  1. what a monumental misinterpretation of the situation or has your Crystal Ball declared we lose to ICT hard to believe
  2. we have always had both options, at one point is was cheaper to buy the ticket in advance. but on most occasions, after holding a ticket for a much re-arranged game (fuzzy memory) I choose to PATG thereafter I would say if it was looking like a playoff for league position, then a ticket before a long drive might be sensible, was in office today and folk were already in buying them. website is a little unclear at this point.
  3. Am I correct in saying that it is the society AGM tonight? seem to be doing everything possible to keep it low key?
  4. Elephant fly , surely? (or has the Disney channel brainwashed me)
  5. I'm actually still sitting here shaking ma head , just wouldn't know where to start
  6. nah more likely he just has no clue that we have plenty history with a sash an its not exclusive to any colour organisation
  7. Losing the Player of the year, isn't a small thing But I get the jist, Sutty does do a fair bit of defensive work, but isn't Higgy.
  8. Angol and Ainsworth got rode silly in the last game, and how vigurs made it to the second half we'll never know. we needed a well balanced, fit, and very hard working defensive midfield with a equally hard working mobile forward against United. guess we just do not have that
  9. they face 2-3 running at them far too often, due to a combination of half arsed midfielders who have questionable effort to cover, and the fact that we are usually committing a chunk of that midfield going forward.( the same ones that are half arsed in defensive mode) the set pieces we have lost however are tragic and the sheer quantity is inexcusable for a, well drilled and coached defence........?
  10. I go into each season with different expectations Last year, I hoped for European qualification and a wee cup run, an unusually high expectation from me for our club but we had a very good team. This season, top six at the split was the optimistic expectation, and a couple of games in each cup to boost income. that's a very decent point, so most are agreeing that top six and a few cup games would be acceptable at start of season so this season: After: 07 games we were 4th 12 games we were 4th week after LC exit, about to lose 4-0 to United, Albion and 5-0 to Celtic 17 games we were 5th & out both cups, 2 games into good run. (& ICT appointed Hughes ) 22 games we were 3rd 27 games we were 3rd 32 games we were 3rd but starting to look over shoulder back at 4th From that, we had a decent start in the league, then I'd say due to the timing of our good run, expectations were raised, but realistically 4th fighting for 3rd could be a fair reflection over the season Now we are looking at 2 games leading to 37 games where we could be 2nd, 3rd or 4th, but now facing top six teams only and relying on others, the realistic would say 3rd or 4th going into a last game. sure 4th would be disappointing but in no way disastrous or poor, we'll keep those for the cup reflections 3rd or 2nd going into the last game, would be a great season no matter the outcome
  11. I don't think anyone is blaming the fans, but is seems, some like yourself, will not even take the time to understand the basics of the society instead you knock it at every discussion, clouding the situation for anyone reading in. I've got no grievance with anyone who cannot or simply chooses not to join, but I get frustrated when people run the situation down influencing others. The society does not cover losses of £xmillion every x years, Motherwell Football Club manage the business to cover these unexpected losses and plan for break even or if additional income is expected speculate(very unlikely in Motherwells case) That is why after last years loss, this season budget is likely reduced in the region of £350-£500k Please also, do not forget the trading period, that the two consecutive losses were made in. WE voted not to corrupt the league and allow Sevco back into the top flight, that had huge financial repercussions , that were laid down clear for us to see, including the primary items in the budget that could not be changed. Followed by league restructuring, associated costs and prize money much reduced then split to effectively save clubs from meltdown (including us) It's all very well hammering the board from a keyboard, they've been very open and showed where losses were incurred, and then paid back the shortfalls the season after (not the society) You also slate the choice of signed players and yet clearly ignore the salary budget that has been slashed and considerable monies invested in the youth academy setup and excellent restructuring that brings in a huge amount of self funding for our benefit, and all that in the worst financial period of Scottish football for a long time. Its also quite amusing that you say you're not interested in funding the clubs interest free overdraft, but want the club better run? other than a benefactor (hows that worked out?) what would you, propose? the only other way I can see is charge more, for the club to generate that overdraft security and bank it, say £100-£150 on top of a season ticket, and the fans would get nothing for it, meanwhile the club would be open to Coakley, Romanov, Whytes, Greens etc or land speculators, The way we have it for a tenner a month anyone gets to help secure the club, and the majority shares are available for fans control when the fund increases. Perfectly acceptable for you to choose not to join and offer reasoning and I apologise if Ive mis-interpreted your understanding, but it sure reads like you think the society is there to fund the losses every year, that's not the case, all the societies funds still exist, even after two years of frustrating club business losses. PS. I know I sound like a happy clapper on the society front, far from it, Ive held my membership at steel, with funds sitting