Enjoyable match yesterday, quite taken aback, by just how great some are describing it, compared to the two before it was a massive improvement, but not the best of the season. every team we have played were better than Hearts showed yesterday, so it was pleasing that with the changes that were needed (and gratefully happened at last) we did the professional job with a some flair thrown in. the only real disappointment was set pieces, at both ends. wasteful in attack and still very shaky in defence. Delighted the three lads go their game time, Euan Murray was really thrown a challenge in at left back (mental that McCall wouldn't use him on his good foot prior) and Cadden got a lift from his cameo, exactly what's needed to keep the boys interested, teammates from past and present all involved in the congratulations for all the lads. created quite a buzz amongst them. Jack had a great game, quite why some have to name him as Carswells replacement I'm not sure, I'd happily see them together, in a Motherwell team some time in the future

Irony........

See I actually kind of agree with this, bar the fact that the season is not over so I don't think its correct to say it definitively. when the accounts figures come out in a year, and we can judge the cuts that happened and we can see where we finished in the league it could ring true or a more modest measure may be that it was a good league campaign for what we had in the team. the measure of the cup defeats isn't in question but its unfair to declare the league campaign as over.

I was going to give a more detailed response in some sort of discussion, the basis of which being based around: We cannot even put eleven fit players on the park at present, Tiny squad reduced budget yet again league positions decided over a season, look a the opposition and realistically consider clubs capability and achievements. top six secured for another season. a few bad results, confidence shot etc but I think the fact that worrying about holding onto 3rd place is the root of your question, there really is nothing to worry about EDIT: PS I'm not happy at losing, I do think things could be better in areas of the team and subs etc, it was a long drive home on Friday, I'm gutted I'm not there tonight making an even more painful journey home, but 14 or so weeks ago we were in a much worse position, the main worry for me is the horrendous run in, we have heading to the split, the squad is on its knees, with many playing through injuries, putting their selves out there. Lets hope their efforts are worth it, what can we do to help? maybe just keep stum would help in some cases

Fans over reacting and not even looking at the situation realistically? no, haud oan, SNAFU

I'll settle for Ainsworth continuing his awesome run of goals and assists and Vigurs continuing from a good first 45 on Saturday hopefully keeping it going a bit longer this evening although you're team looks decent enough hopefully they'll all make it

I worked in the South East of Ireland (where is southern Ireland?) and I can assure you they have very long memories on these subjects , they might currently be distracted by being turned over by those that raped the Celtic Tiger, but the politics will remain as they have for many centuries yet when they get back on their feet. just mention the name Cromwell and enjoy the history lesson. as for the plastic Irishmen from the East-end, blame their poorly educated parent or grandparents for their confused identity, and some very smart instigators who live off the bile

Motherwell FC as sponsored by Commsworld would seem to disagree with that argument.

Not sure how many made it along Dave, I'm still interested in purchasing some shares if you hear of any on option ? The redistribution was for one season, taken from 2nd spot and given to 3rd-12th Going forward It has not been published afaik , with only speculation which itself would only see benefit for us in a relegation situation.

Some good performances , even if most of them looked rusty and off form. if Las played a chunk of the match with ligament damage he's made of tough stuff Big Mick's goal put him in contention, but I'd go with Faddy, not for 90minutes of excellence but he lit the touch paper and instilled belief that we could take the points

I reckon it'll be at our request to delay it until 1pm, since the SPFL called it for earlier give the pitch every minute extra it can have, they'll also probably steer the ref through the good areas first. Maybe if we had another couple hundred grand in the club reserves from society investment we wouldn't be gambling a pitch to get what £15k? - £25k? cash into club

from the match preview email sent out to real fans or everyone on the clubs email register....

