aye and not for the first time either. lets just beat the saints first please before we get ahead of ourselves.
-
bottom line, Brown cant take a little bit of banter, and is using everything to deflect his team failings. Brown is history.
-
you surely not forgotten that young predicted sheep would end the season above us. Might still happen, but the odds are getting longer and longer
-
Brilliant effort again lads. Onwards and upwards.
-
You would think that Jeffers is at the stage where money aint an issue, but a stable club that allows him to perform is more important. Hopefully, he can continue his form for a long time to come in the claret and amber. Plenty of players have come here and rescued their careers, and have shown that the grass aint always greener on the other side. Better the devil you know and all that, assuming they aint chasing the pounds.

nowt to lose in this signing, as long as he stays on the park!
-
finally getting back to the life again after illness, and that result fair helped lift me, thanks MFC, that was a brilliant performance and result. The games comming up are going to be even harder, but with the same commitment and BELIEF, we can get the results we need. Lets finnish this long difficult season on a positive, and make history. Mon the 'well

you might be right about needing a good long rest. Utd's Houston was moaning about having to play a 20 year old full back, yet we deem a 20 year as a seasoned pro!
-
I would think Murphy just off a big striker, and given a free role is probably where he belongs. I also see him as more creative than natural goalscorer. Goodwillie is a totally different player, who is a out and out striker or battering ram. He has the ability, just lacks belief. SPL is a hell of a league for a young creative player to learn the game.
-
Perhaps if Murphy was not punted around the team to accomodate other players, got decent service, played in his best position, got proper encouragement from our support, and that the fans remembered that he his still a young guy learning the game, then he might produce better performances. It was not that long ago, that he was our only attacking threat. Young players will blow hot and cold, and will make mistakes. We just better get used to it, as nothing is going to change over night. Jim, thats what i wa thinking, that perhaps there is a problem between say the board and the players, possibly about bonus win money? Maybe, some of the players know they are aint going to be here next season, and see no point in busting a gut in the league, but will do in the cup, as they can make a name for themselves. In some ways i hope this is the case, as a top six finnish is almost gone, but a wee cup win would be nice.
-
again, the end of the season overhaul is the normal. Thats the modern game, where players and agents chase the money. It would seem Killie have gambled this season and pushed the boat out slightly for better players, and top six finnish. Was it worth it? as they wont see europe, and probably wont be financial better off.
-
oh look another defeat and another bump. Pathetic
-
It seems that the players dont give a rats ass about the league, and are only turning up for the cup games, or old firm at Fir Park. Would that be a fair comment?

If it's true Megson said that publicly then he is a bigger clown that i thought he was. How that approach will ever get the best out of any player i dont know. Reynolds with the correct encouragement and coaching can be a good solid player. The guy has moved into a new enviroment, being played out of position, and playing in a struggling side. Hardly any suprise he's struggled. The negativity and gloating towards the lad, is pathetic and short sighted as for from our clubs sake for financial reasons i hope Reynold does succeed.

Hammell was very effective and was at the heart of all things good going forward, so how you can say that another defensively minded young player would be a better option is bonkers. But then you dont rate him given your consistant moans about him. Hammell is a solid player, probably better going forward than defensively, but then so is alot of full backs in the modern game. Also remember he's played for donkeys years with little or no protection in front of him. Now Gunning is there, they are starting to form a decent understanding. Youve got to feel for Murphy, as time after time he is shifted around the team to accomodate another player, and on this occasion Jeffers, who had a really good game. Murphy is obviously a confidence player, and if things fails to happen for him early on, he tends to struggle. But then we forget he is a young boy who for long parts of the season was our only attacking threat, and is still learning the game. He offered more protection to Saunders than Humphrey, and did ok, not brilliant but ok, as he covered back. Given the strength, talent, experience of Utd, and fact it was their home game, i thought our young players did very well today. Sure mistakes were made at the back, but thats bound to happen. The replay will be just as tight, so i hope we start practicising penalties!

get back to the wage of a pittance and big win bonus

it gets said more or less every season, move on players, and bring in replacements. If only life was that easy. Hows about letting the younger players develop and if that means losing a few games along the way so be it. Some sections of our support are starting to sound like old firm, i.e. high expectations, lack of patience, and over reactions to defeat. Result like saturday have happened to Motherwell since 1886. Only Hearts have shown any consistancy, but they have a big squad. We have a squad of boys with a few more experienced players, who are carrying injuries and probably in nead of a rest. McCall like every other manager will get decisions right and wrong, just like every other manager in the world of football. Very few get it consistantly right from the word go, and if they do they've probably had a wad of money to buy players. When you look at the likes of Lambert, McLeish, Davies and even butcher very few supporters rated them but given time theyve shown they can with experience, mature into respectable and solid managers. We've no money, so we have to show patience and understanding of the problems associated with Scottish Football. McCall out posts from the same posters (we get the message, why repeat it constantly?) are not helpful and silly for a guy thats been in the job for only just over two months. Sure criticise him when he make mistakes, praise him when he gets it right, but lets be sensible about it. He aint going anywhere, and any manager with any sense would stay well clear of Scottish football, as it going down the pan. As for motivation which is the flavour of the month, surely the players owe it to themselves to prepare for a match professionally? Physically and Mentally.

Inverness are as good a side as us,. Thats the bottom line. Outwith the old firm any team bar Hamilton can beat anyone on their day. It only takes one or two of our key players not to perform and we struggle. Their is no magic wand to make players consistantly good. If they were consistant they would not be at our club. They scored an early peach of a goal, we chased game, got caught again and again. The only thing consistant, was that todays result is just typical Motherwell, and has been for as long as i remember. Up and Down. Does not take away the frustrations or disappointment, but things could be worse, we could be in Accies position. Hopefully, the players have been saving themselves for the cup game. see hibs got an equaliser, why helps a little.
-
aye like we have a team of world beaters. We've been up and down for over a year now. Perhaps that players just aint good enough. Something that cant change over night.
-
the key to this game was scoring first. They scored, and then resorted to their usual everyone behind ball, and counter attack. As we chase the game we are more than likely to lose one or two more. Was always going to be a hard game irrespective of Inverness' recent form. Looking at results this is a bad day at office again. No doubt the doom and gloom posters will be along shortly.......... Just need to get into the top six the hard way.
-
dont know how you can say that given he did give the penalty. Many a referee would have ignored their assistant! Given our record when he referee's our games, i dont care about his performance, as long as we keep winning.
-
as i said in the St mirren thread, "would it not be typical if Motherwell beat Celtic". Us oldies know the score, lows followed by highs, thats the Motherwell way. McCall and the player deserve credit for todays result. They've proved to themselves that they can compete, and hopefully this gives them confidence going into the next few games. The question now is, does he change the defence for the next game?
-
would it not just be typical now if we fluked a win against Celtic
-
Why should the groundstaff be excluded from criticism? Mistakes are continually being made.
-
is that Hamilton relegated now? It would appear St Mirren were allowed, not for the first time, to boot us all over the park without any fear of a booking. Combined with the pitch, it was never going to be a pretty or an easy game.
