Indeed. I thought Hearts were excellent. Harried and chased everything. Won literally every tackle and should've had a penalty. Sadly, at the moment, we don't have the players who can play with that level of energy and intensity. That boy cleared yet another one of the line tonight also!

Not just Belic, I seen someone mention on p&b that 6 of McGhees 9 summer signings didn't kick a ball on Saturday. It's the same most weeks. That's a lot of players signed and picking up a salary that aren't contributing. If we want to bring anyone in in Jenuary a few will need to move on.

Maybe we will by then? Entirely possible that McHugh will be back, Lucas may be fit and if rumours and massive hints are to be believed, Pearson might be back. I need to believe that the ineffectual pairing of Lasley and Clay is only being deployed out of necessity.

The cup draw is a boot in the baws, no doubt about it. But it's so predictable I can't help but shake my head and laugh! Football wise, there's nothing I want more than for Motherwell to win the cup again but it wasn't going to happen this season anyway. January 21st is a long way away though. We should/could have McHugh, Lucas and maybe even Pearson back by then? Hopefully we might make sum cash out of this cup draw to offset the missing Old Firm game at Fir Park? Just a pity we have to play them 2 weeks in a row. Hate when that happens. We have bigger fish to fry this season anyway such as preserving our top flight status, and I fear, especially if the current team selections and form persist that by the time this cup tie comes around how the table will look.

Just to cheer myself up I listed every year and the team that knocked us out since winning it in 1991. I only needed to consult the Internet once to confirm a result, 2006 since you asked, when apparently St Mirren, fucking St Mirren, beat us 3-0 at Love Street. I honestly don't remember that game! Anyway, Rangers and Celtic have only put us out 5 times in 25 years! Meaning we've nearly always been eliminated by at best our peers and at worst lower league or lesser teams! The list makes grim reading. To give you an idea, between 2004 and 2010 we were put out by Inverness (twice!) Kilmarnock, St Mirren (twice!), Dundee, and St Johnstone! I think since 1991 we've reached 1 final, 2 semis, 4 quarter finals and the rest all just 3rd or 4th rounds.

As far as the Scottish Cup goes, since winning the cup in 1991 we've reached 2 semis (2003 and 2011) and 1 final (2011). I dont know how many quarter finals have been reached in that period but our attempts at cup runs in the past 25 years have in the main been pretty pathetic. The exits which I remember being particularly painful were v Dundee Utd in 1994 after a replay, v Ayr Utd in 2000, v Dundee in 2007, v Aberdeen 2012 AND 2013 and of course Albion Rovers 2014. All of the above because we had a team those years capable of doing something.

We're so easy beat. Been horsed several times this season. Got to hope that our every present midfield pairing of Clay and Lasley is purely down to injuries to other players as they just will not do. We've now lost 5 of the last 7 and that will almost certainly be 6 in 8 after next week.

Same starting 11 as last week. Lucas nowhere to be seen again. He's going to be a one game wonder. A modern day David Ferrere!!

Would be great if we picked up an "unlikely" point here but I suspect Hearts will be too strong for us. That said, they have dropped points against other bottom 6 teams so it's not too far fetched. Likelihood is though we won't take anything in the next 2 games so I fully expect to be sitting in a pretty precarious league position, but not cut adrift, on the Sunday after the Celtic game. Which then puts us under a bit of pressure to get something from the Killie game the following week. And if we lose that......

That they were, but in their next 2 games since then they've got a credible point v Rangers and then a convincing win away to St Johnstone. 2 results I'd love us to get! Everyone is very inconsistent. If any team could put any sort of run together they'll pull away. Hopefully it'll be us.

Would be good if we could get some updates on what is up with Lucas as he could be very useful to us. At the same time if he is going to be constantly injured it's no use. The only time I thought Clay has looked any good this season was with Lucas.

McGhee would be aswell just talking about Scotland in his press conferences and he's bullshitting all of us. A Lasley/Clay midfield has yielded hee haw. It doesn't work and it's not going to. Slow, predictable and just generally poor. I've given up on McManus and Samson ever getting dropped. Joke of a starting 11.
