The continual deployment of Kerr at right mid continues to worry and baffle me in equal measure.

As injured and often poor as he was at times I still think he would've been worth a deal till Christmas. McCall obviously disagreed. Still don't know whether he was offered reduced terms or nothing at all. Would we have finished 2nd without him? I seriously doubt it. I reckon he's worth his weight in gold just having him around the place.

Would agree wih this. Squad is extremely thin and a replacement for Anier/McFadden is an absolute must. Don't have John Porteous anymore either and his ability to keep players available to play can't be underestimated. The players Utd have signed look the business, but that's the leverage you have when you can shift an 18 year old for £3 million quid! Even Dundee have signed (on paper) a few decent sounding sorts. We are aboslutely skint we have to remember.

Please, please, please let it be so!!!! Other teams could certainly pay more but I don't know where he would fit in the team at Aberdeen or Dundee Utd and I don't think any other team for the sake of a bit more money would necessarily be more attractive. Then there's Sevco I suppose.....

I wish I shared folks confidence that we can win over there. I don't think we'll go through on the evidence of what I seen last night. They came within a whisker of scoring at least another 3 goals, whilst we continued to make the same mistakes both individually and collectively that dogged us all of last season. There's also the financial implications of missing out on another round in Europe..... After a few years a getting tough teams we finally draw an "easy" team and we're halfway to fucking it up!

Worryingly bad performance from pretty much every single player. Probably the worst I've ever seen Lasley play. Ever! Did he really take a touch instead of clearing it before hauling down their player for the second penalty? Vigurs and Ainsworth continue to blow hot and cold and continue to appear to be far too laid back/uninterested. People get shot down for criticising their perceived lack of tracking back but I'm afraid it's a base level requirement for a player and failure to do so leaves the full backs exposed. Defending from cross balls is still amateurish and yet we still continue to fail to put any sort of pressure on the crosser?!?!! We were pre-season training in Portugal. Right? The continued deployment, no matter how brief, of Fraser Kerr at right mid is jaw dropping and it would be funny if it was any other team. Going to be extremely difficult to progress now, and if our opponents in the draw tomorrow potentially are Hull, PSV or Torino then I'm afraid we've shat in the nest on a scale second only to Albion rovers if that comes to pass. But remember, we've learned our lessons apparently....

What do people think the reasons are that we haven't got a replacement in for McFadden and Anier yet? Do you think we'll someone in for the start of the season or even the next round of Europe? (if we get through of course) If the Anier deal was a few weeks in the making before he officially left as McCall stated and he had his eye on some potential replacements you would like to think we could've got them signed in time for Europe. Naw? I know we're skint but surely starting the season with only 1 recognised/established striker isnae good? Bob McHugh as a first 11 pick doesn't inspire me at all but if he has to start tomorrow then he should be under strict instructions to knock his pan in for 45 minutes and give Erwin the second half.

You would like to think so but if I remember correctly playing in Europe has hindered the start to our domestic campaigns rather than aided them in recent years.

The Clarkson situation really annoys me too but McCall has decided not to go with him so what can you do? I'm hoping that the quote "too similar to what we already have" is code for "no better than what we already have" and if Clarky has lost form/ability to the extent he is no better than McHugh then he's not worth signing!

How did McHugh look? Is anyone else concerned we head into a massive game on Thursday with only Sutton as our only recognised and capable striker?! And even then it has long since been noted that he can't play as a lone striker.
