Don't want to put any pressure on him, but I hope (for him) the England Under 21's are still keen on him. Today was a beast in the air.
-
Hutchinson. Absolute Beast at the back. Struggled at first against Nish, but then got hold of him. Whole performance was professional by all though
-
tbf The Old Firm agreed to the proposals of the "Rebel 10" which was led by the Pieman at Hearts. As proven the current lot of chairmen don't have the baws or the will to stick together like they did under his reign.
-
The way people went on on here you'd think we had a squad full of 30 somethings. When in fact we only have three now. We're still one of the youngest teams in the SPL (FFS Hibs had against Ayr an average age of 28!)
-
Me personally thinks it should only happen within the same nation - so moving from England to Scotland after 2 appearances should be fine - but heh rules, are rules sadly!
-
Not just us, but Leeds United, The FA and the SFA....
-
The scary thing is, the amount of players that are lost to the pro game altogether. All because our clubs have their priorities all wrong, that and the stupid U17 jump to U19's. I swear at times I watch Sunday amatuer I enjoy it more than what I've seen on SkySports or at Fir Park or Station Park (Livi United) or when I watch Bathgate or West Calder.

All those players, especially the Livingston lot went for money - we don't have that! Alot of the players come from the local Youth Clubs. Many are missed by Livingston though (Scott Arfield, Danny Wilson for example). Murieston United, if there was one youth team in West Lothian that Motherwell should look at it would be them.

I do need to ask why you thought it would be different when McCall himself said he'd be looking for someone who knew the Scottish game?
-
I only have one question tbh... Why is it, Scotland who is so passionate about football, and as we're constantly told have a high percentage of fans to population going to games not able to have a top league as big as massive countries like Luxembourg and Wales?

Dutch football is weird. Until this season there was only two "pro" divisions, with no promotion/relegation from the second of these to the lower leagues which have 7 leagues. Dutch football has what we want to call "colt teams" (as do Germany) that work the exact same way as the Spanish ones (although until recently - might still do they could enter the National Cup but could not be drawn with their "parent club"). Their Second Tier is even weirder than the SPL, SFL or the SFA could come up with by themselves. That league works like that... The team with the best form record after game 1-6, 7-12, 13-18, 19-24, 25-30, 31-36 and the two highest placed clubs not already qualified join the 16th and 17th place team from the top division in a promotion/relegation playoff system. So in theory, although very unusual a team could win their first 6 games and lose the every game for the rest of the season (or at least fail to win) and still fight it out for promotion... If any team has qualified for the playoffs already and do so again the next best placed team not already in the playoffs take the spot of course. From wikipedia, regarding their non-league system.... From the 2010/2011 season, 32 teams will compete in the Topklasse (English: Top Class), divided over a Saturday and a Sunday league, both containing 16 teams. The Topklasse champion promotes to the Eerste Divisie, if they refuse promotion or don't meet necessary criteria, the runners-up will replace them. If also the runners-up refuse promotion or don't meet necessary criteria, no team will get relegated from the Eerste Divisie
-
It has more to do with the fact that they made huge amounts from TV, other media and sponsorship than having to compete with other forms of entertainment. Hell a 2.Budesliga team probably makes more money through sponsorship alone than Motherwell make in turnover in a year, maybe two.
-
Not really sure, but as many have said Hibs are shite, playing shite which will usually mean a win for Hibs, but fuck it 3-1 Motherwell. Murphy, Sutton, Casagolda for us and Nish for them.
-
Not sure about Bolton, but sure he played a few reserve matches for Burnley too. Age means fuck all, history means fuck all, especially in England because mainly the league is so big players get lost in the system. There will be players in League 2, hell maybe even Conference that could piss all over the SPL.
-
No they're not but they're our pedigree. But then again, why wait to see what a player can do before hanging them out to dry. Scott McDonald, who most people I think would agree was a rather success at Motherwell couldn't get a contract at a team that had 13 players... or Dundee United. Tom Hateley not good enough for half a dozen English Clubs/Hamilton Accies Porter, an "injury prone" player from struggling Oldham, saying that he was told to get to fuck after the first few games The Juke a player that hadn't scored a goal in what 3 years of football or something - although like Porter he was told by many to get to fuck. Why are we judging football players on their past, when it is obvious to see what they do at one club doesn't mean they will be a star/shite for another. We're not the only club but more and more there seems to be a "Celtic Minded/Class" vibe coming out from a few fans, especially on here. In one instance we've got fans saying we shouldn't sign players like Jamie because he's a foreign youngster as we have our own foreign youngsters already and now we have some saying we shouldn't sign a veteran to help us out because of well not sure, as I bet most of us haven't seen him kick a ball. Who are we to sign? Championship quality 23-27 year olds? Why the fuck would they want to join us if they are "that good"
-
Davie Weir is over 40 and is probably, still by far the best defender to play in the SPL (ever?)
-
As a former Scout of Norwich City probably some real decent ones. The thing is, this is January, where clubs in England are paying 5-6 figure sums for emergency loans (1-2 month) never mind 6 month loan/full transfers. We can't compete with that.
-
That makes no sense. Well the last paragraph anyway. You're saying because Black may not have been McCall's choice he won't leave at the same time. Last time I checked Leitch was Assistant Manager of Motherwell before McGhee came in and he took him with him. Ward was removed from his position at the time Gannon was.
-
decorator confirmed the players thing was bullshit. And I would take his word as he's not been wrong often.
-
Let Casa explain it himself "My history is a little strange. I was born in Belgium but I'm Spanish. My father is a Spaniard and we moved back to Barcelona when I was young. "My mother is Uruguayan so I have three nationalities!"
-
Not even slightly? There are a couple of SPL clubs that have not even a slight chance of winning the cup. We're certainly not one of those SPL club... I don't get this whole Aberdeen will win something! They'll be humped by Celtic - again while last time I checked Brown doesn't have an ultimate cup record... nor do Aberdeen.
-
None of which matters in the cup tbh.... We could play Lower league teams with less money than us all the way to the final.
-
TBF Hearts are more our "rivals" than Airdrie United could ever dream of being, never mind actually being. I don't buy this crap that they're Airdrieonians because they're not. As weeyin says, they're Clydebank in Airdrie colours...
-
Why, when the club he has strong ties to and is remembered for has played us a massive once... in a poor Scottish Cup game, we won, 1-0....
-
Wouldn't be my choice but I don't see what his record, as a manager of Airdrie has to do with him becoming Assistant Manager at Motherwell. Just take a look at the likes of Maurice Malpas, Brian Kidd, Archie Knox, Carlos Queiroz and many, many, many more... All very good Assistant Managers but very questionable as actual Managers...
