  1. Very true, but that leads back to other problems still within the Scottish (and especially our attacking) game. The problem in a Motherwell point of view is our defenders have questionable positional sense, so miss many of those necessary headers - hence the goals we have lost this season. In fact I don't think our current defenders have problematic ball skills for this level, and would rate them very highly on the SPL scale (granted which isn't a great scale)
  2. How do you change it? I guess we could bring in actual decent defenders.... but then we're naw got the money to get better defenders. How can someone from the touchline compensate for the man guarding the front of the six yard box being slow out of the block, then stopping AND at the same time regulate for supposedly our best central defender deciding the biggest brute on the other side doesn't require to be marked in the box at a corner? How is he to compensate for our left back, being slow to react to a ball going right across the box (he had time to marshal the defence, which the rest ignored) and then when the Left Back does realise he needs to do something, he trots to a position about 7 yards away from the crosser, meantime the rest of the defence and midfield are either in the box or making it to it but not a single on thinks that the only opponent in the box might be a danger so all decide that being about 4 or 5 yards away from him is acceptable.... It would be interesting to see how many people here wished for a different set of centre backs against Rangers - despite them making the same mistakes against Aberdeen...... As for this game.... 1-1, Higdon for us, and our inability to basically mark or cover a cross will cost us though
  3. And that is why Cannavaro was such a great defender despite only being 5'9''. Give me a defender who can read a game, and has positional sense than one that is known as a tough tackler any-day of the week. Sadly defending(defenders) is another part of the game we are so far behind our European counterparts it's scary (just look at the slavering over a big 6'+ centre back that was needed according to McGhee and on here).
  4. Bop's fishing trip not completely wasted I see...
  5. Don't need a guy who likes a tackle,. We need guys who can do a basic marking job, as it is currently alien to our defence
  6. Fuck that! 3-1 us and by the 85th minute the attendance will be about 4000 as all those loyal fans need to make it back to the boat/beat the traffic (delete as appropriate)
  7. Are we going to make statements prior to everygame and how we welcome x, y and z to Fir Park or whatever. Will we see a statement come Thursday or Friday for Celtic? Why were Ross County, Aberdeen, Dundee etc. not given the same treatment?
  8. Aberdeen are struggling to handle Ojamaa. Just a shame so is our own midfield too Hateley going for goal from a corner
  9. That season. They ended 4th, we were 7th
  10. We are an awful selling club. When money is flying left and right for the last 20 years we have managed to sell two players for over a million.
  11. That's a bull shit answer - and one that seems to be used, a lot in the wrong context like now. Many clubs across the world - some smaller than us work exactly the way Yoshi said. You offer players, with a year to go an extension, either at 18 months or 12 months left - if they refuse then teams get their player agents to put out feelers - or sometimes even do it themselves. I do love how FM gets a slating on here, when Premier League clubs have spent hundred of thousand (Everton even a 7 figure sum) - and all but I think 4 head researchers are actually professional scouts - on getting their hands on the full database pre-release. Anyway, hopefully our stance has improved slightly and we're not going to wait till January to offer contracts. We should offer contracts to our players, even if they have already said in private they will not accept - especially if under 24 as we'll get a small amount of money.
  12. We will get something for Murphy, Hateley, Hutchinson etc. as they are under 24 aren't they aslong as we can offer them contracts worth the same amount as they are currently on. Likely to be pennies but still not totally frees....
  13. If it was to happen at club level excellent - but neither have an international future the current cunto in charge
  14. Is that not going back to like 2000? Our record in the league is only second to Celtic I believe when it comes to Aberdeen. They have not beaten us since 2008. Finlay, why not get carried away? We're top of the league, and yet to loose, while scoring a decent amount of goals in the process? If this was any other team their fans would be enjoying it to the max. We're top on merit too (despite bigger clubs having game in hand)
  15. We'll be Aberdeen. By something to nil, as their strikeforce is laughable. Rangers, think we'll beat 2-1. Celtic - see no reason why we can't take points of them, if we play our game. Everyone else is given a good account of it. As long as we keep to playing our way, rather than trying to stop Celtic....
  16. Prize money for each round goes from 4 to 5 figures. It is not as prosperous than the league. If we're to make notable money from this we need to get to final and leech of Celtic full house
  17. Not to mention it will probably annoy the hell out of their fans if we picked a starting XI that would suggest the game is more of an annoyance
  18. Obviously you are 1x St Mirren 3x Inverness 2x Dundee = 6
  19. How? Cause most likely to coin a phrase they are signing key and top first team players for their team, while let's be honest not many of these players would be that for us. Same way we lost out on MacKay (I think) when he went from Livi to St J.
  20. A win that would have been a humping if it wasn't for old Rab. Dundee are a Division 1 team at best. 5-0 if Rab Douglas is not st his very best, if he is..... 3-0
  21. The funny thing is all those Rangers fans are going to see about 20,000 empty seats - and like the poster below you says, that will be about 35,000 seats after 60 minutes
  22. Absolute nonesense. Why the fuck ICT game on TV. Lowest crowd in history of SPL?
  23. Congrats to Zaine Francis-Angol for making his international debut for Antigua & Barbuda. He played 80 minutes. Sadly they lost 3-1 against Guatemala - who they play again tomorrow. Ojamaa also featured for 45 minutes in Estonia's 2-0 defeat at home to Romania. While Randolph was an unused sub for Ireland.
  24. In SPL no. In other like Spain, Portugal, England, The SFL etc. aye Going off topic slightly but.... As for how it works, for example in Spain, in the top league you are allowed 25 players - 3 of which must be goalkeepers. All players are then usually given a squad number between 1-25 (keepers must have 1, 13 and 25). Anyone who is 18 or below on the 1 January of that year (ala January 2012) may be added to the squad without taking up a one of the 25. If you do not fill you quota of 25 by 1 September of the season, then you can add to it with free transfers. Registration re-sets on 31 December till the end of the transfer window
