    Vs Hearts

cannae understand why you move clarkson who scoring goals for fun into midfield. we need a big bit of luck now, as hearts will break up and slow the game down. Then we take him off and replace him with mcgarry! has sutton kicked his erse this half?
  2. How much is Boyle worth? What promises did he make last season? Why no action on the pitch? Why should the fans put their hands in their own pockets, given that many already do pay over the odds to our club in blind loyality and without any appreciation from the club.

you would think fans of teams who are aiming for a european place would be happy that we play on a pitch which is inferior than the other SPL pitches. Surely, it's a major disadvantage to our team, given the way we try to play the game apparently. Todays footballers, pundits and fans are going soft. Games in the past were played in worse conditions, and yet produced better quality and entertainment. Good footballers should be able to play on any surface. Perhaps, if todays players had learnt the basics on first touch and ball control, and learned to adapt their games, then pitches like ours would not be such an issue. If the media want perfect pitches then perhaps they should be campaigning for summer football, rather than focus on a particular pitch in the middle of the winter.
  4. still got to wonder what the 1st half formation was all about. i know money is tight but surely we did not play for a draw to get more money in
  5. 451 against st mirren at home another one of those McGhee team selections which baffles.
  6. thank crunchie! hopefully, the guys can settle down now and score a few more.
  7. we need a goal soon to kill this game, otherwise the latter part of the game is going to be difficult and nervy.
  8. the two we've loaned, are they any better than the youngsters we have kicking in and around our first team? I dont know about the other lad, but from what i've seen Sheradin aint. I would rather we gave our young boys a chance to develop, and save money.
  9. I ment that Porter himself will gain more financially by stalling. He's in it for himself. We got him for nothing and will im sure leave for nothing.
  10. did he also not have a very short speel at Falkirk? I would rather we gave our youth players ago than sign this overrated big headed talentless muppet.
  11. Clubs like ours need players who actually appear to have some affection to the club they play for. Unless someone offers stupid money or he wants to leave, then he should not be sold. Getting rid of such players could upset the harmany of the squad.
  12. There is more money to be had for Porter by not moving just now. I would be very suprised if he agreed to move now.
  13. clock is ticking down yet again to another window, where the squad is in danger of being weakened further. Yes, it costs money to run a football club, but to continually cut and keep cutting the playing staff budget will eventually catch up with us. Even allowing for extensions to contracts to current players & staff, given the amount of wages free'd up by releasing players or selling them, then surely the wage budget aint that much different from previous seasons. Time will tell i supose, when the accounts come out, but it's certainly going to be interesting to see what has happened to the increased revenue from the increase in season ticket sales, higher prize money, european football etc etc. This season promised so much, but in typical Motherwell fashion, our club's ambition and progress has went backwards. Mr Boyle is ment to be a very good business man, with very intelligent people around them, yet from a position of scratch, i.e position to start again, where are the ideas or initiatives to progress our club forward? That german guy we were talking about the other day, had proper ideas, i.e. build a youth academy and build up slowly. What we got and continually get is overpaid diddies, and a crumbling stadium. If their is really no money within the club, stop this pursuit to bring in loan signings and give our youth players a proper chance.
  14. maybe all clubs are waiting for Man City to Spend the £100m which will filter down the leagues...... of italy
  15. so what were these agents doing prior to the 1st January?
  16. there might be 18 days left, but although there is no guarantees any new player will improve the team, points and league placings might be lost because we have not improved the teams weaknesses.
  17. 14 days into the transfer window, and still no team/squad improvements. Not as if these problems or the transfer window appeared overnight! Whats the chances that we get to 1st February with no signings other than the loaned goalie, and then receive a bid we cant refuse for one of our so called better players. So what has happened to this mega McGhee hit list? Who's dragging there feet?
  18. If your good enough you will play. However, many promising youngsters never make the grade due to numerous reasons, and not just because they dont play regular 1st team football. Remember it's the players choice on where they learn the game. Signing for a bigger club carries a big risk. As for James McArthy, Hamilton, probably did not have any other alternatives, much like Motherwell and David Clarkson, and we all see what happened to his form for a number of seasons. As a club we do not do to badly in bringing players through. Some might never be world beaters, but the majority do a job.
  19. Perhaps if our full backs played like full backs rather than wingers, then they might not get caught out of position as often. Also, i bet they would like some cover in front of them or behind them when they do attack. The midfield needs to do alot more, before we can start pointing fingers at every member of our defence.
  20. I seem to recall we had agreed a price for a centre back from dunfermline, but the lad chose to go to Hibs. Given that our squad has also shrunk considerably, and presumably the wage bill (Remember Boyle is apparently picking up some of the wage burden re Porter & Hughes) since McGhee arrived. There is surely money available to bring in bog standard players. Why bother to push the boat out to bring in Hughes and Porter, which resulted in european football, to suddenly decide not to invest in the team much like the Butcher & Malpas eras? We must also be flush with monies if we can reduce the fee for old firm fans. If another transfer window opens and closes without a decent stab at addressing our teams weaknesses then McGhee's & our board of directors need to go. Throughout our clubs history, we have always found gems, and by individuals who apparently dont even have the same amount of contacts in the game that we keep hearing about. Does anyone really know what some or all of our directors do? Does any of them try form links with more wealthier clubs, attract sponsorship or investments etc etc.
  21. If true, thanks ports for your contribution last season and all the best, but enjoy reserve football for the rest of the season.
  22. when results are going against you, it's easy to hide and suddenly become injured! time to see who are the men from the boys. Lets get back to basics, and do what we are good at. Play the guys in their correct positions, ball on the deck, and let them do what they were doing last year. As a wiseman once said, luck is earned. Time to roll up the sleaves and knuckle down. Hard graft, bottle, turst and belief is the way ahead.
  23. Lets draw a line under recent setbacks to global 'well domination, and start afresh. We are the boys and girls of the MFC, and there's nothing better than watching our team battling against the odds. We cant change the past, and the only way is up, so let the battle commence. Merry christmas everyone, here's to a much better 2009.
