In fairness I read someone say he wasn't signed in time to be involved today

I would have said Ayr beating Ross County could be viewed as a slight shock.

Probably wasn't the Christmas present she was hinting for to be fair

2019’20 game 19: Kilmarnock (A) Sat. Dec 21st 3pm

Agree with this, they are clearly trying outrageous stuff to try and force their way in to the team. Not necessarily a bad thing to be honest and I'd rather have subs coming on feeling they have to do something outstanding to get in the team than having subs coming on when we are behind and feeling too scared to try anything because of a lack of confidence -
2019 ‘20 game 17: Hearts (H) Sat. Dec. 7th
Bart Verheul replied to texanwellfan's topic in Club Chat
I liked the fact that of the 3mins of injury time, 2 and a half of them were literally in the one corner before hearts eventually were given a sympathy free kick by the referee only for the keeper to balloon it straight in to the east stand. -

The 'Magnificent' David Turnbull Discussion Thread
Bart Verheul replied to sailor_h's topic in Club Chat
Saw Graeme McGarry tweeted that so you have to assume it'll be a done deal anytime. Apparently according to Graeme McGarry in today's herald, Man City had asked to be kept informed. Also in the same article it suggests we have a substantial sell on fee included. -

Maguire is playing in the play off final versus raith for Queen of the South is he not? -
I can tell them what the 2017/18 fixtures should be and if anybody fancies a wee flutter I can predict the scores for you too.

There wasn't a failure for me yesterday, the back four never looked troubled and I can't think of an easier 90mins that Gillespie will have had since he came in to the side. Main held things up well, pressed well, finished we... on the bench, hastie was quieter but still got a goal and looked dangerous on a couple of occasions. Campbell was his usual self, he almost gets overlooked every week because bar a few games this season he has always been consistently good. The three standouts however were Gboly, Gorrin and Turnbull. Gboly was outstanding in the first half and his unbelievable ability to look like he's lost the ball only to come out with it and leave 2 defenders on their backside is a joy to watch. He doesn't get my vote though as he faded in the 2nd half plus he and Curtis Main have obviously been doing extra shooting practice with Keith Lasley. Gorrin is everywhere picking up loose balls and just sticking his foot in to break down attacks, plus he can play a bit too. He was a very close second but Turnbull was absolute quality and I think he only gave the ball away once near the end with a tired looking cross field pass. He scored 2 and set up the other so on that basis Turnbull gets my vote.

I was in the east stand and there were a few boos when the teams were being read out. I'm sure though there was a slight baws up with that and hastie was actually read out as number 28 and turnbull wasn't even mentioned. (This may have been my middle aged ears playing tricks on me though) So I'm going to take an ultra positive view on it, that the fans who did boo were suffering from OCD and the fact that the team lines were read out wrong enraged them enough to react.

2018/19 Game 29: Hamilton (H) March 9th 3pm kick-off
Bart Verheul replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
I agree with you that Scott should be given more opportunities. I also agree that main's goalscoring record is nowhere near good enough but the system we have been playing forgives that more, especially when he holds the ball up and brings others into play like he can. If we are going to persist with this system then Johnson would be aswell leaving as he will never ever fit the criteria needed. Today looked like Robinson knew the game was won and was almost challenging Johnson to prove he can play in that system and put himself back in front of Scott in the pecking order. Trying to find a striker who can do all the things main does well and score goals will be very hard with our finances so Scott should be given the chance to try and make that spot his own for next season. -
2018/19 Game 29: Hamilton (H) March 9th 3pm kick-off

I think gorrin was taken off because he was booked. Probably harsh to say main wasn't good enough to be fair, yes in terms of goalscoring be is nowhere near good enough but I don't think we would have won 7 out of the last 9 playing that system and having Johnson up top. -
I think it's Andy Smith who we had on loan from Preston. I'm sure he was a Northern Ireland striker who was the ultimate heidless chicken.

He was clearly giving Naismith some grief after the winning goal, which deserves a contract extension in itself.

Would it be unfair to point out that hastie has scored as many goals as mccormack has had touches since he's come back -
Deal done according to Tam mcmanus with Scott mullen basically confirming as much

Sorry for going all Eddie May and quoting myself but further digging reveals its a left back on loan and the deal only didn't happen yesterday due to bad weather. 2 +2 =5 etc etc but fingers crossed

Crewe set to sign a defender with football league experience from a team in Scotland and have seen a few of their fans suggesting the bold ATS. That would make sense from our point of view as he appears to break after 45mins of use

2018/19 Game 22: Hibernian (H) Wednesday 23rd January
Bart Verheul replied to MelvinBragg's topic in Club Chat
In fairness to main regarding this one incident, how many times this season has he played with a winger who has beaten his man and then put a cross like that in for him. He's been used to the ball either hitting the first man or getting shelled 3feet above him from the full back in a supporting position. -
Great Post, I think like most people on Saturday I wouldn't have been disappointed had he chosen to go however by Monday morning when the anger has lessened you sit and think who else could we get in that would fulfill all the criteria listed above. I watched the steelmen documentary on Friday night and actually commented how I think Robinson is the manager closest to Tommy McLean we have had. Wee Tommy's side was built from the back and it was a wee while before he got any sort of entertaining attacking performances from the team. My memories may be slightly hazy as I was only 7 when I started going regularly in 1986 but it wasn't until the likes of Bobby Russell and Davie Cooper came in that we looked like we had any sort of attacking threat. Again after last night it's easy to paint things as all being rosy in the garden (it's far from it) but Robinson at least showed that he is willing to send out a team that looked like they wanted to play a bit of football. Of course we now need to try and get a wee run going and not go back to the lose 4 or 5 games in a row by looking like a team that's never met each other before pulling out a performance like that when it looks like the manager's peg is not only shoogly but has come right out and is only being kept up because its caught on the peg next to it.
