  1. Yes it sounds outrageous but it's testament to the improvement in his play that we can say that without fear of contradiction. Clarky has ALWAYS impressed me, even when he was going through a bad patch under Malpas he was still trying his heart out. He doesn't hide when the going gets tough and always gives 100%. I reckon he's a much more important figure to the team than anyone else.
  2. I have to say this is one game I generally look forward to, as, on the odd occasion I have nmanaged to get to a game there has been plenty of incident and goals. The 4-2 game during the 1991 Cup winning run was a classic, but we beat them by the same score in the league the following season and that was another great game. A few years later we beat them 5-3 at Fir Park and that was some game, I remember a 3-3 game a couple of years back which had came after we beat them 4-2 at Fir park earlier in the season, and then there was the 5-0 victory a few years ago. I dont recollect ever attending a bad game with Falkirk, maybe I've just been lucky. Here's hoping for three points and a feast of goals.
  3. Now that's not very fair, Murdo was alright until his head got in the way of a Dunga Free kick at the World Cup. He seemed to be alright at the time but within a few weeks it was obvious that the damage was worse than originally thought as he left Dortmund and signed for Hibs.
  4. Going along with what's been said it would have to be Porter as Clarky is already on a contract, but if I'm honest, I'd rather lose Ports than Clarky.
  5. Tremendous acheivement Angela, very well done to you and all the girls. Keep up the good work.
  6. I stand corrected, I still hate Louis Thow though.
  7. I remember we were 4-0 up at half time when we beat Hearts 6-1 at Fir Park
  8. Community Projects are probably the most important thing a club can get involved in away from the game itself. Building a relationship with local schools, churches, and businesses should be almost as important to a football club as building a team. If you are speaking to Bobby Jenks you won't go far wrong, I've known Bobby for over 20 years and he's a man with the club at heart and the work he has done with the 'Well youngsters is nothing short of excellent.
  9. Kris Boyd couldn't lace the Saint's boots. The saint scored against the best in England and Scotland and the best defences in Europe. Kris Boyd is an SPL player, he can't and won't score at a higher level. What the numpties that support Rangers cant understand is they need a striker who can score in Europe AND against the likes of Falkirk if they are to progress. They need funds to purchase someone like that and the only player they can possibly raise those kind of funds from is Boyd, and that's only because someone has seen fit to give the idiot that is Alex McLeish some money to spend.
  10. Quality. I did often visit the old site and funnily enough tried to go there yesterday and saw that it had moved. Best of luck with the new site I, for one, will visit it often.
  11. On the subject of Ian St John. I read his autiobiography recently not a bad book but teh man himself comes acrooss as an argumentative wee bastard who never got on with anyone. However that's not my point. In the book there is a picture from a floodlit match against Djurgaardens which the book claims was a Fairs Cup tie. Anyone shed any light on this as I believe our first match in Europe was in 1991 against Katowice?
  12. God no, I hate semi-finals the amount of times we lost out in semi's when I was a kid is unbelievable. It was heartbreaking, I just wanted to see us in a Cup Final. We drew 2-2 with Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final in 1965 and lost 3-0 in the replay, I was at the first one but not the second. Celtic were mince that year they finished 8th in the league I believe but that was big Jock's first trophy with them. Then there was the League Cup semi-final against st Johnstone in 1970, I was positive we were going to win that one and we lost 2-0. Then losing to Airdrie in 1975 because the keeper took too many steps and they score from a free kick. Painful, yes, but insignificant compared to the antics of the referee a year later when we were horsing Rangers at Hampden. Playing Celtic off the park at Hampden only to draw 1-1 and lose the replay 3-0 in 1985. Two years later a league Cup semi-final went to penalties against Celtic and we lost again. The following year it was a semi-final against Rangers in the League cup and we went down 3-1. You can imagine my trepidation as the 1991 Semi-final with Celtic approached, and I'm damn sure you can all imagine my utter delight when we hammered them 4-2 in the replay. The 4-3 defeat to Rangers in 2003 was hard to take, but there was a certain pride from that match as we were expected to capitulate much easier than that. The next semi-final was the League Cup against Hearts when Fitzy wrote his name into 'Well folklore. Maloney's free kick after Kaiser's backpass when we had played Celtic off the park (again), was a horrible, horrible feeling. Semi-finals are a bloody nightmare, they are excruciating to watch and the butterflies in the pit of your stomach never go away until the final whistle. I'm never relaxed at a semi-final they are horrible matches I hate them with a passion.
