I think his ability on the ball is unquestioned, but I wouldn't mind seeing him play a wee bit further forward possibly in the holding midfielder role. He does read the game pretty well and if he can make those interceptions a wee bit further forward they can lead to attacking opportunities. I must admit I do like him and I feel he was unsettled by the Rangers approach.

.....and they'll probably release the shirts the day after that.
  3. Did you get in through the toilet windae that's how we usually managed it?

    Paul Mcgrillen

God rest him, and I pray for his family. The Motherwell family seems to be getting more than it's fair share of tragedies over the past few years.

What do you mean "all going well" is there a possibility all might NOT go well? If so what happens then?

A replica is available, allegedly, but they wont allow you to see it, we dont know why they wont allow you to see it, because they wont tell us. Anyway, you're only a fan so you dont count, it's better just to go away and dont ask awkward questions, they just get ignored anyway.
  7. I recollect Aberdeen fans getting marched up from the station with a few policeman walking alongside them and it seemed to kick off outside the old YM at Windmillhill Street. No idea when that was.
  8. I seem to recollect us putting 10 past Hamilton Accies in the late 1960's and I'm pretty sure Joe Wark scored a hat-trick. Not sure if it was a friendly, or maybe even the Lanarkshire Cup.
  9. It must have been claret and amber, because if I recollect, didn't the Argentinians send us a set of Football strips a few years later, during the war I believe, which turned out to be claret with an amber band.
  10. About Slane, didn't we sign him to a first team contract at the beginning of last season? I'm pretty sure McGhee announced something like that when he took him to Austria last pre-season, I could be wrong but the thought is niggling at me.
  11. You dont know where he's playing, but you think he'll be a good replacement for Quinn? How do you work that out? The guy has disappeared off the radar because he isn't that good, lets not go down the road of employing ex OF players simply because they are ex OF players. The guy wouldn't be dear for the simple reason, he's shite.
  12. We can only judge a manager by comparing him to previous managers. So, while it may be personally very annoying to you, it gives those of us who dont get to see Motherwell every week a fair idea of how things are going. I dont think you can avoid the comparisons either, especially when they are going to come face to face at one point.
  13. Funnily enough that's probably the only thing that could make me happier at this moment.
  14. Get in there Jamie, 1-0 Motherwell.
  15. What a player he was and he scored his fair share of goals , 20 in 75 games is not a bad return for a winger. I remember him running riot against Spurs at Fir Park in the Texaco Cup, he was an absolute joy to watch.
  16. I'll be honest and say I had heard of Richie, but more for his antics off the park than on.
  17. I used to watch them im the '70's as I had to work on a Saturday morning it was hopeless trying to get to away games, and with the pubs shut in the afternoon it was a case of going home to watch the wrestling on telly or traipsing up to Fir Park and watching the reserves. Then in the '80's my mates dad, who would stop to watch a game of football in the street, a Motherwell fan who's son turned to the dark side (Rangers) used to give me a call if he was going to watch the reserves and at that time Gary McAllister was just making the breakthrough and he was tremendous to watch. Then in the '90's when I stayed in Cleland I tried to watch as many matches as possible and often I would just jump on the 93 and nip into Fir Park and watch the reserves. I wouldn't knock it.
  18. That's a good idea Manchester United need all the support they can get, coming from the poor half of the City it would be a charitable act to support Manchester's paupers. You know it makes sense.
  19. I remember that Cup Final against Barcelona, Steau turned up and from kick off killed the game, they played for penalties. It was one of the worst Cup Finals ever. In truth they had a couple of world class players at the time in Belodedici and Lacatus and a cracking striker called, I think, Balint. They held out for penalties and their keeper saved 4 Barcelona penalties, Venables was the Barca manager at the time. It was near enough the same side that put Rangers out in the quarter finals a couple of years later, I was at Ibrox that night and Lacatus really put Rangers to the sword he was magnificent. They were u ndone in the final the following year by that magnificent AC Milan side 4-0 it was Van Basten and Gullitt getting a brace each.

Not straightforward as such, but there are ways you can dig out more information. If the company are due to publish their latest accounts you can always ask for a look at them, not generally a request that's looked upon too favourably but the figures will be in the public domain soon enough so a refusal would generally be viewed suspiciously. You can also request trading reports from the same place you get your credit checks. These will generally show their latest trading records and any adverse reports from suppliers, any county court judgements and various other details. You can put these details together with the credit check and, if you have enough of the relevant information you can sometimes make a fairly astute guess at the current state of play. It's an inexact science but if you know what you are looking for you can tell more about a company from those reports than you can from a simple credit check.

Currently companies have 9 months to publish their accounts, so it's feasible that, if we started negotiations a year ago, any credit check may well have been done on the 2006 accounts, as the 2007 accts need not be filed until September 2008. See how difficult it becomes now?

I go to Edgeley Park now and again to watch the Sharks, used to watch them more often when they played in Sale, rugby tops among the fans while fairly respectable comes nowhere near the percentage it does at Football, about 8 or 9 years ago I went with friends to watch Leicester and the situation was fairly similar.
  23. Last time we had a Humphries on the wing was in the 1950's when Wilson Humphries got to three Cup Finals in two years with the 'Well.

It wouldn't, if you are checking someone's credit rating it's generally based on their financial records from the previous year. Few companies will have filed their 2008 accounts yet, so most records showing will be from 2007.
