McGhee, like everyone else, is not untouchable, but he has given us very little to moan about in 2009. Sure we could debate certain formations/tactics/substitutions etc till the cows come home (whatever that means) with the benefit of hindsight but 1 defeat in 13 games if great going by anyones standards. I thought it was an excellent article and anything that challenges or gets it right up the arseholes that ru(i)n the game is fine by me.

Just remembered we had a smallish shout for a penalty that was ommited from the higlights aswell, yet they also showed Aberdeens half arsed appeal for one. I've tried to contact the BBC, purely to rattle their cage, over the glaring ommisions that occur in their highlights, but it's a lost cause as their doesn't appear to be a contact option on their page. Can anyone help and I'll tell them how it is!!!

Nice to see the BBC missed Severins shocking tackle, which has also received no mention in the press, Suttons bad miss when Clarky squared it, Hammells cross come shot that nearly went in, Clarkys volley that went inches wide.....have I missed any?!? They've a cheek to call it highlights.

It was a piss poor attendance considering what was at stake. maybe we should just say there was 14,000 there though? There certainly wasn't a full house at the Potatoe Bowl as their attendnace given would suggest. That's why we won't be in the top 6 then. Aberdeen and Killie are bothe atrocious.

When Craigan was out earlier in the season I think that showed how much we really need him, but McLean was injured himself back then and I would be more than happy with McLean at centre half any week if Craigan is out.

Beating Aberdeen yesterday was never going to be a forgone conclusion. I thought they were poor and we should've had the game sewn up long before their only real effort on goal but this is Motherwell and sadly I/we've seen it all before. If we don't make the top 6 then it won't be down to yesterdays draw, the 0-0 with Killie 2 weeks ago was a great opportunity considering they still haven't won a league game in 2009, but more the other poor results we've had before Christmas. We took 1 point from 21 on that run. Even a shitey 4 or 7 from 21 would probably be enough to see us there. That said, this is a fantastic run this year, with a little more composure in front of goal or a bit more quality where it counts then I think we have the makings of a really good team. Hopefully whatever happens, we will be able to keep a hold of the main men (McGhee, Klimpl, Hughes) for next season.

Reckon this will be a tense nervy affair with little football being played. I think Aberdeen are pish, but we seem to struggle against the allegedly pish teams of Falkirk, St Mirren etc... I think we will miss Klimpl but have no have fears Lasley will come in do a job. Hopefully Craigan will make it, if not move McLean into the middle. I really, really hope McGhee starts with Clarkson. If he does I think we'll win. If not, I fear we will draw, and anything less than 6 points from the 3 last pre-split games will see us miss out on the top 6 and subsequent Euro push sadly. Hopefully they'll be a big turn out from the 'Well fans. This is "death or glory" time and we still have everything in our own hands so C'mon the 'Well!!!.

Doubt it, but would be pleased nonetheless. A good left sided midfielder is exactly what we need. That said, he got probably the most hostile reception I've ever heard anyone get upon his return to Fir Park. I think most 'Well fans have forgiven him for that though and now blame his agent.
-
It could be argued that Klimpl can however do a job in midfield, whereas McLean (not neccessarily my opinion) can't at right back?
-
So Aberdeen fans are greetin' cos they got put out a cup by a team they perecieve they should be beating....and they want McGhee...cos his record in the cup with us is quite remarkable eh?(not a criticism of McGhee as such btw) Maybe McGhee would go if asked, but if the Aberdeen board were gonna sack Calderwood for a bad cup exit then surely their recent exits against Queen of the South and Queens Park would've been more apt opportunities?
-
Their request is so ridiculous it doesn't even warrant a reponse from the Aberdeen board, and I don't think it will. I fully expect to see Darryl Clubfoot and Hugh Keevins running with it though....
-
I think we would have a better chance of Europe if it wasn't for this stupid split. We could miss out on the top 6 by a point, but that one point wouldn't be enough to rule us out of the Euro chase under different circumstances.

Every issue you had regarding Motherwell would probably be agreed with by Motherwell fans, anyone who reads these boards regularly will tell you many fans aren't happy with many (if not all!) the decisions the board make here. The point of the letter being put on here was to show transparency in the Trust making efforts to address something the fans weren't happy about. It was not an attack on Kilmarnock FC as a whole, merely a request for the pricing of one game to consider being revised. Nearly every paragraph you posted however contained a sly dig at Motherwell which had nothing to do with what the original letter was about.

