Shockingly, if the dates are right, I have seen Motherwell play under every manager except George Stevenson and Sailor Hunter. I'm going to lie down.

There are far too many people on here who'd be willing to accept inexperience as long as the person had a Motherwell background. In my opinion we need an experienced hand on the tiller to take us forward. This isn't fantasy football, it's the real thing. You are only 'imagining' that their teams would play good football but you cant appoint people on that basis. If one of the reasons for appointing Nijholt is his track record with young players then he would lose out again due to the fact that McCart has a better track record and has actually worked with the youth at Fir Park, so he'd be a better choice, but I still wouldn't want him, because of his lack of managerial experience. To be frank we should be looking at the likes of Jeffries and Calderwood before anyone else.

You remember wrong, he was always a Motherwell fan, my wife's related to him. Scott was a member of Motherwell Boys Club in the mid eighties, if memory serves they won the lot one season, but for some reason was not kept on and ended up at Dunfermline.

Here's what Gary said last time just before McGhee was appointed But former Well and Scotland midfielder Gary McAllister appears to have distanced himself from the job. "I have not heard anything from the club," the former Coventry City manager told the Daily Record. "But, if I was to come back into the game, I would be looking to go somewhere competitive rather than having to sell anyone that could trap a ball. "You don't expect to go into Motherwell and get millions and millions of pounds to spend. "But, when you take a job like that, you want to have a chance of being competitive rather than hanging on. "That would be my big concern about going there."

Is it any wonder the board can't seem to get anything right in the eyes of the fans when we have this kind of nonsense. You've dismissed two proven managers in the SPL both with European experience, and extolled the virtues of 4 relative novices.
-
Nijholt has had two more years 'coaching' experience and that's totally different from management, the prospect of Nijholt in the managerial seat at Fir Park does not exactly thrill me. I believe we need someone with a bit more managerial experience, i.e. as a manager. Jim Gannon is about the best of the bunch currently being mentioned although his man management skills seem to come from the same handbook as the Kray twins.

Build a 40,000 seater stadium at Ravenscraig, with all mod cons and behind one of the stands a kiddie's playground with a couple of nursery nurses in charge where dad can leave the kids, for free, while he's watching the match. The first four rows in every stand being seats exclusively for kids under 10 who will be allowed in free. Invest heavily in the youth set up and bring in a manager who can work with the best players in the world and also build a team from the bottom up. Sponsor the team myself so that the shirt remains unadorned with any advertising, buy out Canterbury's contract and get Tesco to design the new strip, a Motherwell shirt by Florence and Fred , and do them at £12 in the Tesco's. Put polythene covers over the seats in the away stand whenever the bigots visit, plus have a little machine in the away stand that emits a high pitched whistle at the touch of a button and have someone press that button whenever the bigots start up one of their party tunes. One minute they are IRAing away, or up to their knees, and the next they're in the foetal position clutching their ears. At the start of every season give every Motherwell fan a book with £200 worth of £10 vouchers, make 5 of these vouchers redeemable for each match against the OF, then charge the OF fans the same £50 in hard cash. Buy up the name Airdrieonians and donate it back to Airdrie United, buy their ground tear it down and replace it with a 25,000 seater state of the art stadium and lend them £30million to build themselves back up to where they were and where they should be, just behind us. I long for a decent derby, Accies just doesn't cut it with me.

Harri Kampman was new and imaginative ffs, let's not go down that road again. Let Luc take his first steps in management somewhere else once he's made his mistakes elsewhere i'll gladly take him at Fir Park. We've had enough novices nearly relegate us.

Bugger enthusiasm, we need a manager with a PROVEN track record at our level or higher. We've got a European campaign starting in just over three weeks, and a new league campaign a few weeks later, with a wafer thin squad and very little cash to strengthen it, plus we've just seen nearly 25% of our annual income go down the swanee today. Now is not the time to be giving untried, untested, ex-players a wee shot at the managers chair.

He's come out of this looking quite good, and not just to Motherwell supporters, there's quite a few out there who would like to see the excreable Keevins taken down a peg or two.

Anybody got any links which confirm Setanta has gone belly up?
-
The word legend is tossed around far too cheaply these days, but Willie Kilmarnock merited that tile. RIP

Definitley not McAllister, he distanced himself from the job before we signed McGhee by saying he anticipated starting his managerial career at a higher level than Motherwell, so he can feck off. I dont know enough about Nihjolts post Motherwell career or his coaching abilities to make any comment, but, in fairness, I don't think anyone else does either and he's still getting votes from people who remember him with fondness as a player and that's the way I'd prefer to remember him. We lucked out with McGhee the last time, he was an experienced manager, and if we are going to move on from here we need another experienced man. As much as I don't like him, I wouldn't be averse to seeing Jimmy Calderwood taking over, as long as he leaves Clark and Nicholl behind.
-
I would, it was well known that was the major cause of clubs landing in teh shit with ITV Digital so I'd be very surpised if the SPL or the SFA had failed to take out that guarantee. I would think if the guaranteee was in place it would also explain why they were so swift to handout the money to clubs from their own coffers after Setanta defaulted.
-
McAllister said he didn't want to start as low on the ladder as Motherwell just before we appointed McGhee, I wouldn't take him if he was paying us.
-
I dont care how much credit Adams gets for their promotion, it's still too big a step up from Division two to the SPL and European Football. We need a manager with a track record not just any old clown who once played for us. It's bloody irritating that the majority of names mentioned are ex-players with little or no managerial experience. I don't want any ex-hero's walking in the door with their halos shining brightly, I want a manager that's going to sign players not one that's going to sign autographs.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.
-
Aye well, I never said he was any good.
-
I have a problem with that, I dont go along with dragging in ex-players just to keep the fans happy. That's what Newcastle do and look wher it got them. It also looks like Celtic are going to go down that route with Tony Mowbray. I want a proven manager in the seat, someone who can mould the players into an efficient cohesive unit. I dont care who he played for just as long as he does the job. I've welcomed equally, Jock Wallace and Davie Hay, I've supported Terry Butcher and Mark McGhee when each of them were in charge. Let's not go down the way of dragging in someone "Well-Minded" unless it's to run the club's bars. Employ a manager for his ability to manage nothing else.
-
Jim McInally has done a superb job at East Stirlingshire, anyone think he might be a good choice?
-
I wouldnm't take MacAllister in a lucky bag, didn't he say the Motherwell job didn't have the right profile for him when McGhee got it, in other words we're beneath him.
-
The last scarf I bought was the Nancy one, was that a one-off or will we be doing similar for the upcoming Europa matches? I suppose it would really depend on the team we are drawn against, but it would be a nice wee collectable item.

Any Fans Here With No Connection To Motherwell/lanarkshire ?

If SHE reads it, it could also be his last.

I have to say that if McGhee is going anywhere it is most likely to be Aberdeen. Celtic appear to have approached Coyle's agent, and spoke to Swansea about Martinez, and that tells me McGhee is unlikely to be on their list as he would surely have been approached before those two, neither of whom have experience in the SPL.
