  1. Actually that particular programme is worth a few quid because of its rarity. It was our last home game of the season and there were only so many of the programme shells left - the text and photos got added in closer to the game. Of course it turned out to be Rangers that we were playing who were going for the title and the little that were printed were sold out by something like quarter past two. I was still collecting programmes in those days and missed out on the programme as well - but some similarly good eggs (Hello Margaret and Jack Leslie of the 'F' Section in the East Stand!) who very kindly gave me their copy. Hope I haven't cost you an extra few quid now 4-3
  2. Had sold 1500 plus tickets by last midweek. I don't doubt there will be more going now given the tie is still in the balance.
  3. I like the way you always have a wee smiley in most of your posts. Suppose it means there's one person that thinks they're funny then.
  4. Don't know if it has been featured in any of the other daily's but there was an interview in >>> Sun Clicky with Mumford (the good lady likes the telly magazine that's my excuse ) but there's nothing really offensive in that one or anything that could be used as a spur for the second leg.
  5. It's also one of the consequences of a team of our size enjoying some relative success. Inevitably vultures begin to circle and look to pick off your assets. Its frustating, you just wish and wonder what we might be able to achieve over a period of time but realistically you just hope that you get a decent fee for those outgoing, it keeps the club on an even keel and that there are more bubbling under to replace those who have moved on. We're not alone ofcourse but at least I think as a club we realise that this unfortunately is our lot and our way of keeping the club going and as a support we are clued up enough to accept it - if not particularly like it. I occasionally dip into the Hamilton forum and they are SO niaeve in terms of what will soon enough befall them with McCarthy, McCarthur and Easton etc. The can tell themselves all they like that they don't have to sell but sooner or later contracts will run down or players will get itchy feet and they'll have a rebuilding job on their hands like ourselves.
  6. Looking like an unassailable lead for young Slane but I'll give it until Sunday morning in case anyone else wants to vote but hasn't done so yet before closing the poll.
  7. Caught a bit of Craigan on Radio Scotland a wee while ago - quite a good wee discussion about Thursday night, Gannon's criticism of him, discussion of some of Gannon's comments about the team and amongst it they brought up the Mumford thing in the paper today. He just shrugged that off and said it would be something for the dressing room wall.
  8. It got lost somewhere in the transfer from Welltrust to Steelmen Online last year, though we did it for a number of individual games but we're going to have the return of the Man of the Match Award this season. Aim is to award 3pts for the MOTM, 2pts for 2nd place and 1pt for the 3rd placed player. If there's a tie e.g we have 3 guys on equal votes for 1st place - they would both get 3 points. I'll keep voting open for a couple of days after each game and put a wee reminder in when I'm aiming to close the poll. I'll update my sig. with the standings after each poll has closed and at the end of the season hopefuly we can make a presentation to the eventual winner and get some folk off the site involved in a wee photoshoot with the winner. Anything else ask away.
  9. Scotland Today news reports they'll show the highlights of the game tomorrow night.
  10. He also mentioned the facilities that Falkirk have which could help him improve which I thought was an interesting comment to make. I believe they use training facilities at Stirling University and while I have no idea how they might compare with the facilities we have but it has been raised as long as I can remember that when bad weather comes we seem to be reduced to spending time on astroturf or indoors in the South Stand. Wonder if Jim Gannon will make any observations or changes in that respect.
  11. Cheers for the information and opinions Kev, much appreciated. He's a player I didn't know a thing about, and I'm sure barring our exiled posters, most on here would be in the same boat so cheers for taking the time to fill us in mate.
  12. Your squad Wellfan? Or your preferred starting eleven and subs? Or from an external source BBC etc? I'm sure hidden away somewhere in one of the threads is the full 25 players or however many it was we had to submit to UEFA. It had the young Polish keeper listed and Ross Forbes in it to name but another two. That said, probably Fitzpatrick apart its not likely to vary a great deal is it.
  13. He's a player I'd have been happy to have in the squad. Even if he had been fully fit I don't think I would have played him ahead of Paul Quinn at right-back and wouldn't have played him ahead of either Craigan or Reynolds in central defence over the last couple of years, so in that sense I think he can be replaced reasonably comfortably. When fit he was a solid player to have around the squad and as a couple have said I always thought he offered a really good attacking threat. All things considered though I think we'll survive.
