  1. Great win. We’re obviously not mathematically safe but it would take some collapse from us, but also at least 2 teams below us winning 4 games. Both are not impossible but highly improbable.
  2. Get in! Watt going off is a bit a blow however.
  3. An Accies win tonight would really put the cat amongst the pigeons. Could really do without that.
  4. Hopefully Livingston win the cup and go out on the lash and stop drinking at lunchtime on Saturday! That said, we really need St Johnstone to do us a favour on Wednesday v Accies. An Accies win there puts the cat amongst the pigeons for sure. I still reckon we need another couple of wins to guarantee 10th or above so hopefully we get another one here then at least a point v Killie.
  5. Massive massive win. Absolutely huge for us!
  6. Can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win sadly. We won’t be able to compete with the running power Hibs have. Would bite your hand off for a point.
  7. I agree on paper it seems unlikely but we needed 3 wins from 11 which sounded far more achievable. Our failure to win any of the past 3, especially considering the opposition, now means the task is now a far bigger and, worryingly, more unlikely ask. If we fail to win even 2 more games this season (2 in 11) then we quite possibly will finish in the bottom 2 and on that tally who could say we didn’t deserve it.
  8. We need 4 points before the split and some of those points need to come v Killie. Anything less than that and we’re going to leave ourselves requiring too much post split when we’re really up against it. 1 point and 1 goal (and a penalty at that) is an absolutely shameful total from 3 games v Accies, St Johnstone and St Mirren but we are where we are.
  9. I remember someone on here saying they approved of our policy of signing players named after butlers. Jennings, Giles, and Humphrey!
  10. A much improved performance with a bit of determination and with a bit more luck really should have won it. Shows you how bad been we’d been that an encouraging point away to the best St Mirren side in 30 years can give us (false) hope. 1 point from 9 and 1 goal scored (a penalty at that) v Accies, St Johnstone and St Mirren is a pish poor haul though and still needs us to take a minimum of 4 points before the split. Some of those points need to come v Killie also.
  11. Got to make this pressure count though cos you know what happens when you don’t score when you’re on top.....
  12. That formation has got us slaughtered the past two games. We need an extra man in midfield. Surely McGinley is a better option than Magloire? Or move Maguire back?
  13. Magloire and Lamie as the centre half’s?!?! Jesus Christ!
  14. My worry is Alexander will swap O’Donnell for Johnstone and everything else will be the same. Surely McGinley is an option? He’s not looked any worse than anyone else when he’s played.
  15. So how long does a hamstring/muscle injury like the one Gallagher have normally take to heal? When could/should we expect him back if indeed that is what he has?
  16. Pray for a flood of biblical proportions then.
  17. That’s a good point actually. Absolutely typical!
  18. What illness do O’Hara and Campbell have exactly? Can’t be covid? Nobody’s caught the flu this year? Food poisoning? They’ve been ill for nearly 10 days by tomorrow. Same with Grimshaw. I dunno, seems a bit odd. Same with Smith, Foley and Nolan. What exactly is going on?

  20. An inspiring sound bite from O’Donnell regarding tomorrow’s game.
  21. Relegation for Motherwell would be an unmitigated disaster on so many levels it’s difficult to know where to begin. But I’ll try.... First of all the financial implications. I’m not sure how much we get from TV money from being in the top flight but it’s got to be a significant proportion of our income. Then you have the money from the league placing money any the advertising you can charge when appearing on Sky etc. No revenue from old firm away support or the larger supports that premier club can bring. Everything really! That would be gone overnight! Our player/staffing budget possibly/probably could remain the same for the first season down but if we are disappointed with the standard of player we can attract and afford as a well established premier league club then you have to shudder to think about what we might “enjoy” as a championship club. Any Turnbull, Scott, Kipre we unearth or produce would be lost for a fraction of what we got for them from being a premier league club also. I’m struggling to think of a team that has went down and came straight back up recently and we don’t have the money to chuck at a promotion campaign the way Hearts, Hibs and Utd. Even then, Utd took 3 attempts to get back up! There would be a real danger of becoming another Dunfermline, Falkirk, Raith or Patrick and spend years in the wilderness often just bobbing along in the championship hoping you might get a sniff of the play offs. You could pretty much kiss goodbye to ever being any sort of credible or respected club for a generation, if not longer. Livingston were down for years, St Mirren were down about 10 years then up for a season then down for 5 or 6., Dundee were up for 5 years I think there but have spent something like 14 of the last 20 in the championship.Dunfermline have had 1 season in the last 15 in the premier league and that quite possibly could be our future. At best! Absolutely terrifying stuff. I think as a fan base we would find in particularly tough. Despite being on a Motherwell roller coaster it has yielded 35 years, by hook or by crook, or top flight football. As a poster above said, we’d need to adjust our expectations very quickly and that’s what asker said than done. Motherwell fans under the age of 40 will never have seen us play anything other than premier league football and I’m sure plenty of our friends and colleagues who support other teams would waste no time in reminding us of our predicament! Losing to Alloa and Morton etc and sitting mid table after 6 games would be 100 times worse than anything we’re going through right now and the panicking among the support as the reality hits would be unbearable. Any Motherwell fan who is blasé about it being a bit of a laugh and a jaunt round new grounds is deluded.
  22. I remember those seasons well. That was the season we only stayed up by somehow beating Rangers at ibrox in the second last game. The following season also went down to the penultimate game and we required favours as we lost the last 4 or 5 games. It’s worth noting as bad as we were in those seasons we beat Rangers and Celtic each in both seasons! We’ve rode our luck so many times it might finally run out this year.
  23. Ideally we need several of the injured players back for this but either way we need to find a way to shit festing our way to taking at least a point from this. If you take 3 horsings in a row from Accies, St Johnstone and St Mirren at this stage of the season then it doesn’t bode well.
