Motherwell and Brown & Knox did have a contract. If they didn't then I doubt Motherwell would have paid anything for their services. Unlike most other football contracts though there was no specific end date. A gentleman's agreement and a signed contract in Scots Employment Law are one and the same (e.g. as soon as Brown agreed to be Manager for Motherwell for x amount a week/month there was a contract formed). It's the media being fucking idiots again, not bothering to look up their facts (like they do everytime someone mentions some Jonny Foreigner playing for one of the Home Nations).

Although sacked by Maritimo early this season, I got the impression from an interview not too long ago on some program on EuroSport he would find it hard to leave Maderia - unless he already has of course. If people thought McGhee travelling from Brighton was a problem then I think a manager travelling from the middle of the Atlantic would be a bit of a stretch.

I've not dismissed it - although for me, if it were to happen there would have to be a minimum release clause added to his contract, so if he wanted to leave he or the club he was going to would have to pay that sum (basically what every player and manager in Spain has in their contract) unless Motherwell waived the fee. It would also have to be a long term contract.

The past tells us Butcher is an awful manager without Malpas. Malpas might not be a great Manager - shite in fact - but no one can argue with his Assistant record. Be it with Motherwell, Scotland U21's or Inverness CT.

Wasn't he given like the same pay packet though as Aberdeen couldn't afford the compensation and their wages? Like most wouldn't be happy to see him replace anyone that is here at the moment or add to the wage budget

Doesn't bother me the whole Old Firm back to back - well it didn't before as it meant you had 10 games before their fixture came around again. Not took a look at this seasons as it is now randomised and not just a reverse of fixtures.

A bit of a weird one for only a month as Ayr United will be lucky to play 2 games in the next month. If it was for the rest of the season I could see the benefit (like Page last season, and Forbes the season before) but it's a rather weird one tbh.

Portugal have confirmed the reason why they refuse to referee. It was not until they landed that the referees knew about the strike. As have the Polish FA Israel FA have confirmed they were not told the real reason why they were being brought in

I don't think the day is the problem. The same lot of officials were due to take charge of the Hibs game - although the ref and 4th would be swapped - I think it is the same reason as the Polish! Sky will be furious though if the SFA do not find a referee for us, as it's their match!

I always thought when it came to Scottish Football it was always Scottish Cup > Anything else. That's why if you have replays or later round matches SPL games will be postponed. Although I can see games like Beath v Airdrie United being off due to weather. Falkirk v Morton has now been postponed.
