Jay is Stephen Craigen!!!!

Exactly the same number of facts which have been stated by those who made similiar claims in their posts.

Dont understand whats pish about highlighting the absolute failure of the chairman to appoint a manger who is willing to commit to the club. failing to obtain a ontractual agreement at interview, time of appointment, and then waiting six months before deciding it was "untenable" yeah boyle is soooo good at his job. DICK!!!

Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager
Burma replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
My point exactly. And why would it suddenly become a major issue today? -
Yeah - pretty much. Fucking genius Boyle manages to fuck about wi our club yet again.
-
Is there any evidence whatsoever that Gannon was applying for jobs down south?
-
There is no one in place. no one lined up, and no one interested at the moment because no has been approached. It will be February at least before we have a new manager in place. Doubt we will make any signings in January but we will lose a few. Young and Craigen will be in charge for the next month. Was there anyone lined up when McGhees protracted and dramatic departure was imminent? Was there any question of a replacement? NO Boyle just aint that smart or interested. Burley will not be coming to Motherwell, we cant afford him or his ambition. Any decent manage proven manager is out of our price range, and any decent ambitious manager is wont stay because we wont shell out the cash. The players clearly have a lot of power at Fir Park. I would not expect us to employ anyone with any kind of track record. Bottom line Boyle will not pay the money to get someone of stature in. We are looking at someone who is currently out of work, and either a rookie manager or a bog standard journeyman.

It was strange how the negative press really only started when he began regularly dropping Craigen, someone with good links to the media. Other managers made more of a big deal and were more critical of referees and the media than Gannon was for a longer period than Gannon was. This refusal to commit was obvioulsy discussed at his interview and subsequently for the last few months, so why did it suddenly become an issue today. What is becoming clear to me today is that Gannon was critical of Craigen in the dressing room (quite rightly so as he was gash) and made comments about players inability to pass the ball (clearly indicating Craigen and Lasley) in his press conference on Saturday night. Both of these guys were told they were out the first team and both went crying to JB who sided with them. As for his applying for jobs down south. Unsubstantiated rumour. No basis or evidence of that from anywhere and it certainly was not the impression gannon gave in any of his interviews or at the forum. In fact he often claimed the very opposite and stated that he was here for the long term on many occasions. Not exactly the sign of a man looking to leave was it.

Yass - Away Lucas - Away Ruddy - Away Coke - Away Hateley - Away Fraser, McGarry, Ftizpatrick, Craigan, all back in the first team then? Forbes, Hutch, Slane, McHugh, all back to being n the bench. cant wait to see our new 4-5-1 formation. cant believe this insane decision. And for all you optimists out there. lets be realistic, there is NO-ONE lined up to step in. In my opinion this has clearly come from the "older" players who did not figure in Gannons plan. Insane decision. Im now preparing myself for the relegation dogfight - the blame for which will now be layed squarely at Gannons door by those who hated him. I am really struggling to see where we go now and Burley wont be coming. Doubt Tango will be either, as Utd have more pulling power than we do. What first division managers are out of work right now?

Post of the season!!! Im not even gonna try and debate with the short sighted "old head" loving brigade on here.

In Craigens previous three games, which all came in the space of 2 weeks i think, we shipped 8 goals. 6 against St Mirren in two games, 2 to Accies. Interestingly the Hearts game which came in the middle of these we kept a clean sheet. Guess what? Craigen didnt play that day. As for your stats by my reckoning Craigen has been in a team has shipped 11 league goals (not including the 3 we lost in the cup to St Mirren) in 7 games. As you included the games he was subbed in your stats then so i have. This changes Craigens stat to 1.57 goals conceded per game. If you include the cup then it becomes 1.75 goals per game. Also of the six clean sheets we have kept this season Craigen was involved in only two of them.

