The biggest problem is at anyone time (normal circumstances) there will be 1 Full Time team and 9 Part-Time teams in the Second Division. Now, if you add on the fact the First Division is going to have a massive boost financially then it is easy to see the Part-Time teams that some-how make it into the First, either by auto-promotion or playoff (will they remain between 1st and 2nd?) they will already be a level or two behind. It also leads onto the whole expanding the top league. If you power up the current First, but do not at the same time do the same for the Second and Third, then there is no way we could ever create a larger top league as the gap would be just too big between the teams that are left behind and those that come up to join them.

Excellent. Instead of a huge gap between top and second tier, there is going to be a massive gap between second and third - which although big now, with the new work-around will actually be un-closeable in the future....

Sadly there about about 19 or so SFL clubs that might not like the proposals. The SPL was an everyone is welcome league compared to the SFL. Pyramid system may not make it in... The Scottish Professional Football League has been mentioned a few times, so the SPL and SFL, will become the SPFL....
-
Highest point total in the SFL. Highest point total in the SFL and SPL combined Ramsden Cup Winner, beating Rangers and Partick First team to win their domestic league
-
Randolph has made more saves in the SPL than any other keeper (double digits more - around 30 I think), almost 80 more than England call up Forster, his only real opposition for best keeper. He also has one of, if not the nest goals to save ratios in the league.
-
Yeah he did, it was announced just as he went off.
-
You mean apart from St Mirren, who they gave a guard of honour to after they won the League Cup....
-
I don't think anyone on here is against making the prize money fairer. Hopefully when the time comes we'll vote to do so, until then though.....
-
Scandelous that it passed without a single comment from anyone in the SPL....
-
No. The SPL clubs agreed to reduce 2nd places prize money to give everyone from 4th down a little more money. 1st and 3rd prize money untouched.

End 2nd and Celtic win Cup - 1st and 8th August End 2nd and Hibs win Cup - 18th and 25th July End 3rd - 18th & 25th

Don't think he'll hit a ball truer than that

Came into post exactly this

tbf to the Celtic fans I have spoken to and seen posting, alot of them think Lennon should shut the fuck up, and stop bringing up the clubs failings (no treble, SPL title won so late etc.) and get on with it.

Player of the Year 1. Michael Higdon - Wasn't actually going to give it to him, but you cannot look past the amount of goals, and chances he creates. For a player that is more than a tap-in merchant to score 24 goals (and counting) this season in the league can not, and should not be scoffed at. 2. Darren Randolph - Made more saves than any other keeper in the SPL. And still manages to concede less than some. We have been spoiled by his ability and wish him all the best and look forward to seeing him get the international recognition he deserves in the future. 3. Nicky Law - Class. Young Player of the Year Henrik Ojamaa - Not scored as many goals as any Motherwell fan would like I guess, but his work rate is second to none, and his assit total counts for itself. Signing of the Season James McFadden - As someone said above, the signing gave us a shot in the arm, which the Ojamaa signing did for us last season. So far ahead of anyone else in the SPL technically. Goal of the Season Kallum Higginbotham - Can't remember every excellent goal (hopefully, we'll get a compliation by the guy who does it via Youtube), but this one stands out, but not just because of the finish, but the lead up to it too. Excellent.

Not really. Ross County won the league at a canter. Dundee were on all tence and purposes a division 1 side forced into the SPL. For every Ross County there is a Dunfermline. Playoffs are pathetic anyway - although 2nd bottom v 2nd top is a lot better than the model the English use.

I think sometimes if you haven't played (or started) 20 games plus a season by the age of 20 at your current club then you're seen as "not made it" by some in the support (even at the club). We moan at not having a squad but then as soon as someone is a squad player we believe they should be done away with sometimes. The only player I would not re-new from our first team squad is Daley - and that is because he's over 30 and not played 20 games (starts) this season.
-
Randolph. From the very first time he was called upon till the end. Even having the opportunity to skin a boy.

STV have done some "digging". There final assessment of the matter is the same as most people here - only an idiot would think that league structure is a good idea. The scenarios that fuck the whole system with regards to "less meaningless games" are:
-
What they are saying they don't have a brancell between them to go out and get a sponsor for a league that show 38-40+ games a season. Is marketed in various games and appears on most news programs in the UK? Wow, just wow, and they want us to trust them with sorting Scottish Football....

So are Motherwell or St Mirren going to come out and say sorry for lying in their official statement? Also, as others have said - excellent statement from St Mirren.
-
Actually you'd be wrong numpty. On almost topic I have seen on the matter most people only put Forster ahead of him as "best" keeper in the SPL. Some even argue the only reason for that is because one plays for Celtic, making him "must be better than anything else" than actual ability.