  13. Must say i agree with most of the talk on here about Motherwell legends and would have Martin Corrigan in my list for sure. However, contrary to quite a few of the posters I would also include Davie Cooper. Cooper had been rotting away on the bench and in the reserves for Rangers and many people in the game and in the media had written him off, his signing for Motherwell was just another stop in his declining years. Coopers arrival at Motherwell not only energised the whole club but revitalised his career, three years after his last cap Scotland called him up again for two more in 1990. He was, after a spell in the doldrums, enjoying his football once more. He had gone on record as saying that his Motherwell career was amongst his happiest times as a footballer. Cooper's influence had a massive bearing on the Cup run, his influence in the team gave even the most ordinary of players a massive boost to their confidence. Just because he happened to be a Rangers fan should not detract from his influence at Motherwell. No, for me, Davie Cooper is, and always will be, a Motherwell legend.
  14. True, but I would say it's a safe bet that most fans would want to know what was happening without all the officialdom and red tape. What i'm suggesting is dispensing with the rigmarole and advising the fans promptly and succinctly. Frazzle has said that, while at the Wellboys meeting last Monday, the Well Trust made a couple of suggestions which would be very significant for the fans. He neither explained what they were nor offfered any clue as to their significance. I can't see any reason for keeping it a secret, but if that's the type of organisation we are dealing with why would anyone want to be a member. The Trust has to be upfront and open, not just with it's members but with the fans it claims to represent.
  15. Well, that's good maybe you can enlighten me then. I've been on their website and checked out their list of "acheivements" a list which relates in it's entirety to themselves and the club. No mention of the fans. I've said this before but it bears stressing, the Trust needs to look at why they are not attracting more members, answering that conundrum will allow them to re-address ways of conscripting (for want of a better word) new members. It certainly isn't through car stickers and t-shirts. The Malcolm Rose question isn't going away, and thankfully Frazzle has acknowledged that. The Well Trust was originally set up to assist the club when it was in provisional liquidation and many fans still associate it with that period and, now we are in more auspicious financial climes, as a club if not a nation, many may see the Trust as being somewhat redundant. That's something that has to be addressed. Frankly communication from the Trust leaves a lot to be desired, and makes a mockery of their avowed intention to improve communication between the club and the fans. Most of the fans aren't interested in minutes and press releases all they want to know is, what was discussed? and what was the outcome? Cut the flannel and give them the details, anyone who wants them can get the minutes from the Trust website.
  16. Can you elaborate on this? What precisely were the points raised and how significant are they?
  17. Exactly, but they continually claim to be representative of the WHOLE support, they are NOT. They have a mandate from their members only, which, they claim is around 5% of season ticket holders. maybe if the Trust took a long hard look at itself, the way it operates and the way it (fails to) communicate, and sorted these things out we supporters might see the value in becoming members. The thing is we are much more likely to be offered a car sticker or a tee-shirt, than get any radical changes.
  18. Not taking your self seriously doesn't mean fucking about. Frazzle's response was pure fucking spin along the lines of, 'it was a lovely meeting, I thought it went well cant really say much the minutes haven't been released and neither has the press release, but we're going to hold more meetings every 4 months' and yet they claim to be acting on behalf of the fans yet it's more important they prepare a press release? Who the fuck for? Who on earth can be interested in this other than Motherwell fans, and why should they pay second fiddle to the press. Quinn91 didn't need minutes to tell us his side of the story, why should the Trust? Dossier, I never said you or anyone of the Trust were tossers, I said that's the way you come across in the posts, theres a big difference. One other thing, if you've got anything to say to me, say it on here, no more IM's okay? I dont know about you, but I've got nothing to hide.
  19. I received one well thought out answer, and the usual sycophantic claptrap from the Trust. Frazzle couldn't comment "until the minutes have been released and the press release is out" yet he still thought "the meeting went well." Not exactly the impression I got from Quinn91's post, who was more guarded about the outcome and thus more honest. I dont have a chip on my shoulder regarding the Trust, to be quite frank I couldn't give a damn, it's just that nearly every post that emanates from the Trust makes you sound like a bunch of tossers. Frazzle managed to out do David Brent in his last post, with his comments on minutes and press releases, and his unmitigated joy at the fact there will be one of these meetings every four months. Of course it's the way you take yourselves so seriously that makes you all the funnier.
  20. For someone that doesn't want to say too much you do go on a bit. This thread was about a club meeting with the Wellboys, not the Trust, it's their opinion we want not yours.
  21. It seems as if there has been progress of a sort, which is pleasing because I believe the Wellboys add a much needed bit of colour to the matchday experience. However, as you say, any progress won't become apparent until both you and the stewards/police etc have a few games under your belt. Keep us informed how things go mate and best of luck to you. Cheers
  22. Why are we enquiring about a loan player from Celtic after the shite hand they dealt us with Kennedy? It's easier and cheaper to get a loan player from Arsenal, or Man Utd than it is from those scum-sucking money pinching barstewards.
  23. That's my recollection as well, at least that's where my hatred of them stems from. We were mugged that night.
  24. Oh come on, last night was only his third game as a starter for Motherwell and, by all accounts, he excelled. How much quicker could he have been?
