How many tops do you think they sell? How many Leinster tops do you see on the beaches during the summer? Would most people know one if they saw it? Like they recognise Liverpool, Man Utd, or Arsenal. For all Leinster fans there shirt sales would probably be dwarfed by most SPL clubs.

Joy! Are you joking, I've been sick since we got in tow with Canterbury. I cant come on here shouting the odds about Canterbury, when I'm not privy to the deal and, to be frank, I thought we might just have seen it out, but the minute Canterbury South Africa went, well it was only a matter of time.
-
Anybody with the ability to read a balance sheet and a credit report and take the correct data from each one would have given you a fairly poor report on Canterbury. The minute Canterbury SA went, it was obvious Eurrope would topple over next. With the greatest of respect the clubs you mention, Rugby and Football, sell very few outwith their specific regions. For Canterbury to make a success of their foray into Football they needed a big club whose stuff sold nationwide, Man Utd, Liverpool or Newcastle in England and the Old Firm in Scotland. Lets be honest Portsmouth, Motherwell, and Preston aren't exactly top class world renowned sides with a bullish overseas market for replica tops are they? With Diadora it was the SFA that kept them alive which puts them in a wee bit of a pickle as changing supplier would have closed the company down.
-
Not bold statements Steve, simple questions, what was the criteria for going along with Canterbury? Take a wee look back Steve, when Canterbury were first announced as our new kit suppliers, whose was the one dissenting voice?
-
That's not necessarily the case, credit checks, I'm sure, would have been done at the time, but those records could have been a year or so old. Did we get a look at the company's updated records before signing the contract, if not, were we advised once they had been published. It's the follow up's, reviewing and checking the company's rating on a regular basis that's needed to keep you one step ahead of the pack. I wouldn't want to comment on how they go about their business but I would be astonished if there wasn't such a procedure in place.
-
It would have and with a major contract like this you would be bound to put it on constant review then any anomalies/inconsistencies would be flagged up, county court judgements, late paying, etc. giving the club a wee bit of warning regarding any problems. I have to say that having worked in Credit control and Credit management for about 30 years it's quite rare for a company with the correct financial infrastructure to be caught out when a major client goes belly up.

I'm well aware of my superlative brain power Stevie but thanks for the confirmation. I dont really give a toss about any of them my concern is with Motherwell, but weren't they all signed up with Canterbury last season?

Aye, Bobby Moore and Alan Mullery at Fir Park in the Anglo-Scottish Cup what a night that was, cracking game if I remember, 2-2 at half time and we lost 3-2 Fulham had lost the FA Cup Final earlier that year as well. Some great nights those Texaco/Anglo-Scottish games.

I'm a bit bemused by the fact that a company we sign up with goes into administration within, what was it, 6 months of the agreement. Did anyone do any background checks, did we get a credit report from Dunn and Bradstreet or Experian, or some other reputable agency, or did we just jump into bed with the first tart that lifted her skirts.

I would say that Borussia Dortmund were a far better team than AS Roma. Domestically and in Europe they have won far more trophies.

I would assume that Albanian TV will be covering the match and it should be available online somewhere.

I think we may be reading too much into this. It's no secret that Craigan is unhappy with the armband and would rather not have the responsibility, and I'm pretty sure in any chat with the new gaffer this would undoubtedly have been mentioned. If Gannon has taken this on board and decided to accede to Craigan's wishes and appoint another captain then Thursday nights match would have been Craigans last with the armband and may well account for his waving to the support.

Get in there Jamie!

I have to go with McLeish as worst manager, he did okay at the start with wee Tommy's side but then decided to build his own rteam and almost relegated us, if he hadn't jumped ship to Hibs and relegated them I really think we'd have gone down. 1 Howard Sameroff 2 Willie Watson 3 Alan Sneddon 4 Karl Ready 5 Tony Thomas 6 Eddie May 7 John Davies 8 Andy Roddy 9 Stevie Cowan 10 John Hendry 11 John Reilly

Is There Anybody Or Anything That Our Support Actually Likes?
TheLip69 replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
The problem is Steve that good news for this club has been few and far between for some time now, the only bright point being the appointment of Gannon quickly soured by the two defeats to part time Welsh teams. Add to this half the team being sold down the swanee the other half not sure whether it's staying or not, the new strip not exactly being the dog's bollocks (as advertised), and the truth is if we didn't moan about it we'd all be swinging from branches in Strathclyde Park. Surely that is what this forum is all about, letting off steam and cooling the jets a wee bit. I dont doubt that the biggest moaners on here will be the ones cheering the loudest when we are needed to back the team. -
I dont think he's expecting the winners to come on here and say "I Won", but what he is expecting, and should have had by now, is an announcement from the club identifying the winners.
-
That depends on whether you're screwing your brother or your sister.
-
The two semi-final defeats in the mid-seventies, against Airdrie (Stuart Rennie taking too many steps) and Rangers (blatant cheating by the referee) respectively.
-
I said at the start that I wouldnt be buying the top simply because it was by Canterbury and I thought their stuff was shite, I took a fair bit of stick for being a moaning faced get, but nothing I've read or heard about the strips since then has altered my stance. I've got two Scotland rugby tops by Canterbury and they are shite.

just a wee bit miffed at this tonight, it's the first game on British soil involving British clubs where there will be officials behind the goals. I would have thought that would have been newsworthy enough to get a few cameras into the ground. Totally pissed that I cant get there tonight but was hoping for a link somewhere. Anyway good luck to the lads and I hope we get a good result, first competitive game of the season is notoriously hard to predict so I'm not going to try.

Today's Daily Mirror says Cardiff are offering £750,000 Mirror

Dont know if this has any bearing on the Jennings signing but speaking tto an ex-Man City player, who still does a bit of scouting and coaching in the area, the other night and he was telling me that there was a fair bit of player unrest at Tranmere. None of them were happy with Ronnie Moore's sacking and the installation of John Barnes, and a few of them are looking for ways out.

McGhee was first quoted saying that at a time when we had Clarkson, McCormack, Porter, Hughes, Quinn, and McLean on the books. Gannon is looking to fill gaps in the squad not replacing individuals.

Just seen the picture of our new management team holding up a scarf on the official website. They obviously couldn't find a Motherwell scarf so gave them a Canterbury one instead, still sticking the badge on the end should keep the mugs happy. Never mind if it's anything like the tops maybe the kiwis will fall off after a wash.
