Straight Question To The Board Of Mfc Re. Rangers Newco
steelman1991 replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
Ha Ha your logic is as sound as those who suggest Scottish Football couldn't survive without Rangers. It will survive and so will MFC when you and the other vocal minority withdraw their support. Albion Rovers core support is little short of 250, its been that way since I started watching football (my mate used to be season ticket holder and won the 50-50 7 weeks running) Ours has been a little more, but rarely over 5,000. Crowds in excess of that figure tended to be boosted by large travelling supports. Our core support, despite how important you think you are to that number. will I doubt fall below that level. Enjoy your Saturday, Sundays or whatever in the future. -
Straight Question To The Board Of Mfc Re. Rangers Newco

Why don't you just give it to me big boy - or are you not up for it. I will and I'll enjoy every last minute, same as I have for the last 45 years. But you mate can take your principles and shove them where the sun don't shine, better still nip off and join the Green Brigade, because its plain that your heart doesn't really lie here - they'll no doubt welcome you and your principles with open arms. Time for you and others with similar views to either put up or shut up - don't wanna come back - don't let the door smack you on the arse on the way out, support like yours won't be missed. -
Straight Question To The Board Of Mfc Re. Rangers Newco
steelman1991 replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
See you guys - IMO fortunately you won't be missed in the grand scheme - we've lost supporters throughout the years, who have decided not to go for whatever reason and held our core support - like losing players we've survived before and will again. Couldn't care less what happens with Rangers (NEWCO, OLDCO, CVA) my love is and always will be Motherwell FC and nothing, but nothing will change that, or my financial backing to the club. The league has been corrupt and one-sided since its formation and has actively favoured the Brothers Grimm - only now its in the open. Deal with it and if you feel the need to walk away then do so, but give it rest telling us time and time again that your going to - or are you trying to convince yourself that its the best thing to do. -
Champions League Tickets For Well Society Members
steelman1991 replied to gilmour's topic in Club Chat
LOL - I don't think its either of us, rather the OP, who, other than demanding parity with Season Ticket holders in any European Ticket allocation, doesn't make things very clear. In his first post the OP states that he isn't buying a Season Ticket, because it isn't financially viable, therefore I would assume no adult Season Ticket = No free child ticket. -

But he's not getting one - so he can't get any through the 'wellevate' scheme. Hence he need to by his child a ticket. -
LOL funny you say that - on the way from the Airport somebody mentioned the area resembled Lanarkshire (pit heads and steelworks) - the only difference was they were working.

Thing was it was the only thing it had. The supermarket next door to our Hotel had nothing on the shelves for the 2 days we were there. Desolate place.

Very much so. But as my Brother-in Law and I were just discussing the other day - the atmosphere's between the two days - 1991 and last year were quite marked in comparison. The party atmosphere of 91 seemed to give way to a rather sterile build up to last years final. Perhaps just because I was 20 years older, but don't think so. Look at Brandon Parade a sea of C&A and compare it with some of the SKY footage on you-tube of last year, where it looked like they struggled to find anyone in Motherwell colours. Still didn't stop us enjoying the build-up, party with lots of alcohol, C&A (bunting and flags) music and lots of 'well songs. Great memories of both days.

Little to do with our support and everything to do with larger travelling supports. Watched Motherwell for over 40 years and with the exception of the odd 'special' games, our support has rarely nudged over the 4,000 mark. We won the 1st Division in the 80's against Clydebank in front of just over 2,000 fans. This isn't just about Motherwell though, every other team in the country has suffered. Football was/is habit forming, get out of it and its hard to get back - 3.00pm kick-offs (Wednesday's for midweek games), ooh and while we're at it the re-introduction of the 'Macaroon Bar and Spearmint Chewing Gum' vendors. -
Apparently suffering from 'back spasms'. Get intae them, front two look like a nice combination. No punt outball, having to play football and we look better today for it.

And you've suddenly just realised this? You've only had this epiphany here and now. Good god man I thought you had been following the 'Well for years too As Fatcalf is fond of saying - "the more things change.....the more they stay the same" There's never been any sporting integrity. -
Straight Question To The Board Of Mfc Re. Rangers Newco

Both sides of the divide have shafted us, in varying degrees over the years, from paying under the odds for players to intimidating officials and manipulating television deals to their own ends. Wasn't that long ago that the same charge was being levelled at us - the cheats element that is. We tried to finance success with money we didn't have, the only difference was who the money was owed to. By all means do what your principles dictate, but again all you will be doing is penalising your club, while the 'hoardes' continue to follow their team, without so much as blush. I am happy that the board will act in the best interests of my club and if they and the rest are able to achieve change as a result, then the SPL may become a better, less ill divided place. -
+1 for me.

Principled football fans - what next? Personally couldn't give a flying f..k what our board vote - Motherwell are my team and I certainly won't disadvantage them. -
I see that very expensive private education paid dividends

Can only echo those sentiments Jay.

Just away for a paper

Can't f.....g believe it - followed Motherwell for over 40 years - we get a sniff of Champions League football and I'm on f......g holiday in Majorca. Any chance we might draw a Spanish club? Cheap flight to the mainland.
-
That was just the 'We're Glasgow Celtic - we do what we want" attitude - the Green Brigade have to sit/stand together no matter what - and typically the police and stewards do nothing about it. Just wish I could win the lottery and would happily gift the club the cost of making it a scum free stadium.

I'll ask the question old Jimmy Sanderson used to on the Radio Clyde phone-in " were you at the game caller' how in gods name anyone can say that Higdon had a good game couldn't possibly have been - these touchs, flick ons etc that I keep reading about must be a figment of your imagination - they're actually his attempt at control and they bounce so far away from him that they give the impression of a flick on. Difficult to defend the big fella recently, but he's been crap for a few weeks now and its little to do with formations and everything to do with ability - or lack of it. Oil tankers turn quicker than he does. He wasn't particularly any worse than others around him, but comments that he won lots of good headers and fick ons and 'he was my pick as MOM' are ludicrous and so wide of the mark. Still I guess that's what called opinions and what keep this forum interesting - sometimes.