If Ruddy goes then thats a blow - would be hard pushed to replace him and Bombscare would not be someone I wold be happy pulling on a Well shirt. If Yass goes then Saunders can go to right back and Hutch goes to centre half If Lucas goes then McHugh steps in If Jim O Brien goes (no big loss) then Slane comes in If Fitzy and McGarry go then.........so fuckin what??? More money for Gannon to bring in the guys who he thinks ARE good enough. If Reynolds goes then we make some real money and Gannon can bring in a centre half or right back. If Craigen goes then we can stop worrying about his failure to play the ball out from defence and losing his man. Hopefully punting Lasley will allow money to bring in players, and from Gannons interview yesterday, and his comments at the forum last week its clear he is looking to bring in a good few players. Its called rebuilding. He done the same at his previous club and it took about a year or so for his efforts to produce success. As Alex Ferguson said "it takes two years to build a team" and Gannon has consistently said he wants to build a team.

Should we lose our next game the management team should be immediately replaced before the end of the day. Should we lose to accies on the 2nd then the club should immediately be shut down. Failure to do either of these things in the 100 per cent guranteed certainty of our impending defeats will only result in embarrassement for our team, club, and the whole of lanarkshire. Perhaps then certain people in our support will be satisfied. Take note the three old fuds in the cooper.

Lasley was never anywhere close to being a decent player today. May be the lay off or the fact that he is struggling with injuries. He made very few forward passes to completion and was a poor substitute for a fully fit Forbes. Every time Craigen is in the team we ship goals like no ones business and again it was like watching McGhees defensive system with the man marking and the failure to clear secondary balls. Craigen done ok marking deuchar in the first half but utterly failed to control his man in the second. O'Brien was his usual self today. Lots of nice wee tricks, clever runs, plenty of pace, and absolutely no end product. I was very excited about O'Brien at the start of the season but in truth he is easily taken out the game and is a poor mans Aiden McGeady. I have no recollection of him scoring, setting up or creating a goal this season other than falling down in the box and winning penalties (which he doesnt seem to be able to take either). I am not too worried about his imminent departure. Hopefully these three WILL go in January and Gannon can use the money to continue bringing in the guys who will play his way. This is a rebuilding process, but for some reason many believe he should only be allowed six months to completely rebuild an entire team and make them top three challengers.
-
Yeah lets change the management, the system, and the playing staff in mid season. Lets clear out the skillfull fast players and make way for the first division hammer throwers. Oh yeah and lets spend our january transfer budget on compensation for Gannon and Partick Thistle to bring in McCall. And we should do it with the proviso that the new manager is only allowed six months to turn us into challengers for third place. And lets do it today. Fuckin genius idea.
-
Absolutely. Agree 100 per cent. Anyone who is unwilling to play for the manager is unwilling to play for the club. there are at least three guys who were playing today who need to be moved off the wage bill to make way for those who want to be here.
-
Dont really know what it means when you "lose the dressing room". Sounds lke nonsense to me. And Hugh Keevins knows fuck all about Motherwell having never seen them play against anyone other than celtic and rangers.
-
3 old boys in the Cooper who moan like fuck throughout the entire game but thought that Craigen was bringing stability to the defence!!!!!!!! I think our support is lacking in both IQ and perspective.
-
Today we went back to the big diagonal punt with the experienced heads on the park. Worked a treat didnt it. The sooner we get back to the "tippy tappy pish" the better. Craigen, Lasley, and O'Brien are welcome to leave as far as im concerned.

Well thats what I assumed although Bob did start against ICT and scored in that game. What annoys me the most about this type of reporting is that its lazy. That was a fact that was easily and readily available to me, and yet the guy who is paid to report and research his subject matter doesnt care enough to do it right. Its fairly typical and it would not be tolerated by his superiors if he were doing it week in week out with the old firm.

