Really looking forward to this game. Is Jennings out?
-
Like everyone else I'm sure, I'd gladly lose all 5 remaining league games as long as we win the final.
-
First chance to post since Saturday. Oh what a day! Easily one of my best ever following the 'Well! Was pacing the flat and absolutely hyper the night before the game and on the morning. As a few players have alluded to, I didn't think we were at our best actually. I prefer when we play a much more pressing game, and Randolph actually had to tip a few good effort over the bar! But the goals were great and will live long in the memory. That said at 3-0 up I remember thinking that surely we were there now, but also of Instanbul in 2005. That's just me. Love when they played "Up the 'Well" over the tannoy on the way out and the train back to Motherwell was brilliant. Stuart McCall turning up at the Electric Bar was surreal and I feared for his safety when he got out the taxi! Brilliant. What a day. Absolutely perfect.

I would go with Randolph Saunders Hutchinson Gunning Hammell Humphrey Jennings Lasley Murphy Sutton Jeffers I think Craigan may get the nod over Gunning though. Right back will no doubt be contested by Saunders, Ross, and Hateley.

Haven't felt like this about a game in such a long time. So up for it words won't do it justice. I swing from "our names on the cup" to "we won't show up on Saturday". Will possibly feel better when I'm able to belt out a few songs but I will be a bag of nerves on the day of the game. Trying to stay away from any "omens", good (the performance v Utd in the replay, St Johnstones lack of goals) or bad (Brines is the ref, recent performances against St Johnstone in the cup, 'Well fans are too confident, St Johnstones lack of goals), but I reckon it will be the worst I've ever felt after a game if we do lose on Saturday.
-
With the Top 6 now secured, cup fever will now consume me! I am hugely up for this game and cannot wait, although I am in now way counting my chickens whatsoever. You do feel that if we play like we did against Dundee Utd in the replay then we will win no bother, but this is Motherwell and nothing is ever certain and due to the seemingly over confidence amongst the 'Well support, I have a nagging doubt that Saturday will end in tears!! We will never have a better opportunity to reach a final, but equally St Johnstone will feel the same. The disappointment of losing to a team who are at best our equal at this stage of the competition would be absolutely crushing. Not going to even bother predicting the score but I really hope we do ourselves justice on the day.

I felt and said after the ICT game that we wouldn't make the top 6 and I'm delighted to be proven wrong. And after some horrendous results earlier in the year. The last 3 results have been fantastic and even more so when we achieved the last 2 with many first choices missing/rested. Well done to McCall and the players.

Forbes got nothing but encouragement from anyone sitting roundabout me, including me, despite looking really slow and quite scared a lot of the time. I don't like him at left mid though. Personally I think it's a lot of bollocks that fans want certain players to "fail".

Can only echo what everyone else is saying. For once we all appear to have been at the same game! Randolph and Hutchy were absolutely outstanding but hats off to all the players for digging in and getting the points. All the more impressive considering it was such a depleted team. That's 2 games in a row now I've had to go walk up the back of the stand as my nerves couldn't take the alamoesque pressure we had put ourselves under in the closing stages. I don't know how I'll cope if we find ourselves in a similar situation at Hampden on April 16th!!!
-
Never thought of that. Baws! Just need to get it out the way tonight then.
-
Was thinking that myself. It might not be a bad thing if the game was off due to our injuries.
-
Aye, Jennings is suspended and Gunning is definitely out. Lasley and Hateley are carrying knocks. Didn't mention anything about Hammell.
-
I think the Express mentions Gunning is out, Lasley has sore ribs but came through some light training ok (ribs have been bothering him for some time) and Hateley has a slight calf strain. Didn't mention anyone else so I assume everyone else will be available for selection.
-
As I said, can't be arsed playing Dundee Utd so soon after playing them and I'm sure the players of both teams feel the same. I'm quite up for this now but I'm concerned with the injuries situation. Any news anywhere on the latest? I see O'Reilly is the ref. We never did get an explanation from him or the SFA regarding Jennings ridiculous red card that night and the subsequent pish regarding the alleged betting scandal so this clown will be getting it sair from me if he wanders near to my seat!
-
I thought he played pretty well, a couple of sclaffled clearances aside. Could be a good addition.
-
I said quite bluntly "No", but now believe we have a great chance (should've shut my face). Still feel we may need something against Utd and Hearts to make sure though.
-
Spot on to the original poster. I thought he was absolutely atrocious and so did McCall who came on to have a go at him. Can't ever recall a Motherwell manager coming on to the pitch at the end to speak to the ref like that so that just shows you how bad he was.
-
A thoroughly satisfying 3 points against as poor an Aberdeen team as I can remember seeing. I nearly gave myself an ulcer in the last minutes as I was convinced Aberdeen were going to equalise! Ended up walking up and down the back of the East Stand and when Hutchy scored I ran and sat back down and began the goading of Brown safely in the knowledge the points were now safe......would have been an absolute travesty to concede a late equaliser. The Brown v Boyle spat has overshadowed how bad the ref was. Absolutely atrocious. Maguire is now up there with Swanston as my "new most hated players" and how he stayed on the park I'll never know. We resembled the walking wounded at the end and dug in very well although I do worry about the personel available for Wednesday and the physical state of the ones who aren't already injured.
-
Can't be fucked playing Dundee Utd again. Especially so soon after the cup replay. No way that it will be as good a game, but hopefully we can take a point. All the players remaining as uninjured as possible would also be good as many of them looked shattered at the end of the Aberdeen game!
-
Quite a good move by McCall on the face of it. There will be nae Jennings for the next 3 SPL games and Saunders is out possibly for the rest of the season so I presume Hateley will move into the middle with Lasley now.
-
Definately a lot more 'Well fans there than usual last night. Best atmosphere since the Odense game. And with a much better outcome!!
-
Hats off for the time and effort going into making that display. There was singing through the East Stand and it was great for an atmosphere like that to return to Fir Park. Can't remember the last time I was able to sing so much. Brilliant. Hopefully the boys who made the banner will have something produced to welcome Broon on Saturday also!
-
Wow! Credit where credits due. A simply immense performance from start to finish. Every goal was a beauty, every player and absolute star. Great crowd, great atmosphere (the best since Odense!) An outstanding performance and it really could've been more. McCall and the players deserve great credit for what was essentially and absolute humping of a team on great form just now. Fucking magic!!! We will never have a better chance of reaching a final than we do now, but equally St Johnstone will justifyably feel the same. On a slightly down note, the late tackle on Hammell right at the start of the second half was a shocker and not one official spotted it! Swanston is a nasty wee fucker aswell so get it right up him and Houston whom I have grown to detest.
-
If everyone is fit I'd start with the same formation as last night. I'm still buzzing about last night and the players have every right to be proud of themselves, but hopefully McCall will now have them focused on this game. Need to take at least a point, but you would hope the confidence gained from last night will inspire the players to have the belief to go out and get all 3. Being Motherwell, I wouldn't be surprised if we lost this though! If anyone wishes to "welcome" Broon off the bus, count me in!
