Seriously?!?! Fair play to him.
-
If Hammell is ever played at right back again then McGhee should get his jotters.
-
That's all we need! The guy is an absolute joke!!!
-
Dundee also lost 6-0 earlier in the season.
-
Lasley will be back for this and surely Hammell and Law will be in their right positons and Chalmers his (the POD Stand) which leaves us with the decision of who to replace Grimshaw with. Like at Tynecastle I would start with the team as it has been starting of late replacing the player that is no longer here with the next best option (Leitch or Cadden in this instance) and leaving the rest the fuck alone! We have 5 games in a row now in reasonably quick succession (Ross County, Dundee, Thistle, Killie and Utd) which I would class as "must not lose". Utd in particular is a "must win". Failure to win that one would be a bigger disaster and embarrassment than what happened at Tynecastle!! I'm not greedy though and like to think my expectations are realistic so I think 7 to 9 points minimum from these games should be our target.

It's obviously important for players to buy into their managers strategies and vision so you wonder what the players must be thinking after being asked to go out and perform in that clusterfuck of a line up. Every one of them would've knew that was the wrong set up. No wonder so many of them looked out of sorts! Even at 3-0 after 22 minutes McGhee didn't change it. Or half time! In fact he kept it like that the full 90, tinkering only with the forwards. Surely he had a incline that this starting 11 was a risk and if it wasn't working what plan b was? Apparently not.... I gave McGhee a relatively easy time over bringing on Robinson in the Accies game at a crucial stage and you've got to wonder what the thinking behind that was..... What do you think he sees in Chalmers (that no one else can?) to go straight back in the team? But not Watt? Our league position is still extremely precarious and my confidence that McGhee can get us out of it has taken a massive dent.

Some glaringly obvious question conspicuous by their absence from that post match interview. McGhee also appeared to take zero responsibility for the his decisions impacting on the players and hardly seemed that upset or even bothered. Poor show all round.

Can't remember the last 6-0. It's a thankfully rare score line to lose by. Hibs beat us 6-1 in the Malpas season but they were a great team and that was our, until last season, worst team most of us have seen. There have obviously been quite a few 5-0 and 5-1 defeats over the years but in fairness we've dished out a few hidings as well.

There's no denying that what McGhee tried today didn't work but every single Motherwell fan could've told you that Law isn't a centre mid and Chalmers is never a premier league footballer. It is widely recognised that Hammell being missing from left back, that's left back, I repeat left back most of the season was a massive reason we were so abject for so long. Laing in midfield doesn't work, Clarky/Faddy/cadden probably wouldn't have either but swapping solid players about to accommodate 1 or 2 who were missing meant the whole rhythm of the team was disrupted. And he kept them there the full 90!!
-
The chat of McGhee not trusting Cadden or Leitch doesn't wash with me. Or more to the point, I'm pretty sure I don't trust McGhee after today if he thinks that deployment of players and moving Hammell about and Law (who's barely a right back, let alone a centre mid!!) about and bringing in Chalmers (who's barely a fucking footballer!!) was the right thing to do! Then after 22 minutes when we go 3-0 down he doesn't change it. Or keeps them there after half time. And indeed the full 90 minutes. Really?!?! At what point did he think moving those players about and also disrupting the partnerships they had formed with their team mates (Hammell and Johnson etc) wasn't working?! I'd love to know. The smart thing to do today, and only thing we really could've/should've done was bring in Ainsworth for Grimshaw and any one of Leitch, Cadden, or even Laing, even Clarkson, or even Faddy in for Lasley, but you leave the rest of the fucking team alone!!!
-
This 100%. We were always going to lose today but this is the stuff of nightmares.
-
Absolutely embarrassing. Even Utd went there and kept it respectable.
-
We were always going to be at least a man down and position weaker with Lasley suspended and another with Grimshaw away, although Ainsworth is a more than capable player in his own way, but why weaken other areas?!?! Moving Hammell out of left back to right back weakens left back and right back. Law is never a midfielder in a million years and Chalmers is out his depth at this level. Why not try Watt there?!?! McGhee has fucked up badly today which along with bringing on Robinson and Cadden at the end of the Accies game is now several bad and costly mistakes in a row concerning selections. At least he'll get asked these questions in the post match interviews.......
-
No changes at half time?!?! Hmmmm......
-
As I said, you could tell before a ball was kicked it was a ridiculous way to line.
-
Fuck sake! I know we weren't blessed with credible options in midfield today but when the team lined up you knew it wasn't the best use of who we had.
-
No idea how that midfield is lining up but Chalmers anywhere near the starting 11 is not good in my opinion.
-
Pearo as holding midfielder and Clarky as a "number 10"?
-
Would bite your hand off right now for a point which I think we would be doing well to get even with Grimshaw and Lasley in the team. Home win I'm afraid.
-
Indeed. What are our options now? Ainsworth would be the natural choice on the right but he'll need to match Grimshaws work rate. Laing or Leitch in the middle?

This is a bit of a boot in the baws.

Full strength team. Fair do's. And Grimshaw? Does that mean his loan has been extended?
