  1. born in Lanark, lived in Carluke till I was 5, then Law till I was 18. moved to Anniesland and was there for 14 years, then Larkhall for the last 8 years.
  2. 3pm on a Saturday ye say ??.........it'll never catch on !!
  3. see instead of slating the club for heavily incentivising the Friday night football......here's a novel idea........why don't we just wait and see what the attendance is ??? I'm sure the club will be able to furnish us with the numbers of free tickets given out, and the number of pay at the gate punters, so it wont be hard to work out whether it was a success or not. does no-one think that the club wouldn't have given very careful consideration before offering these incentives ???....of course they would ! I like my 3pm Saturday kick-offs as much as the next man......but I'm open minded enough to try different days and kick-off times if it means an increase in punters through the gate at Fir Park. initially there may be no financial gain (short term gate money) , but if you need to increase the "bums on seats " figure, then maybe a sustained period of incentives are the way to go ?? I'm neither in 1 camp nor the other, but I'll wait till we at least see if the night is a success or not before making any un-founded judgements or accusations.
  4. only highighting this to ask 1 question.... You know the guys in question personally ??....well enough to be able to class them as "neds" ??? nah...didn't think so ! ever thought of a job as a steward .....I reckon you might fit right in
  5. aahhh right......since you put it like that, its all become so clear. we should all just sit down for the 90 mins because thats what some beaurocrat says we should do ???? should we not be allowed to voice opinion if it differs from that of a heirarchy that says so ??? I think its maybe yourself thats actually missing the point........the point is that it is quite obviously deemed acceptable and non-problematic when 5-6000 old Firm fans come calling to grounds all over Scotland and stand for 90 mins bouncing all over the place like a Zumba class on acid, but not for 40 or 50 fans of non OF clubs (not just Motherwell) to do the same thing ?? I'm not having a pop at you personally, but the "thats the rules and thats all their is to it" argument really is rather Draconian to say the least. if more people take a stand against what is effectively bully boy tactics / victimisation by the stewards, then the public pressure will force the authorities into changing their rules.......that is where you cant make them take notice by sitting down !
  6. coming back with the "thats the rules, so thats what you have to do" line / attitude, is all very convenient for people, who like to appear all-knowing and superior. going by your own response, you obviously believe that women should never have got the vote, and the Suffragettes were wrong to make a stance and protest, as "it was the rules that women didn't get the vote" ? you would also beleive that black Americans should not be permitted to use the same bus / school / restaurant etc as white Americans, as when they were protesting to get equal rights, "it was the rules that they were separated" ?? people like you are the very reason that nothing ever gets changed.......you have no back-bone to stand up and make your voice heard.....but love to look down your nose disapprovingly at those who do !! If everyone remains seated (like you think we all should) , then the authorities (more people with attitudes similar to yours) see no need to change from the status-quo. in all forms of communication between the Football Associations in Europe and the fans over the last few years, it has been suggested that the fans would like "standing areas" returned to the grounds........some countries have listened and acted positively (see Germany) , while others have up until very recently stuck their head in the sand hoping the problem goes away (see Scotland). Maybe now that their is actually a club with someone prepared to speak on behalf of the very people who pay their wages (well done Leeanne Dempster) , the footballing authorities might actually have to deal with the fact that the majority of supporters actually want to have the option of standing or not . out of interest.....How many things historically have ever changed without anyone challenging the rules ??? Making a stand does not "make you an idiot " as you so eloquently put it, it just shows who is prepared to try and get things changed, and who is not (see in the mirror).
  7. not naiive in the slightest I'm afraid.......quite the opposite actually. todays media coverage alone is testament to that. Coupled with the very public backing from Leeanne Dempster and the club, I'd say that the very actions of the guys involved has proved to be the catalyst for getting some backing / clarification on what has been for years, a very grey area (and one that has not been policed in a fair or just manner). well done to all involved, and lets hope that in future fans of ALL clubs are treated with the same levels of respect (at all grounds) that seem to be reserved only for Old Firm fans at present. Heavy Hands = Empty Stands
  8. it's not an excuse....more a statement of fact. I cant see how they can feign their "outrage" at 30 or 40 supporters of our club playing a flute and banging a drum behind closed doors, and playing / singing (mainly) Motherwell songs , when they can have the best part of 30,000 (half their stadium) singing and chanting pro-terrorism songs on a weekly basis. if you were to stick your head in the door of any Celtic supporters club up and down the country on a Saturday night, I'd expect you'd hear 100 times worse. also....what "crime" has been committed ?? if they want true "outrage", I could probably nip up to Curlys on a Tuesday night with a camcorder and get them better footage than that ! total non-story, and nothing to answer to as far as I can see. It's not my cup of tea, but each to their own.
  9. saw this the other night. one saying in particular springs to mind......"People in glass houses........."
  10. I'm not saying for a minute that he'll go there and be an automatic 1st pick, but he has more chance of regular 1st team selection at Parkhead than he does down south. personally I'd rather see him down south.
  11. the problem is that he'll get regular 1st team football at Celtic, where as he'd be struggling and fighting for a place on the bench at Everton and Wolves. I think he's been out for too long for the lure of regular 1st team appearances not to be tempting.
