Thank god others don't have quite have the same cynical attitude as you do - and yes you are right the majority of the girls had chosen a team to support - and it was MFC. Those who become C&A members, will probably already have that allegiance, therefore it is no gain in attracting young supporters. Unlikely that the Soccer Shools will introduce anybody who the club are not already aware of, in playing terms, to the Club. Again they are likely to already have a link with the Club. The whole excerise was by and large self-funding (parents paid £25.00 per month to see their offspring run out in C&A and I understand the club benefited from grant funding as a result of having a Girls team), arranged fundraising to purchase medals and equipment. Little was asked of the Club financially or supportively and in true Motherwell style, little was given. Doubt whether anyone has been fleeced - so sorry to disappoint you. What might have been daft was allowing their heart to rule their head - the vast majority of the parents, girls, volunteer coaches and organisors were/are Motherwell supporters and wanted nothing more than play for a team that bore the name MFC Girls. Your attitude quite frankly stiinks and I trust you will know doubt have plenty to say, when at the next opportunity you are being fleeced by Motherwell. Crawl back under your stone.

Not so much to do with getting a pitch to play on - though that is a bonus , more to do with the total lack of interest in all things to do with the Girls section. At a time when virtually every other SPL team is encouraging growth in this area, MFC are left with no representation at any level in the women's game. As I said earlier all the parents paid for the privilege of their daughters turning out in the Claret and Amber and to be treated in such a derisory way is quite frankly disappointing to say the least. 'Scotland's Community Club'? - my arse - time to ditch the slogan

Loved the Liverpool banner at Stamford Bridge the other week - "He who betrays always walks alone". Obviously more suited to Liverpool Love "We're only here out of common courtesy", far more apt

Didn't think the feeling of beating McGhee's Aberdeen would be eclipsed - but it has, oh the sweet glow of contentment
-
Yes - the 'choir' was bolstered by some friendly lads from Govan that night. Game played under protest - due to a flu outbreak in the squad.
-
Not even worthy of debate - MFC everytime.
-
No need to justify your non-attendance to me or anyone else - my comment was tongue-in-cheek. Anyway I'm sure the 'true' supporters will be there and won't be long in telling us that they will .
-
Possibly - but his reason was that 'away games cost too much' - none of the other futile excuses that you've trotted out.
-
Hmmm - Can't see the why you would miss it because it was on the Sunday, it would still have been an away game on the Saturday
-
What Irish guy? EDIT - its OK realised you were talking about Gunning after I posted.
-
Urban Myth I believe. Their names were on a list circulated to a lot of clubs, ours being one of them. Don't believe they ever pulled on their boots at Dalziel Park, or wherever we trained in those days.
-
Well that'll be that then - hardly the only place to carry out transfer business

Lets have it - 45 years on the rollercoaster - still can't sleep before these games. SteelmaninOZ - yes 3.00 pm KO

That's why you never got back mate - no one was allowed on the bus sober. Did you think all buses were like the Central Branch? And all the way to Easter Road on a fiver (changed days indeed). Another time we made our way to a midweek game at Tannadice - just after Roger Hynd had taken over. Got as far as Kinross and the bus fan belt snapped. Driver refused to attempt to take the bus on any further. Tried to flag a few buses down but all were full (again changed days) and he eventually decided to turn around and get the bus back as far as he could, and call for a replacement. Managed as far as Kirkliston, where we all piled into the New Liston Arms Hotel, where lo and behold they had a stripper on (Honey - and she was) - where was Decorator when you needed him. Pissed, stripper and as we found out later the game had been called off at the last minute - result for the West Lothian/Shotts boys.
-
Me too - travelling from Motherwell I'm afraid. But might take you up on the offer WHEN we get to the final.
-
Definitely - started by myself (ably assisted by Andy Knott, Jim Stevenson (now in Australia I believe) and Gordon Eadie). Ran home and away for the best part of 4 seasons - again before apathy set-in. Actually started from Bathgate, through Armadale, Whitburn, Harthill, Shotts. Don't remember pciking up in Newmains other than for some away games - the Fergie brothers. Yeah crazy bus, piling off at Clydebank, though having to drive back with a few windaes short. Arbroath in the Cup (52 seater with over 80 on it) the bus rocked when we hit Arbroath, chased the Lichties all the way up that hill at the monument - again a few windaes short on the return trip. Aberdeen - when we had to wait for a relief driver - the other got pissed in the 'Welly Boot' and couldn't drive home and many, many more. Crazy but great times.

Moved to Ibrox on the same day we played Morton at Cappielow (a very wet Wednseday night - but weren't they all at Greenock). His club car was impounded from the car park outside Fir Park and he had to get a taxi to Ibrox to sign the deal (well make his mark). Also had several run-ins with Ian Livingstone (then chairman, I think) over the disaplying of the pictures of the 2 treble winning h*n teams that adorned his managers office. An absolute clown of a manager - and we've had some clowns in my time, but he tops the lot. Placed Brian McClair on the transfer list because he refused to go full-time, preferring to continue studying at Uni - Until Celtic came calling of course.
-
Aberdeen didn't give him a 2.5 year contract - Blackburn did Or are you talking about Judas - can't quite make my mind up who you were referring to.
-
Of course you would Celtic and Rangers always know well in advance, just that its unusual for the press to let the cat out the bag
-
I'm not buying into this 'respect' agenda either. Where does this respect and courtesy extend to John Boyle and MFC? - a telephone call to the Club 'just to let you know we are in talks with Aberdeen'? - bollocks. He is no better than either McGhee, or allegedly Gannon (though no one has yet provided actual proof that he actively sought alternative employment) and yet we should all agree that he is some 'gentlemanly saint' in the words of Jim Royle - "MY ARSE" Time to be respectful and walk Craigy - thanks, but like everyone before you - 'don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out'.
-
Congratulations indeed, best wishes to Mum and Joshua.
-
That's the root of the problem Delboy - plenty of empty promises and no delivery. The parents of these girls, pay handsomely for the privilege of representing MFC and get the grand sum of NOTHING in return. The difference in attitude between Hibs - on Saturday - and MFC is obvious, not just within the club, but based on the comments by some of the under13 boys on this site, also the support. The response from the Hibs and to be fair the Motherwell support on Saturday was tremendous and as others have alluded to the MFC Girls should be afforded at least the same opportunity as their Hibs counterparts and parade the trophies won this season.
-
Only the fact that I know some of the girls actually do read this thread, prevents me from telling you exactly what I feel. As the others have said just don't read it you plonker.
-
You heading through?

Sorry lads can't agree with any of the assessments. Always wanted him to do well, but tonight again showed his limitations - erm two legs and no ability. He certainly has the ability to breakup the play, unfortunately it tended to be when we were in possession rather than the opposition and in my opinion he contributed little to the team at all. Purely my opinion, but really didn't see the marked improvement commented on here.