For any Motherwell fan turning up yesterday expecting to win, the only explanation I can offer for this belief is it is their first season following the team! We have no divine right to win any game in the SPL, even when on paper we look favourites. Yesterday it is possible to concieve we were. I don't think it is a coincidence that the word "lacklustre" has appeared in every match report I've read about yesterdays game and I don't think there is that much gnashing of teeth that we didn't win, more that we were all made more than aware the importance of the opportunity, and we're all a bit disappointed at the display, rather than the outcome. No-ones having a go at the team, it was a very frustrating and unexpectedly bad performance, possibly not helped by having several players played out of position and our most dangerous player warming the bench for the first hour. I said in another post, considering the start we made and the run before Christmas, I think the team have done tremendously well to even still be in with a shout of the Top 6 and, dare I whisper it, Europe....Even more so when you consider we've had to do without Porter for the second half of the season. It will be those two afore mentioned runs, rather than yesterdays draw, that will ultimately have a bigger say in where our season takes us. I'm personally reasonably calm about the teams league standing. Although it's not mathematically impossible, I can't see us going down this year, and at Christmas I would've settled for that. It's not lack of ambition, but old habits die hard and I've always got one eye on the gap between us and the bottom spot. At the moment I'm losing no sleep over that issue.

We got away with it against Utd granted. I don't think it's the best formation we could play though. Plenty folk did comment on the formation at the time. No "doom and gloom" from me. We have lost both games against Aberdeen this year, haven't won at Ibrox since May '97 and have only beaten St Mirren 3 times in 14 attempts. Possibly shouldn't have commented on team selections as that's maybe for another thread but Clarky gives 100% and runs through brick walls for the cause. The other two upfront are either unable, or just plain unwilling to do that. Gotta love this site for folk unable to take a different perspective on things.

I don't think we'll take any more than 4 points from the last 3 games. Possibly less if we persist in not playing Clarkson from the start and O'Brien on the left. I'm not convinced by McLean and Quinn playing together on the right. That's a no from me.
-
After you commented that football is too expensive, surely the price then becomes extremely relevant when deciding upon whether or not you go to the game? Especially an away game, with a lunchtime kick-off, and live on Setanta. Motherwell fans can also watch games at Fir Park for less than £20. Why does Tam Cowans article speak volumes? You raise some good points that no 'Well fan would really quibble with but let yourself down by not being able to resist having a dig about matters on the pitch, which isn't relevant, and not what the letter to your club was about. So what if the they got the lassies name wrong?! It still found it's way to the appropriote person.

Just back in from Rugby Park. What a waste of time and money that was. Lacklustre from the start, couldn't even get the fundamentals right. The easy/early ball was seldom played, unforced errors were made from start to finish, players caught in possession all afternoon. Piss, piss poor. I'd give Hughes, Buzz, Craigan, Reynolds, and Clarky pass marks. The others, even Klimpl who has been very consistent were terrible. O'Brien is nae use on the left and he McGhee has a decision to make, it's Quinn OR McLean. I wouldn't have Sheridan anywhere near the first time again this season. He is just not interested. No dig or effort whatsoever. I think Sutton offers very little. Doesn't win much in the air and can't hold the ball up. Interesting that McGhee blamed our terrible run before Christmas pretty much on Clarkson and Craigan being out. Now he's not playing Clarkson!!! I know he said he was tired, but he certainly doesn't look tired when he comes on and it's crimminal he's not starting. To be fair, if we don't make the top 6 or Europe, it won't be because of today. The poor start to the season and the awful run before Christmas have left us playing catch up and we've actually done really well to even be in with a shout.

That is the one consolation that Lasley is a more than capable replacement. Will just need to save the flags for the St Mirren game then.
-
Bollocks! I thought it was the Rangers game he was out for? How many will he miss?
-
As a grown man, I'm not ashamed to admit that if we're unable to retain Klimpls services on a permanent basis, I will greet. Give him Porter and Boabs wages if neccessary!
-
I see what you mean, and you have a point, but as much as Lasley is one of my favourite players, I beleive Klimpl has more to offer at the moment, is playing fantastic, and Lasley always appeared to be the one player Mcghee was willing to sacrafice on occassions. And I don't think we can play both of them in the team AND achieve the right balance. With Clarson and Sheridan, I feel Clarkson is streets ahead in every aspect of Sheridan. Nothing to do with his loan status (or the team he is on loan from!) and perhaps others (fans anyway?) feel the same?
-
The games on Monday night though eh? Same team as Saturday except Clarky in for Sheridan. Can we break the live tv curse? We have to!
-
I've just bought a Slovakian flag on e-bay!!!!. Right, back to work.....
-
I would be sorry to see him go, but Klimpl, Hughes, and McGhee would be bigger losses.
