Slightly concerned yet another midfielder has been signed when that's clearly not the area(s) needing strengthened. Still in Gannon we trust.... I'd be pretty pissed off if we sold Reynolds right now, and more so at the h**s if it's a late last minute before the transfer window shuts bid. In fact I'm still pissed off we've sold Clarkson and Quinn (and subsequently not replaced them!)
-
It has gone very quiet on the transfer front. Although to be fair Gannons other signings appeared completely out of the blue, rather than him talking about this and that for weeks. I am quite concerned though. The squad is still very thin, and relatively untested, certainly at SPL level. I'm not going to panic about no signings just yet, but will if there are none in the next couple of weeks, and even more so if we are sitting with nae points when we head to Pittodrie!

That's the ultimate insult!!

Typical Weegie gutter journalism at its best/worst. Remember Darryl Broadfoot last season after the 1-1 with Celtic descibed the 'Well support as "the most cretinous in the league" after apparently we "moaned and wailed" at every decision given against us. I wrote to him and asked if he would ever even dream of describing the supporters of the Old Firm in such a way. Of course he never replied. At the start of every season (and often throughout!) I worry about Motherwell getting relegated, and this is no different. We have the potential to take teams by surprise this season, but we also have consider the possibility that we have a very weak and inexperienced squad that may not fair well when the going gets tough. Like every season, a strong start could make all the difference.

I agree. That was an excellent post and one that sums up my feelings also.
-
Would letting Hammell go be any dafter than letting Quinn and Clarkson go? Hope this is, as others have said "a non starter".
-
I don't think we'll miss Fitzy or D.Smith. The squad is still very thin it has to be said, but I like the cut of Gannons gib and fully expect to see a few more players before the transfer window shuts. Sooner rather than later preferably!

This "splitting the Old Firm" pish is absolute nonsense! Never in a million years! Come back down to earth people!!
-
Part of me feels that way too. I still feel the sales of Clarkson and Quinn will come back to haunt us....
-
That should be pinned to the wall to serve as a motivational tool!! I'd love us to make a great start and have that tool Darryl Broadfoot eat his words as he's a total arsehole! It really could go either way for us this season. I still think the squad is far too weak to compete long term. Another striker, a right back, and possibly another centre half are needed for the long haul. The big two jobbies will obviously be the top 2. I think Hearts and Dundee Utd will be next. After that, I don't think there will be too much between the rest. I would bite your arm off for staying clear of a relegation battle...and for a point on the first day.
-
I'd like to hear the clubs response to that. I'd be very disappointed if it turned out to be true.
-
After watching last nights game - Agree with most of that. Coke and Ruddy look the part for me thus far. Think they could be big players for us. Not been impressed with Humphries or Jennings yet. It is early days though, but I would have Lasley and O'Brien in their place everytime at the moment
-
Hopefully there'll be black armbands and a minutes silence at the Killie game for him.
-
I really liked Reynolds playing where he did last night. I thought we lost our shape after he went off. Some support from Steau Bucharest. Did they all travel over from Bucharest/Romania? Or would Govanhill have been deserted last night?
-
The ref last night gave Wullie Young, Brines and McCurry a run for their money. A truly shocking display. Still can't believe we played so well and didn't even get a draw. I hear Gordon Smith was in the stand last night? Perhaps he'll do his job and submit a complaint on begalf of the SFA to UEFA about the standard of the referee? Oh wait, will he f......
-
I think tonight is a write off, and I mean that with no disrespect to the Motherwell team. Steau looked a class act and if we can get a 1-1 draw tonight, or even play well in a 2-1 defeat then we will be doing very well. It's been great to go on this wee run in Europe, I was aprehensive at first due to the mass exudos of players before a ball was even kicked, but it's caught the imagination of the fans and hopefully brought the young team together in good preparation for the season. The priority for me is now Perth on the first game and I think realistically it will be this for Gannon and the players too. Hopefully we will see a couple of additions to the squad by then.

I think we'll miss McLean this season. Don't know who to blame over him not being with us anymore though.
-
If you want quality you have to pay for it though. Had we not received money for McGhee/Leitch, Clarkson and Quinn then I wouldn't expect us to be paying any money for anyone. I thought, perhaps naively, that at least a small percentage of the money received from the above mentioned would be used to pay at some least some small transfer fees, rather than the "hope we can get it for nothing" approach. My point is, I don't think we can replace Porter and Clarksons goals without paying for them
-
That would be McGhees doing then? I agree with the rest though. Our squad is still dangerously weak in my opinion. The sale of Clarkson with no replacement brought in will come back to haunt us I fear.
-
Me too, but then I'm sure Gannons signing so far just appeared out the blue!
-
Accies trying to get Murphy and Arfield is hilarious. Like Man City (minus the money) trying to get their recent signings.
-
I'll no be going either now. Gutted. Just can't justify paying that, especially when you consider petrol. I see St Johnstone are keen to attract fans with their pricing stucture then.
-
I'd take Imrie aswell. I see a lot of strong ill feeling towards him on here from some folk, but the harsh reality is that people we have cheered on (or at least watched!) over the years are seldom likely to have been our friends.
-
A striker and a right back minimum still needed in my opinion also. Clarkson and Porters goals have to be replaced or despite the optimism we will struggle.
