Yes that is why FIFA release the international dates 4 years in advance. We've known about the fact Northern Ireland could possibly be playing on the 29 March 2011 since the start of the 2007/08 season.... Motherwell just, wrongly didn't expect any other players to be called up, and tbh Randolph may not have if Given wasn't injured. Saying that, he's been injured for a while so why Motherwell thought it was a good idea god knows.
-
Saunders will be back and in contention, Gunning might be as it is almost a week between the first Under 21 date and the cup game. Those picked for Scotland to face Brazil on Sunday may be available but I doubt it.
-
According to the Laws of the Game, that should be a free-kick to as Dangerous players covers the possibiblity of injuring yourself too. Also, the Laws of the Game also has a sub section that states scissor and bicycle kicks are acceptable if no player is in danger of being injured. No mention of overhead kicks even being legal - never mind if they are close to calling injury. In such position as could cause halm it is an in-direct free-kick. If contact is made though that is a sepearate offence that could be seen as reckless or uncontrolled (excessive) and could end in a sending off
-
Yep. It would have been pencilled in before the game, so we would have agreed to it before kick off. Sad thing is, FIFA announce international dates 4 years in advance, while the European Championship Qualifiers fixtures have been known for what, over a year
-
Are you saying that Goodwillie's foot is not high? Like Fatcalf said though and someone further up you don't get fouls if it is scored, but week in week out attempted overhead kicks (alot with the players foot alot lower) are given as high fee/dangerous play.
-
They could, but they won't (and if they did they'd probably be marked as unavailable for club duty anyway). It's a European Qualifier.
-
If that's naw high feet then what is.... He must be at least 7ft in the air or something
-
Scotland play on the Sunday, and I'm sure if any United players play in that match they may be unavailable. Although it will be more than 48 hours since the game, FIFA/SFA could see it as still less than two days...

For foreigners there is no rule. For many clubs, especially big ones this was the big problem for the African Cup of Nations. Chelsea didn't shutdown when they had Drogba and Essien missing. It is up to the parties involve I believe to come to some sort of arrangement (or the FA/governing body to step in). If it was 2 or 3 Scots then it would automatically be postponed/would never have been penned for that date.
-
Totally agree, but having two foreigners playing for their country is not reason enough to automatically postpone a game. I'm more shocked they've pencilled it in for an international date. I'm sure if we approach the SFA they may reconsider said date, although not sure if United have a say or not.
-
Why? They are neither Scottish or within the remit of the SFA. It was silly to pencil in that date for a top cup game, but then again many an FA have faced this problem when the African Cup of Nations comes around. Both Craigan and Randolph are foreign internationlists. Gonna be tough though. Saunders will be back before the game as the U21's match is 24th. As for Randolph, when I heard that Given was out for the forseeable future I thought he couldn't be too far away from a call up. Well done the big man.
-
If he did, then yeah, if we get past United we'll be in the home changing room and home dug-out with the home kit in the semi.... If he didn't then we might still be the above
-
Not sure how it is done tbh. Sure I heard they draw lots again or toss a coin or some pish to decide home dressing room/home kit wearers if there is a clash.
-
Neither. due to be at Hampden, but would not be shocked if it is moved to Easter Road.
-
Our games will only be off if Scotland are playing or a large percentage of recognised first team players are away on international duty. The SFA (or any other FA) do not have to take into consideration foreign players (which technically Craigan is) and their international scehdule. This is why you had premiership clubs moaning about the African Nations Cup, and all sane people telling them to stop moaning! Saying that, very unusual for the SFA to pencil in using an international date, UEFA usually have something in their agreement with the European nations that no top level (highest division/cup) games can be played on European International week. Wouldn't be shocked if Goodwillie misses and the referee blows for a Free-Kick. Can't really get more dangerous than an overhead kick attempt while being challenged by another guy using his head.
-
I think we'll make it. Also think we will take 9-10pts from the last 4 games. We seem to have turned up for the bigger games since McCall took over and playing 3rd, 4th, 5th not to mention Aberdeen could be a blessing.
-
That was his position for Scotland Youth as well as Wallace was the left back.

Don't need to be a good player to be a good coach/manager. Many a coach/manager were very shite players
-
Aye it was, but for those that can't bring themselves to thank Brown for it there is always the option of replacing Brown's name with Christian Dailly's, since it was him that gave Brown the heads up. Quality keeper, and the reason why some have said he is less spectacular than Ruddy as for me the one thing that made Ruddy stand out was his ability to make up for mistakes (triple save against United, two flasp at Hamilton to name two) while Randy really hasn't had that many mistakes to make up for. For me Randy is alot more assured at coming for crosses, and you see it at times the defence have believe in him. Saying that, sold or contract extension in the summer is a must.

Topic on this matter in Other Football.

The FA don't recognise emergency loans (any loan between 30 and 93 days) as a registration with another club. The players papers technically remain with Leeds United so he has technically not signed, and played for more than Leeds United. This has been McCall's biggest gripe, and why he came out and complained, as a player based in England could technically play for 12 clubs in one season but is unable to move to another association if he played for two clubs.
-
Don't have the money tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if the Scotland set-up in 5 years time is Livingston dominated. They've got it sorted (much to the annoyance of the Junior Clubs and Amatuer Clubs around here).
-
Laws of the Game say penalty. So it's a penalty. End of, there is nothing in the Laws of the Game about "a player must try and stay on his feet if grappled with". Absolute stonewaller.
-
Not if we lose the final to a team that don't win the league. 1st: Champions League 2nd: Third Qualifying Round Europa League 3rd: 2nd Qualifying Round (seeded) Europa League Cup Winner: Third Qualifying Round Europa League* *If the team that wins the League wins the Scottish Cup the runner up of the Scottish Cup will take their place in the Europa League. *If the Winner of the Scottish Cup takes a Europa League place then they will take the Cup place, and all other positions will move up one (for example Celtic/Rangers win the Scottish Cup and end Second, Hearts will take 2nd place's place and 4th place will take 3rd places place)

I doubt Jones will be going back to Walsall. Out of Contract in the summer is he not and told to find a new club.