Entrance price for all U16's home or visiting fans on Saturday has been dropped to £5 http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/02/10/kids-tickets-reduced-to-just-5/ seems last minute, as a promotion, but fair to do it with Thistle who laid down similar terms before season kicked off for everyone Guess the message is, if you know, even one kid or juvenile, who might be tempted more often let them know or bring them along

The last of the '52 Legends, making it to '91 is a decent life for his generation, but still sad sad news RIP Andy

just for Clarity, Full members (Adults) , do not have a 'membership' renewal date. once the membership subscription payment is made, then effectively under the current setup you are a member, no annual fees are required (at present or in the past, although it could change?) the annual term is not related to 'membership' but to associated bolt on products for want of a better expression (at present) like the currently debated 'benefits' package , which you can choose to renew annually under the current setup, at present I think it's £50, but it is not compulsory to pay this retain your membership of the society, as its essentially a payment to the club for them to fund the benefits package ie discounts etc. there was some talk of removing the benefits option, but it was to be reconsidered as some members declared that particularly on the higher packages that the benefits was a primary reason for taking the level of membership. so it was left 'as is'

Defo a question that needs some clarity in regards to kids, drop an email to info@thewellsociety.co.uk and you should get a response.

unfortunate? or just bad scheduling by having both semi finals on consecutive weekends Screwing up the SPFL week if as is likely SPFL teams make the expected grade

Lots of important information lost on far too many people due to lack of simple decent communication from the Society' and answers to well worn questions never being recorded Please if you think its appropriate, email them and tell them so.... pretty sure they're ignoring me now, as since the early meetings I've asked for FAQ sections to be populated and updated they even said in the minutes of the last but one meeting that they would refresh the FAQ section, not had the heart to tell them that there has never been such a section. Even with todays great decision to email previous survey responders with the direct answer that they could now join on longer term contribution plans, it isn't recorded anywhere to acknowledge members, nothing on twitter, facebook or most importantly the Well society webpage. Be nice to now know, the answer , for current members stepping up to next level, do we get the same terms, as Frazzle mentioned, to move from e.g.. steel to Claret over a longer term. and then some detail can we vary the Standing order i.e. start off with a higher contribution and reduce if circumstance change? say £20 or £30 a month but cut down to a minimum off £10 a month if required and step back up until the jump in membership level has been achieved? again steps forward being taken by the society and as a voluntary board members its not fair to be overly critical , but saying one thing then not following it up leads to frustration amongst even committed supporters

Ive misread that and commented thinking the gripe was the run of midweek games as opposed to a singular game Scheduling in general is a shambles in my mind clusters of games where fans players etc expected to turn out then weeks with nothing Scottish and league cup weekends consecutively, screwing clubs who don't make grade pre-scheduled midweek games in winter approaching the split, where historically there are always games needing squeezed in. I thought 6 games in 30 days from Boxing day costing us £137 gate money pushed it too far but 6 games in the 18 days running up to the split at £129 would test most(and the squad!) so aye, shambles , maybe not on the one game though as I said its to be expected.
-
I'd agree its a shambles but you cannot really argue that there is no need for a midweek game 10 games still to play, 9 weekends but only 7 available, until the split Potential for 'SPFL Fixture Chaos' if winter does arrive

Poland Faroe Islands Germany Finland France Wales Albania Romania Iceland Norway Denmark Greece Spain Russia 14 rounds in modern European competitions and never the same country twice Russia again next time we qualify then
-
they're looking half decent, we'll have to step it up a gear to stay in touch with them the draw and winning, on Boxing day might turn out to be massive results
-
Just an update folks, for got to post in December all the money contributed is now with the club: I put some towards it, and agreed to sponsor Euan Murrays, top for the remainder of the season, no fancy advertising or nights out So one person who contributed will get Stu Carswells top and a night out and a second person who contributed will get one of Euans tops at the end of the season I'll sort out a prize draw sometime before the events are announced. thanks again for contributing

A bit far fetched Frazzle, Man Utd in Europe next season the big dilemma this season is what does 2nd place reward over 3rd? an earlier couple of rounds in Europe is more fun and rewarding? but say £500k extra for 2nd place. Although just league place for qualifying might be the real goal