CELTIC should have wrapped up victory long before Marco Fortune came to the rescue with a spectacular late winner. But the Hoops will be thankful they made life difficult for themselves because it let the under-fire striker become the hero. Fortune has struggled to provide value for money since his £3.8million move from Nancy in the summer. But one swing of his right boot 10 minutes from time produced a rocket shot that flew past John Ruddy to keep Celts on top of the SPL. It was an outstanding goal and settled a thrilling game. Celtic opened the scoring with another superb strike from Georgios Samaras but Well roared into a half-time lead thanks to goals from Lukas Jutkiewicz and Mark Reynolds. Aiden McGeady levelled but it looked like being another frustrating day for Tony Mowbray when Barry Robson missed a penalty. However, Fortune came off the bench and netted within seconds to send the travelling support wild. Mowbray decided to go with the same team that crushed Aberdeen last week. That allowed Samaras to join Scott McDonald up front again but something still seems missing in their partnership. The strike duo are often too far apart and need to play in tandem more. However, the Greek striker was a threat and scored in 14 minutes. He gathered the ball inside the Motherwell half and ran past three defenders to open up a sight of goal. Samaras then cracked home a terrific finish from 14 yards but Well's defending lacked conviction and boss Jim Gannon would have been angry. Celtic's backline also didn't look clever as they allowed Motherwell to seize the initiative before the break. The Fir Park side levelled in 26 minutes when Robert McHugh whipped in a cross to the near post. Artur Boruc came for the ball but got nowhere near it as Jutkiewicz nipped in front of the hesitant Gary Caldwell to score with a lovely finish. Gannon's men then went ahead on the stroke of half-time when Glenn Loovens failed to deal with Tom Hateley's free-kick into the box. The Dutchman could only flick the ball to the back post and Well star Reynolds - left unmarked by Andreas Hinkel - nipped in to shoot past Boruc from close range. Celtic felt aggrieved at being behind and showed great determination in the second half. Mowbray's men pushed forward relentlessly and could have scored five after the break. McGeady was denied twice by Ruddy in the first half after superb runs but the on-loan Everton goalie had no chance in 52 minutes. The Hoops winger collected a pass from Samaras inside the box and created half a yard for himself before rifling home a left-foot shot. Celtic knew they couldn't afford more dropped points away from home and went all out for victory. Ref Charlie Richmond helped their cause in 65 minutes when he pointed to the spot after Samaras was tripped by stopper Steven Saunders. The Greek wanted to take it but couldn't get the ball from Robson. And Samaras must have been raging when the midfielder's effort was saved by Ruddy low to his right. The Well keeper played a blinder and made another outstanding stop to deny Samaras from close range. Mowbray threw on Fortune for left-back Danny Fox as he went for broke and the gamble paid off. McDonald laid the ball into the striker's path and he took a touch before crashing home an unstoppable 20-yarder. Despite the defeat Gannon was happy with Well - and rightly so. He picked a young side and they made the Hoops work extremely hard for their victory. Steven Meechan and McHugh were handed SPL debuts and both youngsters did well. The Steelmen played some nice stuff and weren't frightened to get the ball down and make passes. They just didn't have enough from middle to front to penetrate Celtic and all Gannon needs is a bit of experience in his side. If he has some money to spend next month he should go for an older head. The Well boss will also hope to keep Ruddy. His loan finishes next month but the keeper could hold the key to a top-six finish. As for Celtic, they've now claimed four wins on the spin - but the team still seems to be lacking a few things. Mowbray will try to sort it and he needs the backing of his board. How much more one sided can the press really be. Apart from the unforgivable error of claiming that McHughs 11th appearance for the first team was his debut (a mistake i doubt very much would have been made for any old firm player) there was no mention of 16yr old Pollok getting a game. In truth I beleive that given the financial disparity between the two clubs (we bring on a 16 yr old and they bring on a £4million Champions League striker) we can be more optimistic than celtic fans. Beating us by the odd goal in five does not make you a fantastic team. Gannon is trying to build a team, Mowbray is trying to buy one, hence the final comment Mr Guidi. Mowbray NEEDS millions to beat teams who have nothing.

My effort. Although its not really related to new players. Its more of a club/terrace anthem. Anyway feel free to laugh. Its untitled and to the tune of "hoist the colours" linked below. (use your imagination and replace the words) The Dossers were forged in the fires of the ‘Craig Steelmen, iron and hammer. Given a ball and told to play In colours of Claret and Amber. Yo Ho All together Hoist the colours high Yo Ho Motherwell Never shall we die Then a came a man – Sailor John Who rose from the slums of the Steel Town Iron spirit and razor wit He won the Scottish crown Yo Ho All together Hoist the colours high Yo Ho Motherwell Never shall we die In ’52 and 91 The Steelmen fought for glory Heores arose and legends were born Onwards marched the story Yo Ho All together Hoist the colours high Yo Ho Motherwell Never shall we die Beaten and broken and cast in chains They took away all our gold But from the smoke of a dying club Rose the spirit of old Yo Ho All together Hoist the colours high Yo Ho Motherwell Never shall we die
