that was a sair yin right from the teamsheet being released. no midfield, then no width against five, game over two senior players who had less movement than the flagpoles, staying on the pitch for far too long. and then Vigurs the winger.... its fair to say the extra ten fans that showed up this week will probably no come back.....

Sorry for the delay Dave, lets just say there wasnt a strip option that was suitable. I've been pestering for weeks now, but there were only unused euro tops or boots left, so it was a case of being patient and allowing for the small waiting list. some additions to the squad brought it alive again. I had requested a home top as it was in our budget, they were snapped up, so I made a suggestion to the club that , the Euro strips of players who didnt participate in the 'tour' were re-allocated as 3rd strip/2ndhome strip. this was acceptable to the powers up by' So Steelmenonline contributors have been able to sponsor three players strips this season Josh Law - away strip Lionel Ainsworth - home strip and Henrik Ojamaa - Euro strip err' 2nd home strip as always many thanks to every single contributor I'll prepare 'raffle tickets, one for every £5 contributed sometime during the season, and as always 3 of the people who stuck in a fiver or more will receive the sponsor benefits of strip and sponsors event, invite at the end of the season EDIT: and apologies to Joe squad number '91 anyone who fancies a player issue strip with, Smith 91 on the back should contact the club asap and negotiate a price

for a team thats prone to shipping a few goals ,there is not much in the line of defence in that midfield. could lead to some high scoring encounters!
-
Dom Thomas must be fecking delighted as well

surely thats 'if '

nearly missed this amongst the drivel, reads much like some of the messages I've had from others. the one thing Ive not seen much from those that made it to the game, is the one that Erwin had in the net (on target) dubious or clear cut offside?
-
Coming from a pessimistic feker like you, I'm thinking this probably went as well or better than many of us were expecting the goal is obviously going to taint a review if passion is still running high, 'if only' speculation starts kicking in, as opposed to looking back at winning a point with a depleted team, and witnessing further progression of a couple of the lads. had a few people feeding back now, Leitch and Erwin the standouts, reid somewhere near them, the Lad Ferguson handling himself well for being thrown in, the subs in hindsight being a bit too late, but would they have stopped a really good piece of skill , who knows equally had we anyone fit that McCall would have used? not going for a win, into the second half of only the second league match, with a patched up side, isn't really too much to bemoan, perhaps not freshening it up, could be reflected upon, but then going too ealry twice agaisnt Stjarnan didnt work out either. Still plenty of tinkering to do, lets face it, a sluggish start to a league campaign under McCall isnt exactly a new phenomenon

you are actually as bad as anything else tonight SD, leave it and go to bed or work, steelboy baited and was factually incorrect, nothing new there, move along and read the other comments.

Big Lee, gets behind them and puts ball in the net, linesman decides offside young lad Ferguson getting a few good tackles in , after taking a booking for team? used to think teletxt was brutal but, twitter, Open mic's and the bet365 pitch icons is torture

So how will they line up? ..........Twardzik Reid, Kerr McManus,Francis-Angol Carswell, Leitch, Lasley, Law, .........Erwin, .................Sutton
-
Hoping McCall and Lasley et co, can evoke the stuff they released on Boxing day, when we weren't expecting much and Battled to win the game. 51.Dan Twardzik 03.Steven Hammell 04.Simon Ramsden 05.Shaun Hutchinson 20.Fraser Kerr 08.Paul Lawson) 14.Keith Lasley 18.Stuart Carswell 25.Lionel Ainsworth 09.John Sutton 24.Henri Anier Played that day, and the midfield worked their socks off I reckon we could put a similar team out and employ the same , stodgy but needs must game plan. we need the outball and the speed to break. Id take a point right now, but football has been known to reward endeavour

If they wath the BBCalba 60 minutes they'll get nothing went from the most comprehensive coverage to jerky, erratic and quite clearly rushed editing

