big squad does not always equate to quality. At this point in time we cant seem to cope without our main players.
-
on a sidenote how did pearson play? given we lost Johnson, Grant, it's not beyond the possibilities Pearson played although not 100%
-
good point. But has he shown any form in the u20s?
-
he's tricky, but has not got the pace of Johnson or Erwin. Did the pitch suit his style of play, when he did come on? Has he even started a game for us yet? It would have been a gamble much like Sutton's inclusion.
-
perhaps but who do you play on the left that has pace?
-
out of interest what would you have done at half time?

Partick Thistle V Motherwell 11/04/15 - Huge Away Crowd Expected

much like the goalie got slated for a bad mistake against killie, they its only right the striker gets slated for his miss early doors. Critical miss, which has perhaps cost us. -
in hindsight yes Erwin plays up top, and no arguments from me. The gamble failed with an experienced player, who's been scoring for fun in recent games, and bound to be confident. That's the way the cookie crumbles sadly. Who else has Johnsons pace who is on form to replace him? Erwin was probably the only real option, and he did well their against killie. Only question would then be who replaces Erwin, perhaps Moore with his pace would have been better, but then he's similar to McDondald. Which leaves the experienced Sutton who is on form. Of course his inclusion then encourages our defence and midfield to punt high balls to him, which is no suprise given the state of the pitch apparently. As has been agreed this approach seldom works for us. Maybe Thistle were clever and did not water the pitch to much to encourage a more direct game, who knows, other than we got beat.

why bother with remaining games if season is over? Today was a kick in the baws, but being honest our record against Thistle at Firhill aint that great so its no suprise we got beat. We could still lose the next 5 games, and end up in the playoffs, and then skelp the championship team. Anything is still possible, especially given we are only playing teams around us, so why chuck in the towel now, just because todays result did not go as we had hoped. -
sometimes you can only play as good as the opposition allow. Perhaps Thistle deserve credit for stopping us play. There aint much between many of the sides in the league, and the first goal was always going to be crucial. Big Sutton sticks the ball away in the first minute and we go on to steamrole them. He misses, and our chance is gone. They come out at home in second half get the breakthrough with our again lapsed defending, and go from strength to strength. Thats football for you. A win would have been great, but we aint out of it yet by a long way. Just need to dust ourselves down, and get on with winning as many games post split as we can, and hope for the best. At least we aint bottom.

This season is far far from over. 15 points to play for and hopefully 3 games at home. Today was bad, but we are 10 clear of St Mirren. At worst a playoff awaits. Hibs, Rangers and co. aint that great either. -

only thing that changed today was that Partick are clear. I think post split we always had to get at least 10 points to stay safe. I can see the fixtures producing us versus County on last game of season at fir park. -

think the lose of johnson, and no direct replacement, together with conditions has worked against us today. We were never going to keep a clean sheet, and the lose of johnsons pace, ment that the space he created for others was not there, hence the nil for us. -
given our hopeless away form, i hope we get 3 home games. win these and try a nick a couple of points away is a must now.

only positive i can take from this game so far, is that it might encourage St Mirren to think that they can still catch us. Still a few twists left me thinks. -

never had the feeling that we would get anything from this game today. Difficult conditions, changed team, big away support. Just need to win all 5 games after the split. -
It was interesting that the St Mirren chairman was quite critical pre match to the fact that our league still does not have a sponsor. Probably the same thinking of our club. So you've got to wonder why these clubs still continue to back the clowns running our game. Clubs are struggling, yet additional revenue through sponsorship is being apparently snubbed.

McNamara deal on selling players is probably the normal down south. Just need to look at Redknapp down south for shady deals at the expense of the team. Seems for him it was normal to sell players, move club, sign same players to only sell them again, and continue the loop.Of course such a deal being publicised cant help team morale or convince fans that he's looking after utd's interest.

Do we want a big away crowd -
Out of interest. Dundee Utd have not won in 10 games. Looking closer they have only gained one point out of 21 in the league. Pretty shocking how they have collapsed after selling their two players to Celtic. Hamilton have gained only 3 points out of 36 in the league. Now thats a collapse.
-
i get the feeling some on here want us to fail, just so they can say i told you so.
-
glad you were confident at 3 nil. been watching us implode on many occasions to take anything for granted.
-
beat county 2 nil and we would be above them.
