You appear to be right regarding the BBC (not that I doubted you of course!). There was definately a direct quote from McGhee stating his interest in one of the papers last week though.
-
Was there not one on the BBC website?
-
McGhee comes out and states he is interested in one of our top performers a week before we play them? Pretty low tatctic and pretty much what we've come to expect from him. Would love it if Gannon came out and slaughered him for that as the press certainly won't.
-
Hopefully we'll all be singing that next Saturday!
-
I'm not surprised in the slightest to see O'Brien "allegedly" linked with McGhee and it is a worry he will leave at the end of his contract. Would Aberdeen be able to offer him more money/better football though? Totally agree with Diggle.... If he does sign a pre-contract with Aberdeen I would however employ Butchers tactic of not playing him again. Interesting that there are no quotes from either party and it just occurred to me that Gannons possible "huff" with the media could stem from this recurring story of (senior) players falling out/being unhappy with him. I'm pretty sure Mensing, Kinniburgh, Corrigan and maybe even Lasley would've been unhappy with McGhee due to being frozen out, and no stories of "rifts", which were equally, if not more likely were in every second story relating to Motherwell back then.
-
I don't remember reading anywhere that it was a month to month contract when Gannon was appointed? Where is the logic in that from a Motherwell perspective? Can anyone confirm this is indeed the case? Would certainly go a long way to explaining why a lot of players are only on 1 year deals!
-
A month to month contract?!?! That's mental if you ask me. If Gannon did attend an interview last week, that doesn't send out a good vibe to me. Only here 5 minutes and courting other positions already. McGhee was slaughtered (and rightly so) for similar actions.
-
I'm not one to throw rumours around, or indeed fan the flames, (although it could be argued I'm about to...) but I've heard from numerous sources including people at a trust meeting last night that he has been down to Brighton for an interview and wasn't on the team bus on Saturday amongst other things. Read into that what you will. Slighly worrying, but could just be pish. Hopefully....

Disappointing to not win another game due to missing another penalty, but when I saw the starting 11 I fearded the absence of Hammell, Ruddy, Hutchinson and Yass would be a big ask to defend flawlessly. I guess it would be more worrying if we weren't creating any chances, but I still feel Lasley could play as well as any of the midfielders at the moment. Anyone know what happened to Ruddy, Hutchinson and Yass? I didn't see it anywhere that they were doubts? Hopefullythey'll be ok for the sheepymehs as a win in that would give us all an emormous ammount of pleasure!

Too many to mention, but these ones stand out. The Dundee Utd 5-4 game from a few years ago was a particularly bad one to take. I've always felt that one of the greatest crimes in football is for a team to lose a game after being 2-0 up, and yet we threw away a 2 goal lead 3 times that day after leading 2-0, 3-1, and 4-2!!! We should've been given a penalty in the last minute, but even still, I was in my bed for 6pm in a major huff that night and couldn't even bring myself to watch the goals at a later date, labeling it "the game that we must not speak of" to this day. The cup defeat to Ayr Utd in 2000 was another one that haunted me for years. One of the most expensive Motherwell teams ever assembled, humbled at home to lowly Ayr Utd with a then 2nd Division Partick Thistle at Fir park standing between us and the semi finals. Unforgivable. I blame the hounding of Shaun Teale from the club for all our ills in the 2nd half of that season. In fact all our recent cup exits to beatable opposition make very difficult reading. St Mirren 3 times in as many years, Dundee, ICT, and St Johnstone. Oot the cup with a whimper every time!

I'd be pretty annoyed if Lasley was to leave but I think we could live with the loss of McGarry, Fitzy and Darren Smith. It would a shame if Craigan left due to it being his testimonal year but the defence is definately stronger without him. I think deals may be done to keep Ruddy, The Duke and Yass till the end of the season. Jennings hasn't been given any chance at all yet and I think Coke and Hateley will get tied up. Unless some bastard steals them from under our noses. I have a sneaky feeling O'Brien will leave. But probbably not till the end of the season.

It's the only way it should be done in my opinion also. Celtic fans have a history for disgracing minutes silences over the years. Still, if this seasons attendances are anything to go by there'll be 50 folk outside the ground in "protest".
-
Forgot about that one. Loved it!
-
Any meaningful goal against the Old Firm. Particularly Ian Ross's last minute winner, 2 Skippy Sunday ones, Faddys in the semi final and Shaun Fagans. Any last minute winner. Really enjoyed Clarkys two seasons ago v Killie. The goals v Aberdeen that clinched Europe.
-
Me!! Twice!! Once on New Years Day v Hearts. Can't remember the seaon, but it was the one Hearts nearly (and should've!) won the league only to scuppered by Celtic on goal difference on the final day. We lost 3-1 and I had my photo taken with Ray Blair whom I don't think I had a clue who he was looking back. And I still don't! Second time was against Hamilton Accies maybe in 1988 or '89. We won 3-0 and I had my photo taken with Stevie Kirk. I think Kirk and Andy Walker scored the goals. I don't remember much about either experience to be honest.
-
That sums it up for me. Yass could've and probably shouldve got tighter to Drive in the last 10 also. Thought all the subs did well when they came on also. Nice reception for Lasley. Would like to see the penalty claim in the first half again. Thought the ref was poor. Really don't like that wee wanna-be-community polis gnome! And rather pleasingly, can anyone remember seeing a worse Hearts team?
-
I really hope you're right. That would certainly shut all of us up!
-
What pisses me off more than anything is that we have failed to take yet another massive guilt edged opportunity to get back to Hampden! All we had to do was beat a 1st Division Inverness and St Mirren and we were there. Every year we go out the cup competitions with a whimper to teams that are at best, our equals, it's beyond a joke
-
I see Gannon is saying today that he feels we may need new players in January as we lack the quantity and quality to rest players. I would disagree with that. Real quality perhaps, but I feel we do have a few options and whilst Lasley and Sutton are not world beaters, they surely deserve a chance to show what they can do when players in their postions are under performing? We've also seen very little of Jennings.
-
Craigans og gets worse every time I see it. Even worse than the one against Steau Bucharest. Obvisouly he didn't mean it, but it really was a sloppy attempt at a clearance.
-
All of a sudden I think we'll be doing well to get anything out of this game!! Not sure what my team would be but I'd like to see a 4-4-2 with Lasley and/or Jennings starting. Hopefully Hammell will be back also. A win would be great, but I'd settle for a decent cohesive performance and a point.
-
What Jay said.
-
I think that was quite obvious.
-
I would say so too. As an aside, I like Craigan. Great guy, great ambassador, but the backline has been performing miracles without him. Cleansheets left, right and centre. He plays and bingo! 6 goals conceded in 2 games. I get the feeling that when everyone is fit the bench is the best he can hope for.
-
We got neither. Didn't even come close.
