  1. I'd love Hutch to shine but if this Jamie character is better than why not. he may even sign a 3 year deal? Although was there not talk he's also a right back, so it might be Hateley/Saunders we're discussing losing his spot
  2. So we shouldn't play Page either - since he was technically a Portsmouth Youth Product.... What nonsense, if he is better than our young defenders then we better sign him up. No point letting him go because a) he wasn't with us when 16-17 and b) because he is foreign (which by the way so is Hutchinson and Page)
  3. Cause Rangers will win the game at least 2-0....
  4. St Johnstone won't win their game in hand. While if we win our game in hand we'll be above ICT. Your point. Hell if we had won our games in hand under Malpas we'd have breezed into the top six... spin and what-ifs, don't you love it. We'll be no where near relegation come May!
  5. Yeah because Kenny Miller's game was all about clinical finishing. You don't need to be if you are used correctly. Sutton if he was to join Rangers would be there to hold up the ball and be foil for the likes of Naismith, Lafferty, Weiss, Jelavic and to knock back for McCulloch. John Sutton would walk into that Rangers team (if Miller leaves), and like his brother before him if needed could probably play at Centre Back, going on his performance against Rangers last season at Fir Park! Not sure if Bop is being serious, but I agree with his post.
  6. Don't really agree. If Sutton is good foil for Murphy, then he'll be excellent foil for Naismith. If Rangers can waste £1.25m on a has-been like Beattie, then Sutton looks like an absolute must buy for them - since I doubt their interest in Goodwillie is goiong to continue.
  7. Sorry if I missed it but the media reports say it is roughly £100K plus add ons. Anyone any ideas on what add ons?
  8. Actually that is about the amount I'd expect for an out of contract striker compared to an out of contract defender. Strikers are always more expensive than defenders, especially if it is likely the club that are buying are about to lose their top goal scorer for the second time in 6 months....
  9. Sutton would be excellent for Rangers. Would score an absolute barrel load. A player that has played for Dundee, St Mirren and Motherwell but still manages an average of 1 goal every 3 games in Scotland. Can't see it though, but shocked it is the first time rumours have flown around regarding the Old Firm and Sutton tbh.
  10. They have more to worry about than us. We're no where near as bad as Hibs right now, nor are we in a dog fight for SPL survivial.
  11. That's the thing. How are clubs like Stirling Albion who are far to good for the current Second Division going to ever progress now, when it is obvious to see they are in no way shape or form good enough for the current First Division when the current First Division gets all this extra money. Same for Ayr United, Cowdenbeath etc. who will find themselves left behind with this new proposal. So what, after 10-12 years of failure are we going to decide to bring the other 20 clubs into the fold too?
  12. Is that the same Inverness that... Has lost one game away from home in over a year That this season has managed score draws with both Rangers and Celtic away, meaning our clean sheet looks even better... That Motherwell have always struggled at home against .....
  13. Where are people getting that Moutinho is a Gow like player. He's more of a Sutton type player. Built well, and can put his head through a ball. Always good for a goal against Celtic too. Would be an OK signing for a team like ours.
  14. Where is this extra money coming from? Also there has been no mention of a fairer distribution within the SPL - in fact unless it has changed it is the status quo with the top two (read Old Firm) get a larger percentage than the other but instead of the other needing to share with 9 other clubs we'll be sharing with another 19. Would be shocked if Sky are upping their TV money to cover that to make it worthwhile to alienate the remaining fans...
  15. Sad thing is, probably wasn't even asked at today's meeting
  16. With the League Cup due to start the last weekend of July that would only add 2 Match Saturdays and/or 4 match days if there are more midweek games. Not to mention the Scottish League Challenge Cup - or is the Championship going to be excluded from that?
  17. And again this season. Where does the money come from for the clubs that won't be in Playoffs or the Championship
  18. Coke is just back from injury, but talking to the Wednesday fans I speak to they have missed him as he's the driving force in midfield.
  19. Sadly that is just more proof that Levein is a speccy fucker that should be nowhere near the national team but that is for another thread.... Fucking gutted tbh. The fact that at it's height you had 6 clubs (including our own and St Mirren - both on the Strategy Committee thingy mabob) against the whole ten team pish, we now have at the most, only one club against it - if any at all. How the fuck did that happen? What's worse, when it was 10/10 we were not going to make more money, just those in the lower league would (to be named the Championship [sic]) but now I can't see us making the same amount. How the fuck can they say we're going to make more money when we have to share with 21 clubs rather than 11. I would love to see the working outs that they have done. Gutted though, gutted.
  20. No way a fair to compare us and Ireland. Football is meant to be the number one sport in Scotland, same certainly can't be said for Ireland. A good test will be when Russia returns to a Winter League, and see how their attendances are effected. With some clubs like Rubin already warning of major a fall in stadium based supporters. Saying that, the way Boyle was speaking if he had his way it would be a summer league in all but name with a shut-down in December and January.
  21. Reading it, it will be... Premiership Championship Scottish Football League Division 1 (region name?) Scottish Football League Division 2 (region name?)
  22. Who hasn't given the ball away? Every week I watch C.Ronaldo continually and constantly give the ball away... Agreed with Johnstone, apart from a few games here and there, our defence (which isn't just our centre backs) has been excellent, one of the best in the SPL for the last year.
  23. Could be worse. We could have done a Livingston or Dundee.... two teams that went through what we did, but got burnt by dodgy new owners (Livingston) or didn't learn from their past (Dundee). Least we have a board that knows it is more important for there to be a Motherwell FC than for us to throw money at a pipe-dream. They might not always do it the way some on here would, or make decisions that are popular to the masses but they still have Motherwell first.
  24. Some had their knifes out the second he was appointed. Motherwell cannot pay fees, and with more and more teams paying fees for month loans (never mind half season) it is going to get alot harder to sign players. The club's re-building (like it did under Butcher, Malpas, McGhee, Gannon and Brown) will come in the summer. That is where the manager should be able to put "his stamp" on the team.
  25. Nonsense. You cannot judge McCall on the players he brings in during the January window. The summer transfer window is where you can judge McCall on his signings.
