I though McCarthy choose Ireland because it was his granddads dying wish? It has nothing about Scotland not wanting him. Scotland wanted him last season when he was 17! How young do you have to decide a country doesn't want ye! He really should keep the same story every time. And if McGeady wanted to always play for Ireland why was he capped at youth level by Scotland as a Queen's Park player

Whit! For the first 35 minutes of the game he won everything that came near him. It was so good seeing a player finally being able to jump and win headers with what seemed, at times ease. Anyway, as for my man of the match it has to be the Ulsterman. Craigan was fantastic today, and won almost every header, including two must clears from a free kick and corner. Special mentions to Klimpl, Hammell (another assist to stretch his lead for Motherwell assists table) and Buzz for two fantastic saves. The rest put in a shift too.

Amazingly when we last played them we went joint bottom with them. We're now playing to likely break into the top six. Great turn around from both clubs (added to the fact Hibs are pish). I think we'll sneak it, 1-0 or 2-1

Well my auld man was born in Germany (on British soil) and I was born in England but by god I support Scotland because I was brought up by the auld man to do so. My son was born in Scotland to Me, and to the missus who has an Irish Mother.... doesn't make him Irish! My son playing for Ireland is just like McCarthy doing so because he has a claim to the country. This is why McCarthy is different from say Alexander or even Don Hutchison (if you watched Your on Sky Sports yesterday ye'll know what I mean). Alexander et co were brought up supporting Scotland. McCarthy is also different from O'Brien and McLean because the latter didn't decide at 16 that they were not going to play for Scotland. Infact McLean played for Scotland Youths but was told there was no future for him and he needed football. Wrong reasons to play International football aye but still! Don't even get me on the McGeady part! Who was also capped by Scotland!

Aye same on Hampden for not speaking to a kid who was playing for Hamilton Under 15's or whatever he was when there were bigger and better players at the time taken a grip on the Scotland School Boys playing for SPL Under 17's etc! Infact he was 16 when approached by the SPL but said he would play for Ireland! Ireland had not approached him before this either! As for the Turkish/German whatever. Naw it's naw. 1. What when he was 16! I don't buy that at all. The fact is at the age of 17 he was offered a place in the Scotland squad. I don't mind players going to other nations if they have no chance of playing for the home nation but I'm sorry not being picked for Scotland School Boys does not give a good enough excuse to turn your back on your nation!

It works in Italy, Portugal and Spain (please note B Teams are no reserve teams and no one who has played 12 games for the A team can play for the B team nor can anyone over 26.) McCarthy doesn't even get 10% of the abuse Brian Kerr got last season or the abuse when and if we play Inverness again. McCarthy doesn't even get 15% of the abuse Calum Elliot got when we played Hearts... I see no outcry for these poor white Scottish Blokes.... time we sorted out the abuse our own citizens take while pampering for others as well. FFS! It's a game of football. In other countries alot worse happens, pig heads, mopeds running riots, and all we care about is banning booing and "supposedly" songs that only some people have heard... but only for those who play for Ireland... never mind all those poor Scots that are abused week in week out.

I remember that night well! Travelled from Edinburgh (yes I travelled FROM Edinburgh) to Motherwell to get on one of the supporter buses! What a trip there, then back (after they moved the buses ), but at that goal I thought I was going to fall off the top tier jumping up and doon the stairs with anyone near me! Fucking magic night!
