Aye, me too. I'd give my eye teeth to get back the atmosphere that night against Nancy. Fair enough the game itself was a huge let down, but everything leading up to it and the atmosphere in the ground prior to kick off was sensational, in 40 years of watching Motherwell I'd never experienced anything like that night. I dont see how it's possible, but I feel a Champions league tie would surpass that.

Airdrie, always. Accies haven't been in the top league consistently enough to merit the title local rivals. For me in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, derby matches were all about Airdrie and the crowds were always bigger than anything Hamilton brought. Broomfield was always one of my favourite away days.

Possibly, as I say I only heard the tune.

I have to say that I used to love the OF games, but more and more now it's becoming a bigotfest and I just cant be arsed with it. I haven't been to a match against Celtic since the 4-4, when the abuse I got on leaving the ground was horrendous. I had to throw out a perfectly good suede jacket because of the amount of phlegm on it from Celtic fans. It's been even longer since I went to see Rangers at Fir Park.

It was late in the second half and it was my wife that pointed it out to me. I couldn't make out the words but the tune was markedly similar to Athenry.
-
Quick question. Was I hearing things or were we singing a version of Fields of Athenry?

well, unlike Special AKA, I watched it on the telly and more or less agreed with the guys who were there. So, thus encouraged, I'm gonna plump for Giles Coke as my man of the match, although there were a lot of things about the performance which pleased me, Saunders assurance at the back, Hateley's passing, Hammell and O'Briens link up play on the left, O'Brien's pisstaking of Whittaker, and Moutouakil's pace, energy, and skill, the man who it all revolved round was Coke, he was at the heart of everything good in this game. I can't wait to get up there and see this team in the flesh.

It was a shit penalty, because he put it at the perfect height for the keeper and too near the middle of the goals. It's probably the only spot in the goals where, if he guesses right, the keeper will save it.
-
Without slagging O'brien off, I thought he had a terrific game, it was still a shit penalty. It was the perfect height for a diving keeper and wasn't near enough the post. I thought we were brilliant today, Coke, Moutakil, O'Brien and Hammell all excelled themselves. I think this is going to be a very exciting season.

Well done to all the girls they are doing the club proud and take a big pat on the back yourself Angie for all your hard work. It's always great to hear of any of MFC's representatives doing themselves proud, and I've been particularly impressed with the lassies over the last year or so. Best of luck to those representing Scotland and also good luck to Robyn for Tuesday night.

Sky Sports - Motherwell's Greatest Ever Player Nominations
TheLip69 replied to Tartan_Special's topic in Club Chat
I'm not arguing with the result, for my money anyone of them could have won it and I'd be quite happy. It's just the disparity in the amount of votes cast for each man. If it was purely Motherwell fans I reckon Coop and Phil would have been on the same lines as the rest of them, and only a couple of points would have split the winner from the rest of them. -
So did Kirkie Lawson. Whwn I was at school my PE Teacher was Ian Munro who was on Hibs books at the time but went on to play for St Mirren and Rabngers and won a few caps for Scotland in the late 1970's early 1980's. I dont recollect any pupils going onto play Professional Football but as a boy in Viewpark I played football with John Robertson of Notts Forest and Scotland, Ian Scanlon of St Mirren and Aberdeen, Billy Semple of Rangers, and played against both George and John McCluskey.

Didn't we fill it against Nancy? I can't be sure because I was in there that night, but it seemed full to me.

Sky Sports - Motherwell's Greatest Ever Player Nominations
TheLip69 replied to Tartan_Special's topic in Club Chat
Let's be honest here, for Joe Wark to finish seciond last in a poll about Motherwell's greatest ever player is a joke, and I dont believe that would have been the result had the poll been strictly among Motherwell fans. The two players way ahead of the rest are the two with Old Firm connections, obviously voting was hijacked by the scum to try and get their man in, absolutely pathetic. It will be interesting to see if there is a similar pattern with other non OF teams. -
Is he from Bellshill? I've got a whole host of relatives in Bellshill and Mossend named Maguire.
-
If I'm honest I think it's far too early to tell. I believe if we get a top six finish this season Gannon will be well pleased, because, unlike McGhee who looked for the quick fix to see his star rise, Gannon appears to be building for the future and that leads me to believe he may be here for the long haul. I would bet that Gannon doesn't think it's better than what was here last season, but I'll also bet he thinks it has the potential to be better next season.

I'm pretty sure Christian was a Rangers man, if memory serves he had trials with them as a boy.
-
That's what I did and saw Null Vote had 12 votes, for one second I thought we had a new signing. A big Icelandic full back, possibly.
-
Go to agree with that, couldn't give a toss how other teams fare I want Motherwell to win every week, regardless.

Company voluntary arrangement is where the company agrees to pay a proportion, or all, of it's debts from any future profits. This stops creditors from potentially winding up the company to obtain what is owed and keeps a viable company trading through lean times. Obviously with current profits being used to clear old debts places like Equifax are not going to give them a rating as a going concern. It's better for the creditors as well, talking hypothetically if winding up a company is going to net you 2p in the £ against your debts then if a company says we are going to take CVA and pay you 50p in the £ it's easy to see why it's an acceptable practice.

I think we all know the real reason they preferred Burns to Strachan, and it ain't entertainment.
-
I never understood those fans who booed players onto the park until we signed John Hendry. I have never booed the club at any match and never will, the way i see it I'm there as a supporter booing isn't in that job description.

Truly appalling and at such a tender age, my heart goes out to his parents. RIP Mark.