  12. .......and according to a very good source , just bought a house in Motherwell. coincidence ?? .....mibbe a possible pay as you play deal looming ??
  13. for the record.....NOBODY HAS ME ! Orange County Dosser is alive and well
  14. just a quick point on this one....... it was said earlier in the thread that the coppers wouldn't go into the South Stand to eject the H.U.N.S. with the King Billy flag, as they would be outnumbered. thats the shitey-ist argument I've ever heard .....they came into the East Stand to eject that wee laddie, and there wasnt 2000 cops in there to do it ! they chose to eject an easy target, for a banner that had already been removed, rather than actually watching / listening to the shite being spouted from the knuckle-draggers that are the very route of the problem ! .....after all, we dont actually need a Police "anti-sectarian unit" presence at Fir Park when we play any team outside the Bigot Brothers........what does that tell you ??? its not rocket science .......is it ??
  15. are or were McDonalds not one of the country's biggest financial backers of kids football over the last few years ?? I dont think you can call it a joke for being associated with a healthy lifestyle......even proffesional athletes and sportsmen eat MARS bars now and again. anyway...lets look at fooball league / cup sponsors...Tennents, Bells, IRN-BRU , Carling ....none of them healthy if abused ........ are you also unhappy at their association with healthy lifestyles ?? *edit* not a dig at you personally.....just that argument that certain Brands shouldnt be associated with sports
  16. joining in the Hughes debate.... I dont know him, but do know his cousin very well. I spoke to him yesterday, and he seems to reckon that we are favourite to land him, but that Aberdeen have offered bigger wages. He also said that his wife and wean were back up here, and that they preffered life in the Lanarkshire area. probably all common knowledge to be honest, but its from a confirmed source (his cousin). I would take him back in a heart beat, as I reckon I watched some seriously good football when he was here before. basically , if we can afford him, we should sign him (imo)
  17. I think the Nitrous being illegal is a myth tbh Gaag....see below Q) Is nitrous legal on road cars? A) The legality of nitrous use on the road varies from country to country, even within the EU. However, contrary to what many people believe (including some police officers) nitrous oxide injection is legal for road use in the UK and many other countries (just as are turbo chargers and superchargers). According to the Ministry of Transport, the Highway Code and the MOT handbook there is no law prohibiting the use of nitrous injection. However just as with any tuning modification, the owner must inform their insurance company and obtain adequate cover otherwise any performance modification would be illegal. Therefore the only way you will break the law by having your street car fitted with a nitrous kit in the UK, is if you fail to inform your insurance company that you have one. Insuring a nitrous injected vehicle has become easier since WON joined forces with Adrian Flux to provide all their customers with a better chance of obtaining adequate insurance cover. Some other insurance companies such as Greenlight Insurance also offer cover for nitrous equipped cars. There is a degree of confusion over the need to have a hazard warning sticker on the outside of the car. We previously explained that nitrous oxide is neither a flammable nor a hazardous gas but it is an oxidiser. There is a legal requirement for commercial vehicles to display a suitable sticker but this does not apply to private vehicles, which are not even obliged to display a green compressed gas sticker. However, displaying such a warning sticker might well be advantageous to you and the emergency services if you were to be involved in any kind of accident, as this would inform them that you were carrying a container of compressed oxidiser. taken from here....http://www.solware.co.uk/nitrous-oxide-kits/nitrous-oxide-faqs.shtml
  18. still wearing my original band, and if I remember right Yir Elder got my spare one last time round ;-)
  19. Jeffers for me.......tonight some of his movement and play was outstanding ! in fairness though.....it was a tough choice as everyone of them on the park in C&A was immense
  20. every time I get one of his emails , it cheers me up no end !! this is mainly due to the fact that I just know that at exactly the same time there are loads of moaning faced cnuts reading the same thing and trying to find fault in it seems to me that the club got slated for years because they didnt have any communication with the fans....... ....as soon as they start sending out regular emails explaining decisions and tactics and general feeling from within the club, what happens ..??????? they get pelters !! definitely a case of damned if they do , damned if they dont.
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/6359481.stm radio commentary
  22. not having a dig at you mate, .......but does anyone other than McCall know who the other 299 names were ??.....if not then are we able to say for sure that there was or wasnt anyone better on the list ?? and can anyone tell me a striker thats got a proven goal scoring record, a history of being injury free, not attached to any club at the moment, prepared to move to Scotland....and play for ridiculously low wages ????? sure as fuck aint a lot of names fitting the bill springing to my mind immediately ! Jeffers wouldn't have been my first choice, but theres a huge list of players that have come and gone through the doors at Fir Park that are the same. some of them have proved us all wrong, some have slipped away un-noticed, so lets give the guy a fair crack of the whip at Fir Park. not comparing apples and oranges, but if you had sent a scout to see Forlan while he was at Man Utd, the report would have been along the lines of "...over-rated and shit . don't touch him with a barge pole!!" a scout watching him at any other club would be raving about him..... tin hat at the ready
  23. got a feelin that we will get Aberdeen at Fir Park. wouldnt be disapointed with that either
  24. sorry, but i just watched his interview , an d he says nothing oiut of place, . re distribution of wealth is well overdue a shuffle, with the old firm skanks takking the lions share of the tv money. where does he say anything wrong ???????