  14. Actually play is pretty much all Airdrie are allowed to do at *the* ground these days. (I say the rather than their because they don't actually own it). Article in the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser the other week had Kenny Black pondering where they were going to base themselves for training as they had been priced out of using it during the week. Their registered address is somewhere in St Enoch Square in Glasgow. There's a thread on their forum where one of the Airdrie lot has even admitted this could, by some distance, be the biggest attendance they'll have at the ground this season.
  15. Two years was certainly mentioned on Scotland Today last night.
  16. One cap for Northern Ireland Haggis. The Irish FA then discovered that a FIFA ruling meant that he could no longer play for them, though I seem to remember reading something on the 'fishel a month or two back that the rule had been further amended and that he was back in with a shout of further caps.
  17. Noticed that Gannon was photographed in the Metro this morning resplendant in 'Well training kit. Delighted to see him on the training ground even though he's not officially being unveiled as yet. Obviously the more time he can put in with his new players before Thursday the better. Clearly there's a limit as to what he can in the space of a few short days but I have wondered how deeply Craggs might have delved in terms of tactics, formation, team-selection etc with Thursday in mind. I read Lasley saying there was a lot of ball work in comparison to the norm at this stage of pre-season but it surely must all have been with fitness in mind.
  18. School's finished for the summer?
  19. I think with the current squad size that goes without saying for Thursday. Further down the line it remains to be seen who comes in and what position they we are in in terms of squad depth. Certainly the two of them did themselves no harm at all in the outings they've had but I don't know how ready they are for week-in, week-out first team selection. Up to the new manager I suppose.
  20. I think it depends upon what you view as priorities and perhaps how patient and tolerant you happen to be. I have had the pleasure of El Grew's assistance in the past for a programme article and from those dealings in the past know that his passion and long standing support for MFC is strong. What I suspect he would rather be seeing, though I stand to be corrected, is confirmation of a manager, news of contracts, news of new signings etc and in the grand scheme of things regular bulletins of progress on the pitch comes someway down the list of priorities. Personally I've been lapping up the regular updates on the pitch, enjoyed the teasers for the strip and am happy to give the club hierarchy the time and space to make the appointments and subsequent signings that will follow. As I say I think we are all aiming for the same goal even if we are looking to get there at different speeds and by different routes. A bit like the trip to Llanelli if you will
  21. I don't think shifting 1000 plus in two days for the away game is particularly bad. But its a curious one for Thursday. I honestly don't know what would be perceived as a decent crowd. Its kinda unchartered territory having a competitive game at this point in the summer. There's a lot to counter-act the positives of it being the first game of the season and a European match with it being "away" in Airdrie and as Lobey Dosser has already said folk may be away etc.
  22. It says it right at the foot of the page >>> here on the Venue Change announcement on the 'fishel. Curiously though it doesn't actually state that in the Latest Ticket Information announcement though I think the Venue Change article is more recent. Something Flow might want to clarify/amend for your peace of mind?
  23. Sure I read somewhere you could buy them from 6pm on Thursday night at Airdrie?
  24. First up, credit to whoever managed to get the Welsh Champions sorted for a bounce game so quickly. Good work there in terms of seeing what standard we are likely to face on Thursday Ordinarily a result such as the one today could be brushed off without much concern so early into a pre-season. Your average closed door match can be completely skewed with players of each team at various stages of fitness. This isn't really an ordinary situation though is it with a competitive game so soon so its a concern to read how far off the pace we've been. Its a really tricky one in that ideally you would be looking for them to have another bounce game on Monday or Tuesday, but can we really risk that with such a small squad? No manager as yet - officially anyway, some way from full fitness and more potential departures on the back of those who didn't re-sign. Its far from the ideal preparation you might hope for. However all that's said without any knowledge of the calibre of Llannelli, what their fitness is like in comparison to us and at what stage of their pre-season they are at too. Still really excited about Thursday. Increasing bit of edginess it has to be admitted too though.
  25. We had 'Fir Park' emblazoned in large letters on the side of what was then known as our Main Stand. The P fell off leaving us playing at 'Fir ark' some time actually before they fixed. The nickname's just kinda stuck. EDIT: What Gazzy said....a wee bit quicker.