Even when he scores mid-week, he'll still get dropped if McCall gets a loan striker in I dont get why Dave thinks a gradual introduction from the subs bench will do him good? or even why he should even drop to the bench? every single player needs game time, the lads played plenty of pro-games and endured injuries that would have taken others out the game other options being a amateur defender thats stepped up to pro-level in Josh Law Bob McHugh or Fraser Kerr ... Erwin dropping out would be crazy on the back of today, as the season develops sure see how it goes, this mentality of other teams nearly men are better than our youth needs to be lost. some will be others will not. for every Lukas Jutkiewicz ther is a Callum Elliot

We had Hammell, Vigurs and Ramsden missing. I'd argue thats two from a regular first eleven and those that stood in were the first choice replacements I'm not buying this understrength line. the team might have been patched up, but since we're not getting told any detail thats a guess It was a decent enough line up and a decent enough performance for the first League game. I was delighted that when we went up, the boss didnt revert to type and try and close it out, as it was, we still let them back into it and poor finishing from them and some terrific work from Dan kept us in front. it was a delight seeing Lee Erwin today, great work ethic and touch and finishing as well, but most pleasing was seeing him hold onto the ball and not just punt it on, to lose possesion, something many of our 1st choice players with hundreds of hours of game time embarrasingly cant seem to comprehend. Law again looked a decent addition, and Fraser Kerr looked like he could actually be a footballer if played back there. Its clear the team still need games, plenty of them coming along 5 in August! hopefully those that played today are still in tact, Wednesday will be a test as it is, another couple out would really stretch us.

A couple of days ago Murray tweeted that is was good to get training session completed and he was looking forward to playing a game on Saturday He's not said which club But I've read on here that mcall said, it was not going to be us? The Lad would almost certainly have started as well But then he could have played a blinder, kept a clean sheet, scored a couple and still be dropped as soon as any of the blinkered 13 were available

Stjarnan at home first

Edited link: https://twitter.com/gordonduncan7/status/497671267936665601 from the press conference this morning Gordon Duncan tweeted that hopefull of bringing in two on loan from England

seeds 1-6 will be drawn from one bowl, opponents drawn from the other

I'm not exactly buzzing at prospect of league starting, but looking at it , St Mirren wouldnt beat Lech Poznan, we (with an moderately attacking line up) were ahead plenty times against Stjarnen, so if McCall allows the team to attack we should do ok. with no defence after an onset of McCallitis, it could be down to who scores one more we have players to do that, let see them given the chance
-
No murmurs at all, but since the club media are in lockdown, not surprising. I'd tend to agree that it'll be later next week or beyond when we see movement, purely on speculation that we need loans from English clubs that have yet to decide who is available not sure about the negative , as any other' may step in and contribute. McFaddens contribution is clearly underrated by some Ojamma, Anier and others highly praised, for similar contributions, yet James was a failure according to them. sure he was injured, pre-season, in a very open interview explained he basically lied to himself about the extent of that, but when he recovered, he was a great asset when used. and since, we are shit? and only team spirit got us second place, I dont see how anyone can readily write off his obvious contribution to that. I dont know the financials surrounding it, I know McCall didnt value him, I dont feel the need to write him off, I would take him back into the squad immediately given the option, I'd sit him down to watch videos of Cooper, over and over again, he has the same skills, but Coop knew that he didnt need to do the running, as thats what, Boyd and O'Donnell etc were for. Faddy wasted his good by trying to do even more, that we all could see the running might not have been what it was.

post, mainly for info , for those that follow the games from far and wide Bauer Radio including, Radio Clyde appear to have cut a deal to cover matches I'd imagine Glasgows buttholes will get most coverage, but Motherwell v St Mirren is the first game to be covered in this area. I have not seen any online declaration, DAB is listed as available, EDIT: heard this morning that match coverage will likely go out on CLYDE 2, so clyde2 live player is a possible option http://radioplayer.clyde2.com/live/ slight chance it fall on http://radioplayer.clyde1.com/live/ usually is a direct copy of the Clyde one, so hopefully that gives some an option, if we are involved

just playing some real games, with a squad resembling the first team squad, normally does it well enough. a little bit of planning goes a long way.
-
dont worry you dont have to engage brain just bash away at your keyboard as normal, but if you even want to consider the pish you spout, go read about things and piece together some facts then come back and give yourself a score out of ten http://mfccommunitytrust.org.uk/?cat=1
