  1. I'm not arguing his competency, but in the matter being investigated there doesn't seem to be a case to answer as both Jennings and the club have virtually absolved him of any wrongdoing.
  2. Bookies are notoriously touchy when they feel they've been stung, but can also be a bit lazy about setting odds. I would suggest 10/1 for a red card in a game between Motherwell and Hearts, indeed in any game, a pretty good bet. About 20 years ago there were a couple of guys in England who calculated that the chances of a professional golfer hitting a hoe in one in tournament play was pretty short. So they asked a few bookies the odds on a hole in one in the majors and got odds as long as 100/1 they toured the country putting bets on all over the place and made a fortune but the bookies screamed "Fix" but as the guys said we asked for the odds and you gave us them, we didn't set the odds you did. Try betting on a hole in one in next months Masters and check the odds you get. I would hope that the bookies are overeacting to a few punters who spotted what they thought was a good deal and tried to earn themselves a wee Christmas bonus.
  3. How can they go after the ref? Motherwell have said they aren't going to appeal the red card and Jennings held up his hands and apologised to the ref after the match. I would suggest that pretty much leaves the ref in the clear.
  4. He can fuck right off, if he wants the job he can apply. Who the fuck does he think he is, thinking clubs should come chasing him.
  5. Am I right in thinking that those odds are for a straight red card, and not two yellows? If that's the case then I think the spotlight would then fall more on the ref than the player.
  6. The belief in Manchester is that Ole is being groomed. He has only left to get some managerial experience under his belt, to see how he handles things in a different environment. Given that Man Utd are believed to be trying to establish a heirarchy along the lines of the old Liverpool boot room scenario, with McClair and Solskjaer the favourite sons the likelihood of McClair appearing somewhere else as manager is not that improbable.
  7. So has my mate Sanny, and he'd probably do just as good a job as Nijholt, being 73, blind in one eye, and more fond of Banana Rum than anything else. Let's talk about folk with a decent pedigree and a CV, not ex-players that fancy a payday just because they're ex-players.
  8. The Club website exactly the same go into history and they believe Mark McGhee is still our manager.
  9. Oh God don't start the Nijholt crap again.
  10. It wasn't chasing the Celtic job that made me lose faith in McGhee, it was his absolute astonishment, and obvious disappointment, when he found out that he didn't get the Scotland job.
  11. Leitch wasnt offered the managers job when McGhee left, and when he left he did so with no hard feelings on either side. He is a Motherwell man and always has been, I wouldn't have any problem with him coming back but it depends at what cost, I wouldn't want to lose anyone who's already here and doing a great job.
  12. All the very best Clarky, great news.
  13. It's up to us then. I've been e-mailing thenm for a few years now but to no avail. Not even an acknowledgement.
  14. Congratulations Craig and very well done. The one thing that annoys me about the hall of fame is it's narrow outlook on the inductees. If you've played for the OF and been capped for Scotland it's shootie-in. Clubs like Motherwell never get a look in. We've got foreigners in there, Larsson and Laudrup, we've got referees in there, Tiny Wharton, ffs we've even got women in there, Rose Reilly. If Sailor Hunter had done what he did with Motherwell in the second half of the 20th century rather than the first he'd have been in there years ago. It is an absolute travesty that he is missing from the role of honour while the likes of Steve Archibald is included. Maybe it's time for the club to take up the case and agitate for his inclusion at the next induction.
  15. Of course it's a ridiculous statement. The young lad has been called up to represent his country it'll be a huge boost for him and hopefully he'll gain a bit of confidence from this recognition. Personally I hope he gets a wee run out and see's what the future could hold if he improves and develops as a player. Surely coming back with that attitude will benefit the club and the player.
  16. Absolutely spot on, when I went to a game with my dad it was the enclosure under the main stand but I absolutely itched to be in the shed. I could see that was where all the fun was. When I started going by myself I headed for the shed and I was right that's where the laughs and the banter was best. The problem now is you cant just walk into Fir Park and go where you want it's all season tickets and the guys that want to do the singing and dancing are spread all over the place. Maybe next season the club should look to establish a spot for those that want to involve themselves in that sort of thing and reserve the season tickets specifically for them. I shouldn't think that would be too difficult.
  17. Aye would agree with that but at least it no longer supports the ego that was Tim Lovejoy.
  18. Celtic only need to point to the fact that McDonald lied to them and state that they do not wish a referee who has admitted lying to their manager to take any further part in their games, they have a legitimate reason. If Celtic did that it would put the cat amongst the pigeons, the SFA would have no option but to accede, how could they not?
  19. Can't agree with that at all, the man admitted he lied to an SPL manager. His integrity is gone, no-one can possibly take anything he says at face value again. Do you think Celtic will be happy to see him appointed to any of their games in the future? He's on a hiding to nothing if he does officiate at another Celtic match, one dodgy decision against Celtic and they'll be up in arms, one dodgy decision for them and the rest of us will just think that's him squaring things with them. If Celtic, as they have every right to do, demand that he does not officiate at any more of their games then how can the rest of the league accept him at theirs. Referee's have to be seen to be beyond reproach, something McDonald can no longer claim.
  20. I've always hated Canterbury's stuff it's too fussy, as my gran would say. That shirt had more kiwis on it than anything else, everywhere you lookedd on that strip, shirt, shorts and socks there was a plethora of Kiwis, It had more of Canterbury on it than Motherwell.
  21. I remember that game as well, Vic Davidson was immense, he had a hand in every goal. We never really looked like losing it either.

    Joe Wark

Danny McGrain played at right back, but was capped at left-back on umpteen occasions because Sandy Jardine had the right back berth. Fine player though Sandy was, he couldn't touch McGrain as a right back. Neither of them were as good as Wark at left back. It was just a case of picking the Old Firm player before anyone else.