waiting for the next level. the AGM should be interesting next Friday, they keep yo-yo'ing between goals and frustratingly for me , don't publicly state answers to all these questions leaving hundreds of potential members assuming or in some cases spreading the mis-information. £1.5million sounds scary, but if only 1000 season ticket holders could buy in to the basic level, that takes funding ( or is it pledges if on DDebit?) close £1million, enough to secure the society model, a pretty decent security fund for club and allow steady growth. yes I know its the same old people being asked, but come on, there are some of these people who are effectively getting season tickets for £100per head, doesn't seem unreasonable to ask them to pledge a tenner a month. Don't get me wrong I know most also spend other money on the club, but guess my thinking is, after a ticket, the next pledge should be society then strips, sponsorships, raffles, lotto, or whatever else we put into the club. apologies for long post (again )
  12. I think that's quite an insult to the good work that has been done and to our players. maybe its not perfect but that paragraph implies nothing is done and our players are prima donas
  13. But one thing that's keep s getting lost I feel is that if the club losses money in a financial year, its not society money that pays it, like any business they losses get carried over into the start of the next financial year and its up to the business management to budget to cover those losses. it doesn't take a financial guru to work out that after two years of quite significant losses, that our budget is now cut quite considerably for this year. so the grey area form LDs interview above is that the club need growth on two fronts , we need to earn more money as MFC the business to maintain the relative success. and on the other hand the society also needs to grow its funds to help provide MFC the security. and its a cruel blow that our club has been successful when league income is at it lowest, a few years earlier or optimistically a few years down the line, the league payments would have more than covered losses and provided some capital for security ( i'd like to think and it has been intimated as such, that the club can also put money into the society) maybe the Europa group stage could be the prize we've been working towards............
  14. yeah I'm not sure of the legal terminology but the shares are no longer in general circulation and are sitting waiting on the Society reaching the next purchase point. Society funds remain within the society accounts , until they are used in increments to pay MFC for shares to be transferred into the Society's holding. the money that goes from Society to MFC,to pay for shares is effectively Motherwells money, but the primary function of it is to provide security so the club hold it separately and draw upon it when needed returning it to that account when the situation has passed. so if we had a bad winter with no cash income for a prolonged period, the club would draw upon the funds in their own account that was from society share purchase to pay the bills etc, but when the matches are then played or other income like league payments kick in then the money would be returned to the separate account (this is the critical function of the funds as we do not have borrowing facilities from usual institutions) one additional option is open to club and society, if the club needs more fnds but the society hasn't yet transferred them for shares, the society can loan the club some of its funds. real difference here being that if the club entered an insolvency event it would be the society that was a preferential creditor ( providing no laws had been broken (unpaid tax) or football creditors were lurking)
  15. No, he handed them over in trust, he could have sold until when the first shares were purchased by the Society there was then some time period which has now lapsed , so he has no interest in them they could be sold currently but its a bit of a legal minefield , not least, in that all?majority? shareholders need to agree to any sale. the society being shareholders get significant input into that decision EDIT: and quite significantly if I recall correctly the funds from any 'external' sale of those shares go into the separate and charitable Motherwell community trust ( or a similar entity but I think that's correct)
  16. Boyle has nothing to sell
  17. Aye they got a fair few breaks, lets not gloss over just how awful we were, when the manager choose to shuffle the deck with players out of position and gamble with players hampered by injury, instead of using players who at very least were fit. thought it was the worst we could be although when they had it won we looked as though it could be just a blip, until a few days later. the realisation that injuries mean players need to drop out and that fringe players get their chance was at least forthcoming after that week
  18. Think you only take opponents better seeding in the pre scheduled rounds, for the one extra round Then you revert back to own seeding when , next round occurs
  19. bit early for match thread, but hopefully help get the fee tickets message out for some to see
  20. Saus who? you have to offer same deal to fans in equivalent seating, league regulations why the fuck would we give our own fans in one stand a free ticket for another game for turning up? the suggestion of bolting a free or reduced next game ticket onto the programme is perceived as a loophole to balance the increased premium game pricing effect on a home fan. point is premium pricing across the board is a farce, making people pay extra to come and watch any team in the Cooper with their kids or mates is one big joke.
  21. not willing to commit? think you may have the wrong end of the stick about our situation
  22. but he didn't, sitting at 499 at present I thought? Tannadice the opportunity to make 500
