  1. The one thing that always annoys me about the 1991 Cup win, is that we didn't have band on the strip. I know it's petty but it niggles at me for some reason, it's the only flaw on an otherwise brilliant acheivement.
  2. If memory serves, there was a fair bit of moaning when the Admiral kit came out because the fans wanted the band back on the shirt, and I'm pretty sure there were noises made about it's return which proved to be unfounded. I have no idea whether this had anything to do with the situation you describe.
  3. Top Mill is right, in about 1971 a mate told me that here was a guy selling tops at that factory for 10 bob. (50p to you young guys) I climbed the stairs at the side of the factory and the guy only had two left one was a red and white striped shirt like Sunderland's and the other blue and white stripes like Kilmarnock's. I chose the Sunderland one as I didn't want a shirt from another Scottish side.

    Pubs

Yes and the kids an also watch you get smashed out of your face at home with it as well. Still I never said it wasn't weird. To be honest I was grateful for it, I dont like kids in pubs and the vast majority of the punters don't like it either. The only ones who did were those who used it as a babysitting excercise.

I used to run a couple of pubs in Manchester, and the police advised us this was the case.

The law about children in pubs is that they must have a room for them, Children under the age of 14 are not allowed to witness the purchase of alcohol.
  7. I remember MacRae playing for either a Scottish league team or the Under 23's can't remember which, but I'm pretty sure the defenders in front of him were Jardine and McGrain and they were passing it between them when an attacker broke through and MacRae came out and dived at his feet ending up with a broken wrist. He was out for months. I was speaking to Malcolm Allison about him a year or so ago, and he said he was a terrific 'keeper with great agility but a complete headcase who wanted to play centre forward in training.

I'd love to see them try it, a half-decent lawyer would wipe the floor with them. "Your client, Mr McCarthy, claims to be a true Scot and a long time Scotland supporter, but isn't it a fact Sir, that most true Scots, most Scotland supporters would gladly donate limb for the privilege of pulling on the dark blue shirt and marching out at Hampden, and isn't it a fact thamt most true Scots, most Scotland supporters when approached by any other nation would answer with that weel kent two word phrase in which the second word is "off". Your client also claimed that he supported Scotland and wanted to play for Scotland but Scotland "didn't think he was good enough" so he opted for the Republic of Ireland. This true Scot, this Scotland supporter believed his nation, the nation he loves and supports had cast him on the inrternational scrapheap, AT THE AGE OF 16, his chances of a Scotland cap had passed him by, BEFORE HE HAD EVEN LEFT SCHOOL. You dont think he's been a wee bit premature here do you? I know a 52 year old man whose last game off football was a kickabout with his grandaughter in the back garden, he still sits by the phone when a squad is being named. You see, he IS a true Scot, he IS a Scotland supporter. Your client isn't and wasn't, he may think otherwise, but then agin it doesn't appear that thinking is one of your client's strongpoints, does it?.
  9. Dont be daft, the next fine after that will probably £50k and who knows how much it will be the time after that. Even an £80k repair is cheaper than the alternative.

Oh God, Oh God, Oh God, (rocks back and forth in chair) did you have to bring that up again. I was 21, I was one of the crowd at Hampden to wave them off. I still flush bright red whenever I think about it. The whole nation bought into that fiasco, dont you believe anyone who says otherwise. Thank God for Archie Gemmill's goal, it's thinking about that which gets me back on an even keel. Good old archie, aahh that's better.

Random or not, the very fact that you had one is surely a cause for celebration.
  12. I'm really surprised at your choice of 'keeper. I never thought Stuart Rennie was that great and when he took too many steps in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Airdrie and they scored with the resultant free kisck, costing us a place in the final, he went down even further in my estimation. We've had plenty better 'keepers before and since. I really dont understand that selection.

But that is you, and why should Supersteelman do that just because you would. See what i did there? Used your argument against you because your argument was, and indeed is, pish. a As far as I'm concerned he's Scottish and turned his back on his country, all this pish about "he would have chosen Scotland if asked". He doesn't do the choosing, Scotland chooses, and you wait till you are asked and accept it gratefully. Ray Houghton, Tommy Coyne, and Owen Coyle all spoke to the SFA when approached by the Irish, and were given their blessing. Did McCarthy? Did he hell! Like some first night whore he jumped into bed with the first person that asked, fluttering his eyelashes and claiming to be flattered. He can fuck right off. The bottom line is, he's Scottish and no other country should be good enough.

  15. ...and an Ipswich supporter second. Read an article by him some years back which was all about his love of football, Liverpool and Ipswich were his teams, Motherwell didn't get a mention. I would have remembered.
  16. I signed up ages ago and I reallly like it, however today's was dated 9th January instead of February.
  17. I find it a wee bit ludicrous St Mirren fans complaining about "dirty" Motherwell players. Did Billy Abercrombie not receive THREE RED CARDS in one match against us?
  18. The thing is that St Mirren and Motherwell have a fair bit in common. Both towns are a fairly similar distance away from the bigots in Glasgow, one to the east the other to the west, both towns empty on a saturday with punters going to see the bigots, and both teams have a similar fan base. With all these similarities it must be galling for St Mirren to look across at us and see us doing so much better than they are. They see us playing in Cup finals and semi-finals, playing in Europe, and beiing roundly applauded for our attacking entertaining football, all things they can only aspire to. Let's face it they must be sweating cobs over there as they are due another wee sojourn in the First Division, only Gretna's inadequacies last year and the appalling start by ICT this year has given them a prolonged stay in the SPL. If history tells us anything it's that St Mirren will, sooner or later, fall through the trapdoor. So let's not get ripped into the St Mirren fans, let's give them some sympathy, show them some pity. That'll make them even madder.
  19. Hopefully they'll give him a bit of confidence to score in the Cup against his old team, St Mirren, next Saturday.
  20. This story about Gullit, reminds me of when we played Ajax in a friendly late 70's early 80's and apparently we tried to arrange deals for a couple of their younger players. Cant remember any names but I remember reading that enquiries had been made at the time.
  21. Wait a wee minute, what about John Hendry. Spurs paid Dundee 50K for John Hendry and in a 5 year career he played 1 (ONE) match for them. Spurs had been loaning him out with a hope of him striking a deal with another club, it didn't happen. They couldn't get rid of him, along comes Alex McLeish and offers them four times what they paid for him, yes he paid 200K for him. There is nothing in Hendry's career that warrants that amount of money. I couldn't uinderstand it at the time and I understand it even less now. Although I can understand now why Big Eck kept coming to his defence when the fans were booing him.
  22. As far as I am aware it was Bobby Jenks who spotted Neil Lennon, when he had the youths over in Belfast for a tournament. He was signed but I think it was only on 'S' Form. If memory serves I believe he left because he was homesick.

Surely, if a question is asked on the open boards that is where it should be answered, not by PM'ing someone. Has anyone from the Trust addressed the question as to why an organisation, supposedly representing the fans, is fighting a losing battle with those same fans?

The more posts I read from Frazzle the further away I get from ever joining the Trust. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that assessment. Weeyin, you were bang on. Of course our Sidney's only interested in the punchline, not the storyline.
