, someone PLEASE tell me WHY we should applaud Richie Foran before he takes to the field to play against us and possibly score against us and confine us to a defeat, which is what he will be aiming to do as an opposition player? Apart from that, what exactly did he do with us to merit this 'cult status'? I don't remember him being an especially brilliant player, more of a lazy bugger who chipped in with goals and was reliable from the penalty spot. Was it because he was 'a bit of a character' who enjoyed a good old bevy and could look after himself in a scrap? Sorry, but that does not merit us applauding or cheering him when he's playing against us. I'm not saying we should boo or abuse him either, but if our Cup Winning Captain, Tom Boyd didn't get applauded when playing against us, why should Richie Foran? As for Malpas? Well he's a Pie.
  11. Just on the subject of "The Famine Song". Where I was sitting there were a few guys a couple of rows behind who tried to get it started during the first half but were told to rap it by others around them and they duly did. I also wish our fans would cut out this "Wrong fucking country" chant as it just doesn't do us any favous atall, especially when we've got two born and bred Irishmen - Craigan & Sheridan - currently on our books. Are they also in the 'wrong fucking country'? It just doesn't look or sound good when our fans are singing this.
  12. Fantastic point today, against all the odds too. I honestly thought we'd do well to keep it down to 0-1 once they went infront but we got a break and we took it. Thought Klimpl was superb again today. And the chant of the day..."Glasgow Celtic = Paedophiles" for almost the entire 2nd half Not exactly PC but it wound them up no ends.

