Ha ha! Very true Steelboy.

Whilst Celtic winning the league at Fir Park wouldn't be nice, it wouldn't be the potential riot inducing poisonous hate fest that Skippy Sunday was. I don't think there would be Celtic fans in the home end this time etc.

What are our chances of keeping Higginbotham beyond the summer? He's not played as much as I thought he would, especially considering how good he's looked at times.
-
Brilliant from Higdon! He had a good laugh about himself also. Glad to see the back of St Mirren to be honest. They always look good against us but are comfortably bottom 6 every year. No idea how that works!! As others have said, it would've been a travesty if we hadn't got anything from the game but our luck appeared to be out until Faddy stepped up... Faddy once again showed some sublime touches and has picked a few phenomenal passes now also. If I had one criticism of him though it would be he sometimes is quite slow to track back and St Mirren were quick to move the ball about when in possession which caused us problems. We had some amount of chances and shots blocked at the last moment but I also thought we were quite slack at times. St Mirren first goal was some strike but we were too slow to put any pressure on the shooter for me. Higdon not only has the goals in him, but his defensive abilities are outstanding too. He had one block in the first half when someone was inexplicably left unmarked at the back post. Same goes for Humphrey; the ground he made up to get back and defend an attack in the second half had me on my feet applauding. I would've liked to have een Higginbotham and Carswell feature at somepoint though. I think both these players really have something to offer. Pretty entertaining stuff all round.

Is Cammy Bell seriously going to Sevco? What a fucking idiot. Hell mend any player who signs for that circus in the lower leagues.
-
Hearts doing us a favour (so far) at tynecastle. Set up nicely for us to shite in the nest!! I don't really mean that, but it would be typical.

Since Nancy onwards, every squad that has got us to Europe is sadly not the squad that represents us when we play there the following season. We're in a great position but still a lot of football to be played so I'm taking nothing for granted. In fact, this thread should be closed until we are mathematically there!!
-
Despite St Mirren never finishing anywhere near us in the league, our head to heads are an even spread of wins, loses and draws and despite the final league placings of the teams, we have never been dominant over them in any season. Another tough game awaits on Saturday.

The abuse/stick Higdon got whilst unacceptable was blown way out of proportion in my opinion and only an idiot would've given him any this season. I think initially people thought he would be the type of player who chased down lost causes etc. and were reacting when he didn't do the job they believed he was signed to do. Once folk worked out why he was signed and the invaluable role he provides within the team you would be hard pushed to hear a dissenting voice aimed at him. In my opinion!

Brilliant win and fairly comfortable in the end with 2 great goals from Law. First half I thought Dundee were the better team; back to middle moved the ball about well but the final ball was always poor thankfully otherwise we would've been in trouble. I would take Harkins and their number 7 for next season. Second half was much better but I thought we were still sloppy at times and often slow to pick passes. We got the 2nd and 3rd goals at crucial times and they killed the game. Possibly could've had a couple more as Higdon had a couple of uncharacterisitic fresh air swipes and the final ball just evaded its intended target a couple of times. Faddy was quiet but still had a few moments if genius. I thought Lasley wasn't his best today and subs could've been made earlier but I'm splitting hairs. Special mention to Ojamaa for chasing down a lost cause and won a corner which led to the 3rd goal. Been to 7 away games this season and we've won all of them!

Apparently Ferguson has claimed he will provide a Man Utd team for any players testimonial except a Motherwell player! All because of that game! Reason number 456 to hate that prick!
-
I'd also like to go on record at this point in time and state that I absolutely and utterly detest John Brown with a passion. Anyone remember when he delibrately blasted the ball into the East Stand at close range one night?
-
One of these rare games where I will turn up almost expecting us to win and that doesn't sit comfortably with me as it's not how Motherwell fans should approach games. Dundee have been marooned and cut adrift at the bottom of the league since about 7 games in and we really should beat them with something to spare. Football disnae work like that though and I expect a tough game with their players putting the boot in at every opportunity.

I'm delighted he has re-signed, and he was as good as his word by having it done by the Dundee game. I think we now have a much better chance of keeping the out of contract players now although I think that Randolph and Law are off. If they move down south to bigger clubs then we can't grudge them it one bit as they have been fantastic servants to us. Big, big players to replace though. If any of our players go up the circus car crash that is Sevco then hell mend them! I think everyone else will stay though. Except Daley who will deservedly be punted.

Excellent news regarding McCall. Hopefully a few players will re-sign also. Certainly more chance of it now.
-
Never a penalty in a million years!
-
Just after the Hibs game he said it would be signed by the Dundee game. McCall has said on more than a few occasions now that signing the new contract is imminent. I must admit the longer it goes unsigned the more anxious I'm becoming.
-
Can anyone confirm if McCall signed his new contract at Hammell's testimonial dinner last night as was hinted at?
-
Doesn't surprise me about Randolph and we can't grudge him the chance to play at a higher level. He is going to be massive gloves to fill though. Disappointing news about Saunders. Of course he has flaws, but who doesn't? I always thought he looked like he had something about him; had a bit of dig and good in the air.
-
Great news. Hopefully be the first of a few current players to re-sign.

If I thought about it, I probably could name the teams that walked out in the games mentioned above! If we had won the cup in 2011, then for me it would've matched 1991. I had been going to the games since 1984, and did appreciate what it meant, but it would mean more now. I now probably appreciate more now what 1991 meant to my dad and uncle, who despite obviously being much older than me, have seen Motherwell win the same amount of trophies as I have. It's time for the heroes of 1991 to be replaced by new ones, but I fear it may never happen. In short, I'd swap Europe for a cup win in a heartbeat.
-
Been saying this for a while myself also. If we had been this good ten years ago I would've been permanently drunk!! I sit a few rows up from where all my pals sit with my dad these days. We are quite near an aisle. It takes a special goal for me to be out in the ailse and down jumping about with my pals, but it has happened a few times this season and in recent ones. Faddys goal being a real magic moment. I have been to 6 away games this season and we have won every one of them. We won 6 away in a row last year. Faddy is back in a 'Well shirt. It took us 14 years to qualify for Europe, we are now almost planning for it every other season, as someone said, through consistent league performances. These truly are good times. Would I swap all this for St Mirren had? Tough one. I want to see Motherwell win the Scottish Cup possibly more than I want anything else in life. I was ill with stress before the recent final and in my bed in despair by 5:30 that night! Finishing 9th, 10th, 11th 5 or 6 years in a row would eat at your soul after the years we have just had so I'm not sure I would swap it. For one pish season in the bottom 6 I would though!

Whilst I am in complete agreement with many of the points raised above, I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank the board for bringing James McFadden back to Motherwell for what is easily the most exciting signing in my lifetime.
