Another great opportunity to get back to Hampden, or at least a semi final. I'm not getting my hopes up though as we are just as likely to go out the cup to beatable opposition with a whimper once again. I hate when you play the same team in cup and league so close together. I'm sure the players do too.

Again, very difficult to predict. I wouldn't be too disapointed with a draw, but I then think we would all be expecting, rather than hoping, to beat Falkirk the following week. I take it Hutchinson and Slane are still out?

It did look bad in June, very bad, and I posted that I believed so. I'd say since Flamaturi at home things have been quite exciting and there has been much to be postive about. That's well over a month ago according to my calendar. Hopefully that's the completely out of the blue witch hunt concluded!

Fuck me, what did I do?!?! Ha ha! I'll take that in the manner in which I think it was intended, but yer arse if that only took a few minutes!!! At the time, the sale of Clarkson and Quinn, coupled with the players we'd lost, did look like suicide, so I'll stand by that/those comments. Especially after the team we fielded, the performance and result against Llanelli in the first leg. Not even the most blindly optimistic of 'Well fans could've predicted the way things have went so far. I'm sure I also said after a few signings were made that things could go one of two ways for us this season. Since it only took a few minutes to dig up the other quotes, perhaps you post that one? You'll be hard pushed to find anything negative from any 'Well fan, even me, for a fair bit now though. I don't really care for proving people wrong for things that were said during worrying times and as such, don't remember what complete strangers said 3 months ago.

Long way to go yet, but indeed, great times. Someone should perhaps remind that tool Darryl Broadfoot who tipped us to go down how we're doing?
-
I was pretty annoyed when Clarkson was sold and I think he would be the only one out of who we've lost who could improve the team. Who'd have thunk it? I even bemoaned the loss of McLean, but thus far everyone else would appear to have been replaced by someone that is not only much more capable, but previously completely unheard of! Hats off to Jim Gannon. The problem is, Ruddy looks that good, will we be able to keep him beyond January?

Like others have said, I'd happily settle for a point tomorrow. Unless we get a penalty with 4 minutes to go and miss it! As much as this will be an extremely tough game for us, we've been playing well also and Utd won't relish playing us either. I'll be heading up and I'm looking forward to it. No idea what the team would be but I wouldn't be disapointed with the same starting line up as last week.

There was no need for the questions regarding George Burley. It sounded like a very obvious and poor attempt to get a quote that could be turned into contraversial soundbite.

I love the away strip and I'd be a shoe in to buy it but I'm wary due to the ammount of folks who've had problems with the home one.
-
I agree with that... But then I also like that!

It is a nice problem to have. Before Saturday I would've definately had Hutchinson in there, but Saunders was so good it would be difficult and possibly unfair to leave him out. I fear for Craigan that his tea might be oot.

I thought it was a penalty but I was extremely shocked to see it given considering there was only a few minutes left and still 0-0. The Rangers sympathisers in the media can fuck off. How many times have we seen them get penalties for literally hee haw in the dying minutes? Thought it was a really really poor penalty. Not even nearly close enough to the post and a perfect height for a keeper to get a hand to. I don't blame O'Brien one iota but his chance to take penalties is now over I hope.
-
Like many, I would've bit yer hand off for a point before hand but when you play as well as that, not to mention are handed a penalty in the dying minutes, of course you're naturally going to feel a wee bit hard done by. I thought we were maginficant from start to finish and every player really played their aprt. Special mention to Jennings as, on performances thus far I felt the kindest thing I could say would be "the jury is still out". he didn't put a foot wrong and every pass or toouch he made was the right one. Like many, an eyebrow was raised in concern at no appearance in the starting line up of either Hutchinson or Craigan, but the defense was extremely solid and on that evidence the afore mentioned might have some problems getting their place back. Yassin looked great, as did Coke and Hateley was out of this world. I think the penalty was a penalty was was astounded it was given a) McDonald was the ref, b) It was against Rangers and probably more significantly c) It was given in the last few minutes whilst the scores were still tied!!! It was piss poor penalty in my opinion though and that makes the missed opportunity to get a long overdue winn against them even more galling. Nowhere near enough to the post and a perfect height for the keeper to save. That's not to take anything away from O'Brien though who once again was brilliant. I thought it was a particularly poor home support in terms of numbers, but this 'Well team really is exciting and hopefully a few more "stay aways" be now be tempted out of retirement.

Great news about both Forbes and Hutchinson. Hopefully Slane will follow soon.

It's all ticket?! Surely not?!

Excellent signing! Well done Jim Gannon. It's amazing what can happen when we have a manager who actually does have contacts!

Oh dear, it's in all the papers..... I really wish the songs that were sung weren't the ones that were sung as despite the fact there are continued offences committed by the big two week in week out, and despite the press getting (delibrately?) getting the wrong end of the stick, they aren't afraid to put the boot in to Motherwell and it's now given the media friendly McGhee the opportunity to say "Moi?" to all and sundry. The press have completely ignored the many reasons Motherwell fans have for any ill feeling towards McGhee but have wasted no time in putting the boot in when it has become apparent many do.

Great point. And here we were thinking we'd go the whole season without a 0-0 draw. Will wait on the fans who were at the game's reports to see how it all went and how we played.

Always been a big fan of Hammell. Have spoke to him on various occassions over his two spells with us and he is a smashing down to earth bloke. Hammell has always been guaranteed his place in our team over his two spells and I think a bit of competition for places in the starting 11 is healthy. After having no competition for your position over the years, surely it is only good for the team and Hammell I'm sure has been round the block enough to appreciate this. I'd be very disappointed if he left, and especially if it was to a shower like St Midden.

Surprised this thread hasn't attracted more attention actually.

I don't give a fuck what our players look like, I want Slane signing a new deal asap as he looks magic on the pitch!

We were told that we couldn't have a minutes silence/applause at the Steau Bucharest game because UEFA wouldn't allow it. Turns out UEFA wouldn't have had a problem with it, and rightly so. The next most obvious opportunity wouldv'e been the Killie game. Again nothing. It think it's a major embarrassment on Motherwells part that this has been allowed to happen and it appears that they had hoped that no-one would notice the passing of the game without any tribute being paid and treat the whole thing with silence rather than explanation. Poor show.

Really looking forward to this one. Not going as I can't afford it but as someone else said, in a Kevin Keegan stylie, I would absolutely love us to win up there on Saturday. McGhee will spout his usual shite win lose or draw and I feel after this weekend our hatred for him will reach new heights! Lets hope his pechant for bottling it in crunch games happens again on Saturday. I don't have a clue what the score will be. We look pretty good and Aberdeen don't. I wouldn't really be surprised with a win, a loss, or a draw really. I feel our players, especially the younder guys who McGhee and his bitch continually over looked, will be really fired up for it. If we avoid defeat I would consider that a great result.

I'll relax once all the above have actually signed the contracts put in front of them!
-
If true, I don't like the sound of that! Surely any senior player at Motherwell shouldn't be advising the younger players to try looking elsewhere? Christ, just when everything was looking up aswell!!!!