    Ewan Cameron

Ewan Cameron is a clown, nothing more and he should be ignored at all times. Whenever I listen to that pishy so called 'football' phone in with Alan Rough I honestly never fail to think that Cameron is simply completely devoid of any opinions of his own, instead just panders to what the Old Firm fans or the Edinburgh club's fans think. He tries so hard to sound impartial that he just sounds like an arse kisser who just picks up a Daily tabloid in the morning, latches on to the main story and takes the side he thinks the majority of his callers will take. Alan Rough, always disagrees with him, quite obviously just to wind up him IMO. That's what their entire show seems to be based on, ie. Ewan spouting one side of a pishy debate and Alan Rough saying the exact opposite. It's as transparent as pish. His crocodile tears live on the Radio when Scotland lost against Italy in the World Cup was one of the most cringeworthy things I've ever heard.
  14. Clarkson is not an out and out goalscorer, he never was. I agree he had a poor game last night but he is very much a key player in our side and has improved greatly as a footballer over the last two years. His workrate is phenominal, his link up play improving, albeit he looked alot better when Porter was in the side and he is able to grab some goals here and there. Don't get me wrong, I find him absolutely infuriating at times especially with some of the chances he misses by either taking one touch too many or opting to pass instead of shoot when in a good position. Clarkson is a fan's favourite and I know he gets a lighter ride of it than some others, but that's to be expected given the fact that 1) he's 'one of our own' in the sense that he came through our youth ranks, and 2) he is the nephew of our Late, great former Cup Winner and Captain Phil O'Donnell. Like it or not, that holds a lot of sway with the fans, particularly with the way he conducted himself in the immediate aftermath of Phil's death last year.
  15. All in all, that was a dreadful game of football between two mediocre sides and one goal was always going to win it and unfortunately it was them who got it. I don't think we neccessarily deserved to lose the game but at the same time didn't do enough to win it either. We just don't have that bit of flair in the side to unlock defences as our final ball last night and for the majority of this season has been absolutely deploreable. We really miss Ross McCormack - of the first half of last season - as he just had that little bit more when it came to taking a player on and beating him and providing support to Porter & Clarkson up front.
  16. Is our season over? Not yet IMO. If we manage to put together another good - winning, not drawing - run then we could still be in with a shout of challenging for the European place. It's a long shot, but it's still technically possible as I honestly don't think that there is much difference between the majority of the sides outwith the OF clubs. On the other hand, if we were to hit the slumps now and go on another run like we did pre-Christmas, then we could very easily be sucked right back into the relegation issue. Again at the moment that looks like a long shot, but when you consider that Inverness under new management may well start to pick up their confidence and therefore their form then that might not yet be a foregone conclusion as yet. We have some extremely testing fixtures coming up, with Celtic at home and then away up at Inverness next weekend, it's very possible that we could lose both games. Inverness, meanwhile have Hibs at home this weekend and would anyone bet against them getting all three points from that one considering how hit and miss Hibs are? It's all ifs buts and maybes of course, but after 2007 when we were 16 clear at the beginning of March and only survived relegation by the skins of our teeth, I'm taking nothing for granted yet. I don't think we will be relegated at the moment, but we all know that Terry Butcher will get his sides fired up to give anyone as good as they get, so don't count out Inverness just yet.
  17. Aye probably But seriously I am reasonably confident about this game.
  18. I'd be tempted to go with the same line up as took to the field on Saturday, but I'd like to see Sutton involved at some stage aswell, with Sunday's game in mind if nothing else. We won't have Sheridan for this game so I'd rather see Sutton get some match fitness under his belt beforehand, that is of course unless McGhee decides to go 4-5-1, oops sorry, 4-3-3 against Celtic As for tomorrow night, I fancy us to get through it. It will be tense and extremely nervy but I reckon we can shade it by the odd goal and I would say the pressure is on them more than on us, as they've not yet won at their new ground and that will play on their minds and could work in our favour. The sides are very well matched and we really should have beaten them in the final match at Love St. Hopefully don't jinx it, but I reckon 1-0 to us with Clarkson bagging his 51st.
  19. Sorry, but I seriously doubt that that is the case. There are plenty of Motherwell fans who resent - openly in some cases - the fact that Bob Malcolm plays for us and who were absolutely disgusted by his signing for the club last year, mainly because of his Rangers connections more than anything else. He he has since won over some of the support, but at the same time there are many who still hate him and don't applaud him and get on his back as soon as he makes a mistake etc. I have no doubt that some people also resent O'Brien and Sheridan because they came from Celtic, and that, like those who resent Malcolm, is wrong IMO, because any player pulling on the Motherwell jersey should get every chance to prove themselves and Sheridan in particular could do very well for us once he gets up to full fitness. It is completely wide of the mark to suggest that people who aren't completely supportive of these guys are automatically 'closet Rangers fans', likewise with the Malcolm haters being closet Celtic. They are just either extremely hard to please, or are too stubborn to see past the "Old Firm" connections. We've seen it all before in the past.
  20. You know what? I reckon even if you won 5-0 on Saturday, it still wouldn't erase the obvious pain and heartache of that game in '77, going by some of the remarks from some of the numpties on that link. "Aw we thumped the Arabs, we played pure blindin fitba that season an we went there tae win and they nasty big Cheats wouldny let us play oor nice tippy tappy stuff cos they wir too rough and bullied us and ended up knockin, sorry, cheatin us oot the cup, sob sob sob sob..." You beat us 3-0 a few years back in the Cup and that obviously hasn't numbed the pain for some St.Midden fans, so I doubt a win for you on Saturday would change things. I'd love to see us winning 1-0 with a dodgy penalty in the last minute after reading that forum. Get a grip for Christ's sake

    Mark McGhee

"Name strikers better than Porter" - Derek Riordan & Steven Fletcher are both as good as if not better than Porter IMO. "midfielders better than Hughes" - Laryea Kingston, Andrew Driver,James McArthur. All as good as, and (on this season's evidence)if not better than Hughes. And anway, I've already acknowledged that those two are our 'better players'. And keepers better than Smith? You seriously don't think that Alan Combe or that Zaluska at Dundee Utd are better than Smith???

    Mark McGhee

I'm sorry, but no we don't. We have some 'good' players in Porter, Hughes and Reynolds, but none of them are currently performing. The rest are bog standard average to mediocre at best. We are basically just like the majority of the clubs outwith the Old Firm, it's just that we are probably the easiest side to score against and beat.
