  1. Indeed! And leaving the issue of the paper-throwing itself, aside for a bit. I'm sure everyone has a thirst for more of the same from last night in the coming months and seasons ahead and we as supporters have our part to play in securing that. It's all inter-linked. We as supporters put our money into the club through the various different means - the club put the best team on the park with the funds at their disposal and together come a match day we both feed off one another as was evident last night. And that is made a whole lot easier by the efforts of the guys up the top couple of sections of the East Stand. Lessons should clearly be learned about last night's paper throwing but a perspective should be retained. As Jay says going to watch and support Motherwell is a hugely different proposition from what it was even three or four seasons ago and it is great being a part of it.
  2. A lot of what I was going to post has been covered in a few posts already so I won't go overboard on the detail. Feel a mixture of pride and disappointment at the moment. Wonderful to be involved in such an occasion and we certainly didn't disgrace ourselves. Unfortunately we had a latecomer or someone returning from the pisser so didn't see their first goal. It was disappointing, not unexpected perhaps but disappointing but it was really encouraging the way they took McCall's pre-match words on board to keep at it and we went on to turn in a really good display. There was a wee minute in the second where we had them hemmed in, were really pressing for an equaliser and the whole ground was roaring the team on and believing it was about to happen. It was wonderful.....then bang suddenly we were two down. In all honesty I think the tie has gone at 2-0. An early goal for us - it can happen - or a really sloppy and complacent outlook from them and the dynamics change a bit. But as it stands a respectable result and another strong performance will hopefully be worth its weight in gold in experience and confidence for future European tests. Sad to have lost but still a great night - and great time to be a 'Well fan!
  3. First of the new season. You know the drill by now folks, your thoughts and votes please....
  4. I know you are looking for a lift/car share but Citylink can do you a return for £46.80 down tomorrow and back on Wednesday on various buses.
  5. Ticket office number is 01698 338009 Squirrel. Give them a phone if you decide to go late on and with a bit of luck you'll hopefully only have to collect your ticket rather than going through the name, address, payments details blah de blah that you might have to do if you just queue up.

    Away Leg

Working on the assumption that there will be no UK station picking up the game, the next obvious thing to me would be to find somewhere with access to Greek TV stations. That to me would mean Greek bars, cafes or restaurants a few of which can be found here.... The first seems to a general Greek website which within it has a list of a few Greek boozers and eateries. The second is more football orientated with some places that Greeks could converge to watch their games in Euro 2012. >>> Greek London >>> London Town Ofcourse the owners of these places might be AEK or Olympiakos fans and tell you stick your Pana game up your arse but I'd say its worth a call to suss out anyway. Another option might be to contact the Sports Cafe and see if they can put it on one of the screens in there. If you do get something sorted post it to let folk know and we can try to spread the word so you might have some fellow Dossers to watch it with.
  7. Still to get mine sent Finlay. The word was it would be sent out after the 3rd of the 4 installments had come off. Presuming it'll be out in the next few days.
  8. I don't know whether you intend it to be but that comes across as you being rather smug, particularly when you've gone to the point of adding in an edit for which there's clearly no need. Missing the club's first ever away Champions League fixture is clearly not just moaning about anything. If the guy has followed the instructions that the club set out I think he's entitled to feel a little disappointed if he's not made the plane, particularly if he's followed the instructions that the club gave out only to discover people had apparently made arrangements before that announcement was even put out. I can only imagine it must then seem all the more frustrating when it appears some fellow 'Well fans are engaging in one-upmanship.
  9. Pana fans are going to to be in the South Stand, the club are already selling tickets for their section in there via the official website. It'll most likely be the same gig as Aalesund the other year - they will be up the top and the corresponding section below them will be empty or vice-versa. 'Well fans will be in the sections closest to the East Stand to ensure there's as much of a gap as possible.
  10. I'm not sure to be honest SD. What I would say though is that there is an annual sub of £150 for the Claret Well Society package so if there was a still a desire from people to get involved any contributions would be well received towards that.
  11. I don't actually think you can see it now, the way they do the online sales. It's changed from the way they did at around the time of the Nancy game. Sorry if you thought I was referring to the Panathinaikos game.
  12. Really chuffed to say that with a further donation from Steve Diggle we have now met our target of £1000 for a Claret Well Society membership. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to help us get to this point and I'm especially grateful to those who have made donations and further donations on the back of paying for their own Well Society memberships and in many cases putting towards the Player Sponsorship too. Cheers once again to all who have supported this idea so well from the minute it was first suggested.
  13. Thanks for that weeyin. Very kind of you and it did indeed come through at £15.
  14. Bellshill is in the Association yes. I'm not quite sure of the details but when speaking to him last night a mate mentioned there was something in the Motherwell Times about the bus so maybe worth seeking out a copy of that for more info. on what they've got planned.

    Steelmen Forever

It's by Direct Debit I pay, and always have paid, my Lotto fees. I would imagine the paypal option was set up for quick and easy of getting some £50's into the coffers in line with the other items/services you could arrange by paypal when Steelmen Forever was first launched. But like the purchasing of tickets and player sponsorships etc. that isn't the only payment method. You would need to confirm ofcourse but I'm pretty sure that if you went to Fir Park or asked for them to be sent to you, they'd supply the forms to set up a direct-debit for the Lotto.
  16. I suspect you might be on the right lines in terms of where McCall sees Crazy Legs in the pecking order but I'm not quite sure how much can be taken from the beginning of last season. Certainly Craigan and Hutchinson were clearly the first pick central defence with Hateley preferred at right-back. We kept two clean sheets in those first two games so I wouldn't have expected to have seen a change in defence unless forced upon us. Saunders was first-reserve for those positions as was seen when he was in for the Hearts game and he was then injured for Scotland U21's after that. Not first choice certainly but I think its speculative to say based on only those three games he wouldn't have a look in.

    Steelmen Forever

I remember the Motherwell Supporters Trust doing something similar. It's a good few years ago but if I mind correctly you had two options, you could state that your money went towards a specific fund - I think that was intended to purchase shares - or a general fund. One of the folk involved from that era Kmcalpin possibly? might be able to advise on how successful or otherwise it was. I like seeing everyone's ideas on how to help generate funds but I'd say is as well as posting them on here, make sure they get sent on to the club via the Steelmen Forever the official website. You never know if they could be put in action or the might kick start another idea that the club can use.
  18. That's great Sandy. Thanks once again for your support!
  19. Contribution received from Pensylvania Dosser!! Nice one, thanks!
  20. Motherwell89 even more so, Hollis being the secret weapon and all.....
  21. Thought it was an enjoyable wee evening. We looked in complete control early on and the goal was no less than deserved at that point. I don't know if it was the fact we were as much on top that the team eased up or whether Accies got some belief but they came into it a fair bit more as the half wore on and with Randy making a couple of fine saves 2-0 was slightly flatterring. As Tweed says the sheer volume of substitutions in the 2nd half finished things as a contest but gave us another opportunity to see what the youngsters could do. I thought Accies shaded the half in terms of possession but we were restricting them to mainly long range efforts. More good saves from Randy and the penalty again gave the scoreline a flatterring look; but a good win nonetheless. Good to see Hutch and McHugh make positive impacts on their return too.
  22. All received safe and sound Scott, very much appreciated! We are getting very close to hitting our £1000 commitment now -£75 to go and that will be us.
  23. Extremely sad I know but in the run up to the Nancy game, when a similarly high crowd was anticipated, I quite liked taking the odd peak in at the stadium plan to see all the seats become increasingly sold as the game got closer. Just another part of the anticipation that you'll be a small part of something very memorable indeed.
