I spoke with Malcolm Allison a couple of years back, and he said McRae was the weirdest person he'd ever worked with. They had been trying to trace him for a get-together of all the players from Mal's time at City but no-one could find him.

A mate of mine, who's a Shrewsbury fan, said that Humphrey is looking to go back to England. He's from the Midlands and the rumour is both Birmingham and Coventry are looking at him, I dont know if any of that is true, although he swears it is, but he wondered what the deal was when we signed him. Do Shrewsbury have a sell on clause?

I have absolutely no confidence for Saturday, mainly due to the regular disappointments we've had in semi-finals. I never make predictions in big matches like this because I always think I'm tempting fate and they will go against me. I f we play like we did against Dundee United in the last round we should beat them, if we play like we did against ICT we'll get horsed. It's all about which Motherwell team turns up on the day. I hope to fuck it's the right one. I remember the 1970 League Cuip semi-final, that was my first major diappointment with Motherwell, and I've always hated St Johnstone since that day. It took us another 21 years to get to a Final, with umpteen semi-final heartbreaks along the way. Revenge would be sweet, another final would be sweeter.

Ridiculous so it is I get nyself all psyched up and the bastards go and win, I havent had a serious stiffy since the Kilmarnock game. The wife's beginning to complain.

Of course not dont be daft, I was half pissed when I wrote that and never phrased it properly. It just seems that those who were pro the McCall appointment are using the last two feel good victories as justification. I think that's just as stupid as the McCall must go thread after the defeats at Inverness and Kilmarnock. I've said it before, and I shouldn't have to go on repeating it, but I dearly hope McCall proves me wrong. At the moment I'm not convinced he will.
-
You are more than welcome mate enjoy the journey.
-
To be honest I think this thread is pretty stupid. Those of us against his appointment were told to give him till the end of the season, which was a fair assessment. Now those who wanted him to succeed are coming on early on the back of two results. Behave yourselves.

I'm here. My opinion, I think people are getting a wee bit carried away because we won two games on trot. A home cup tie against a Dundee United side that failed to tiurn up and against an awful Aberdeen side that haven't turned up all season. Conveniently forgetting that we had lost our two previous league games to Kilmarnock, and ICT, shipping 6 goals in the process and looking dreadful. I gave my opinion on McCall BEFORE he was named manager. Nothing I've seen or heard since then has altered ny opinion. It seems to me the people on here claiming he's done a marvellous job are the same ones who said we should give him to the end of the season, seems that's no longer an option. We've got three games in 10 days that will make or break our season, Dundee Utd on Wednesday, Hearts on Saturday and the semi-final against St Johnstone on the 16th. Simply because of our inconsistency I'm not confident going into any of those games, if I was I'd give McCall his due.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. We need to muller these Perth farmboys in the semi, I have waited 42 years for revenge. Come on!!

Cassie or Goldie would surely fit the bill for a lassie. My mate had an Auntie Goldie, she was from Donegal though.
-
I dont think it's quite as simple as that, Sky had a windoew last week for a Scottish Cup replay but, because of United's backlog of postponed games, we have had to wait till this week to concluder our tie. Therefore Sky opted for the St Johnstone v Brechin match.

This has got to be the best thread ever. I miossed the parade the next day because we were shooting down to Ayr for my brother in laws brthday.

Not really a fair or sensible question, we cant be expected to have our fingers on the pulse of what's happening at other clubs in other leagues in the way that most people in the game can. Sticking with the same old teabags just because you dont know where to get a better brew is just silly, get rid and then go looking for some decent tea. Set the agenda dont let it set you. I see Ronnie Moore has left Rotherham.
-
I doubt that'll be the case. Simply put if I like it I'll buy it, if I dont, I wont.
-
I hope so, but I'll wait and see what they come up with.

Most of mine have been mentioned, beating Celtic 3-2 in the cup after being 2-0 down, beating Spurs in the Texaco Cup, horsing Celtic in the 1991 semi-final, The Cup Final in 1991, but my fifth choice might surprise a few. My dad took me down to Stoke to watch Motherwell in the Texaco Cup and that was my first experience of a penalty shoot out we won 4-3 on pens. It's all a bit vague although the fact that I was there sticks in my memory.

I looked at the circumstances early on and based my opinion of McCall on his track record. Nothing since then has given me cause to change that opinion. There are those on here who think he cant be judged because these aren't his players, and he should be judged after he's spent some money and built his own team. Who's to say McCall's choices will be any better than what we've got? Remember McLeish? He took wee Tommy's team to 2nd place then ripped it apart to bring in his own people and almost got us relegated. I think we need to see something from the guys he's got here already, something that will convince us he has the nous and skill to maybe take us a wee bit further. Frankly, I dont think he's capable of that and I dont believe we should be allowing him what little cash we have at our disposal until we see some progress on the field. That's my opinion, I dont think I'm being negative just realistic.

To create demand.

I dare say you're right, I couldn't say for sure, for some reason I've always associated it with McLeod.
-
I was sure it was Ally McLeod, if memory serves, he said it was so he could swear in peace and not get sent packing by the ref.
-
I remember my first big disappointment as a Motherwell supporter was in 1969 when we lost the League Cup semi-final to St Johnstone, I would like to erase that particular memory.

My old man was too ill to go so I took the wife's pals wee laddie with his ticket, once I got him home I got shifted and headed down to see my old man and then went on to Angels in Uddingston to meet a few mates, vaguely remember Chris McCart and Jim Griffin coming into the pub later on. Had a chat with big Chris, who said the players were desperate to get away from the official do and get out there and join in with the fans. No idea how I got back to Cleland but woke up the following morning on the recliner still wearing my jacket and scarf but with my jeans round about my ankles and my shoes placed neatly side by side on top of the telly.
-
Does anybody remember the wee box Ally McLeod had installed above the dugouts.

That's two things, but I'll give it a go. I've spent the best part of 50 years supporting Motherwell, and we've had more than one manager I haven't liked, but that doesn't stop me from supporting the club and never will. I get my thrills and emotions through watching the team play football, the last time was against Celtic and I was giving " I just cant get enough" big licks in the East Stand. I cringe at some of the stuff that goes on away from the pitch. Setting up wee committees, releasing questionnaires, sending e-mails from the manager. Fuck that, this is a Football Club, not Take That's fansite, I'm not 14 years old and I don't collect autographs and it doesn't rock my boat getting an e-mail from the manager. If that's your bag fair play to you, but I have absolutely no interest in the "Thoughts of Chairman Stuart".

He's got a big shiny head he's cool as fuck.
