I dn't see many people making excuses for the overall performance but they are not blinded by some sort of hatred of the guy on what actually happened at the goals. Or are you honestly telling me that only Fraser would have slipped, only Fraser was to blame for the second (nothing to do with the decision making of Reynolds (twice)) or even the best of keepers never fuck up or have shots go under them? Lets just looking at the second again. On a dodgy pitch Reynolds, on the left side decides to pass back to a right footed keeper - an awful pass back which bobbled all the way to Fraser. Fraser, seeing this tries to play it back to Reynolds, which he does successfully. Unfortunately for Fraser, Reynolds decides he can only use his left foot (the outside of it too ) now (despite having a shot with his right - which he should have buried - not long before) when the right foot would have been the correct option, and would have been easier to deal with. This leads to a corner - which was Reynolds fault it was conceded by the way. The corner find a free man who volleys it from about 10-12 yards out, Fraser doing well to even get a hand to it.

Not defending him for his performance overall, he was woeful, no doubt about it, but he was not the reason we lost. Nor was he the reason we lost against Celtic (against Celtic the strikers were to blame more than anything). Just the fact when Lady Luck decided to kick him in the baws, she did it a few times. Performance was shocking - his part in the goals were questioable but he was not soley to blame for any of the goals.

Many harsh comments on Fraser to actually what happened. 1st Goal. Harsh on Fraser. Did the right thing by taking a touch (especially on a pitch like ours), just a shame he lost his footing - could have happened to any keeper. Hell one of the best conceded a lot worse one a few weeks ago against Getafe. 2nd goal. Where to start? Poor pass back by Reynolds, not the greatest return but does Reynolds know he has a right foot? Oh yeah, he does, he used it to have a shot at goal not long before it. So why the fuck did he choose to try and control with the outside of his left foot? As for the corner - I guess it's Fraser's fault Daly was given 15 yards and enough time to do about 100 keep-uppies before he had to have a shot on goal 3rd goal. There is no camera view from what Fraser seen but it is probably the one he'll be angry about the most.

No you can't but I bet if you compare United from 1959 to 2010 they would have spent more time, won more senior domestic trophies (Top League, League Cup, Scottish Cup & FA Cup) than Queen's Park, who's last was in 1893. Not to mention Dundee United have been in the SPL since it's formation, although been average at best (never ending in the top 4) you can say for certain they're a bigger club than Queen's Park - and are not out of place in the SPL.
-
I know this being Dundee United's best season since well, the SPL was formed (never once ended third) but the rankings are a bit fucked up having them as a second tier club below Greenock Morton and Queen's Park (who have not won anything of note since the 1800's) is a little wrong. The only reason we can say we're punching above our weight and have for years is because our turnover, fan base, possible fan base etc. is quite shit compared to most other clubs in the SPL and many of those below us (and in lower leagues). As I see it there is... Old Firm Aberdeen Hearts Hibs Dundee United Kilmarnock Dundee all bigger than us under the recognised catagories of how big is a football club. Then you have Falkirk, Dunfermline, Partick Thistle etc. who are our level by the same criteria.

This thread Nah he's right, Accies will be going for top three finish in a few years time. Shame for him it's naw gonna be the top three of this league. Maybe the First Division if they're lucky.
-
Plan A is still on - Dundee United to beat Raith, and then beat County.
-
No it doesn't. 5th is still good enough if United don't pip Celtic to the Champions League spot AND wins the Cup.
-
Just wish for a United and Celtic win and we'll be OK.
-
The OP says there are plenty of candidates... then surely it would be best to wait till the end of the season, as lets be honest we don't know what will happen from now till the end. Also, I agree with Cambo with his choice of Player of the Year tbh...
-
Bayern or Bayer? Cannie see Munich being interested in him to be honest, although no doubt Bayer will be raped in the summer, so they are more than likely going to be scouring Northern Europe for cheaper alternatives.
-
Especially when they change the facts. Brought back due to injury - eh no he wasn't. He was brought back because Butcher thought if Fraser helped ICT stay in the SPL, he would change his mind and re-sign with ICT. Also his mare at Ibrox, the game that was six going on 15 - mainly so low because of Fraser. Fraser was dropped due to his commitment to Motherwell, not because of Ibrox. Fraser is a good SPL keeper. Ruddy will be playing lower end Championship/upper end League 1 next season. Unless Fraser has done something wrong I see no reason why he should lose his place which he now technically owns due to injury.

Threads like this make me want a Rumour Subforum

Nah sure he said end of/beginning of the month!
-
I will not be shocked if we have Rangers at home, due to us fucking up the SPL's perfect plan of the Top Six will stay the same year in year out

Post 2, 5 and 14 - please be warned it is the Hearts forum but the guy also knows his stuff.

Nope that only happens if the winner of the cup qualifies for the Champions League. If the team that wins the Scottish Cup qualifies for the Europa League via the league as well, they will take the cup place (as it has a higher standing according to UEFA - in other words a later entry date) the next team in the league takes their league placement. If they end third, it would be 4th place which would leave 4th places position open to 5th. If they end 4th, it sill leaves it open to 5th place. Saldy so do I Gaag but the main thing is the cup Semi Finals are before the first round of Post-Split Fixtures which means we'll know exactly where we need to end to reach Europe.
-
As long as United win the cup we'll be in Europe no matter if Celtic get somehow papped oot. Good to know we'll know who is in the final before the split fixtures which means we'll know exactly what the minimum requirement is for being in Europe
-
What you think we're not gonna win another game this season? Or do you think 5th won't be good enough. Can't see United losing to Raith and I certainly not see Ross County beating Celtic.
-
Well least the decision has been made for me. Either watch Mallorca get humped by Messi or watch Motherwell be humped on BBC Alba... think I'll go for the Mallorca game... Lets just take our revenge on Falkirk - and maybe hope for a United win/draw against Hibs during the week.
-
Game over - Motherwell fail to beat 10 men once again
-
FFS! Dundee United 1-0 Motherwell - Webster/Goodwillie
-
Hibs have took the lead against Falkirk. Dundee United seem to be getting more and more into the game.
-
Fuck! Sutton offside
-
You're kidding right? So Hampden is going to have a couple thousand kids in it at the next Scotland game? In SPL news, Falkirk are beating Hibs EDIT: Make that 1-1
