  1. Sorry, but that is absolute nonsense. Unfortunately your understanding of the Ryanair scenario emphasises it. I could go into it in detail but I outlined the generalities in the previous post. However, this is going off on a tangent and therefore away from the thread topic.
  2. Ryanair schedulers sit watching the UEFA draws and bump up prices of any direct and nearby airport flights as the pairings come out the hat. If the price went up £150 it would have been because of two things, availability on that specific flight diminished or the dates of flights moving from one "season" into another pricier one. I can see a carrier such as BA, Qantas or American bumping up their prices in August next year significantly due to the interest in the Olympics on any London bound flights, however I can't see them hovering their mouses over a button when Charlie Mulgrew's free kick hit the back of the net. What we talking at most, 150-300 people flying into Scotland from various locations worldwide (ignore Ireland), not really in the thought process of any airline. Using your example, how many Motherwell and Celtic fans out of a total of 53,000 available seat will book a flight back from Singapore (into London remember not direct to Glasgow unless via Dubai or some other hub) because of this final? How many will travel on the exact same dates, some may come back for a fleeting visit, some may want to combine it with a longer stay at home. 5-10 max? I'd say you'd be lucky, the Scottish Cup Final won't even be on their radar.
  3. No chance of a back row (S) seat unless its near the Cooper, every one in pretty much B, M, F, C, D and E has been held since the East was made all seater by more or less the same people. Being 6'4" the layout and spacing of the Cooper will give you the most comfortable experience. I'm 6'1" and I find it tight in the East. Either the Cooper or the directors box
  4. You are suggesting in that argument that the Ballot will be oversubscribed, hence the disappointment. I expect the 3,000 season ticket holders to take between 7k-9k tickets out of the full entitlement which is on paper 12,000. What I'm saying to you is when the club get their excel spreadsheet of those registered tickets issued won't be pot luck, before offering any tickets to those on the list I imagine it will be checked for duplicates, people asking for stupid amounts and finally comparing with the existing club database. Everyone who deserves one will get a ticket.
  5. Good point, a British one will give your palm a suntan.
  6. Same as me in section C of the East, pillar had me bobbing about like a mongoose on acid. Be aware in the winter when the sun is lower in the sky, a number of games will be affected by setting sun's glare, so baseball cap or sunglasses required unless you sit further back and the roof helps with that particular problem or don't mind saluting the POD stand for 30 minutes.
  7. Any marketing professional will tell you that you need a strategy with a definite and targeted message. Diluting the Rangers game with too much Scottish Cup/ST info could cause confusion and cross-over problems. Also be aware of the manpower resource available at FP. If Facebook or the official website are red hot with frequent announcements then the message gets lost as people switch off.
  8. The club is focusing on an OF game this weekend, one of 4 per year that brings in a fair bit of repeat revenue and has particular challenges of its own. Safe to say all the ST details and Cup Final stuff will be out there from Sunday/Monday onwards.
  9. With respect to Gaag's suggestion, bringing this into a thread. Lot of negativity, a lot of people suggesting that ballot entries won't be scrutinised any more than than a public sale, I'd be surprised if that was the outcome. Lots of we're hard done by or I'm up the swanny, OK well put your money where your mouth is and suggest a better alternative.
  10. Valid in this thread as he was muted as a possible signing before the departure of Jack and Victor, however it looks like he didn't make enough of an impression. Dodged another bullet there it would appear. From BBC: "David McNamee, goalkeeper Mark Howard and the versatile Derek Young will not be offered new contracts by Aberdeen."
  11. I flew back from Los Angeles in 2005 for 5 days only, as you can imagine it was not a happy episode in terms of finance and on field performance. 2011 - I'm now 1,000 yards away.
  12. So let us get this straight MJC being positive = copious amounts of alcohol + a full moon + us in a cup final. Infrequent enough to keep his pessimism as an aid to future success.
  13. Fuck me ..... An upbeat thread title and MJC in the "Started By" column.
  14. Would Epsom to Epping qualify?
  15. I suppose its got to do with the fact that all football clubs do their financial planning in the summer for the forthcoming season, commitment by season ticket holders to pay up front for all games despite if the on pitch performances diminish or we end up in mid table twilight zone for the last half dozen games. The clubs reward those individuals with lower average admission prices and access to harder to come by tickets. If you are advocating getting rid of bulk discounts or benefits for repeat custom then you better get on the blower to Costco and Zonecard, well 99% of all UK business' and tell them too. From what you've said you attend home games infrequently at £18-20 but can't afford £24 per month spread over the course of a year? Sure you aren't looking for excuses and looking to pick holes? If you were clever about it, don't buy your kitkat and can of irn bru once a week and I'm sure you wouldn't fall into the bread-line. The club will move to a faster and more robust system if they implement a swipecard entry system such as at a few grounds here and pioneered in Italy where your personal club ID is also a credit card (that earns the club 1-2% of your purchases) and the magnetic strip is used to access and activate the turnstyle. The high initial cost is the only factor why its not universal. However back to the Cup Final chat, I'd suggest that every Well fan will get a brief. Not every season ticket holder will take 4. To quote a post above, calm yer jets.
  16. Topics for discussion were "things that really annoy you about the internet" due to the fallout of the Lennon saga and kids being witch-hunted. Syd mentioned that your avatar is a particular annoyance for him, I can't recall if it was due to titillation or it slowed up his scrolling.
  17. Just been on the Official Celtic site, my Norton was going mental with all the virus' and flash banners reminding everyone they are the world's most downtrodden group. Anyway there is a cheeky wee calculator app that you can employ, its called the "Sevillulator", here is what I plugged in to see what it came out with, I put in the official Hampden capacity the Sevillulator does the rest automatically and gives you a result .... very clever: You Entered: 52,103 SFA Allocation: (-10,000*) = 42,103 Divide by 2: 21,052 - we get the extra 1 using the "oor lawyer is bigger than your lawyer" chant until they give in Add 10% "Moan like Fuck" Factor: (2,105) = 23,157 New Anti-Irish Surcharge: (1,690) = 24,847 Downtrodden by Establishment Tax: (500) = 25,347 Conspiracy Theory Overhead: (500) = 25,847 Neil Lennon's bodyguard shield: (256) = 26,103 Other support: 16,000 (they should feel very fortunate) NB * Fear not, 99% of the 10,000 SFA allocation will almost all go to fellow Bhoys through all the 40 diddy teams and sponsors. You then hit a button "BhoysOnTourMultiplyer" and the 26,103 miraculously adds a zero to make 261,030 who can claim they were definitely there.
  18. Here Al, see Tam Cowan gave your avatar a bit of a hard time on Saturday's show?
  19. Can't help feel that this last bit was added by his agent to add a few £££'s. He's playing in his home country at a standard above what he could do abroad. I doubt he'd want to leave and team on the crest of a wave combine that with the blonde he was with in the Corinthian on Saturday night. When he first came to Motherwell he was very magnanimous and I was impressed with his candour and honest appraisal of his ability and level. It could be argued that last sentence goes against those sentiments. However lets not ignore the average hack's ability and the sinister presence of an agent. It was only a few weeks ago a reporter from the same newspaper filed a story full of pish about the number attending the semi final.
  20. Because it was 10 years ago and phones weren't as fancy as they are now, secondly I was in a staying in a hotel with no laptop and no communal computer. We did find out from the concierge about the stands but when we phoned up the second time they changed the questions (they must have had quite few to pick from) so we gave up.
  21. As has been discussed, there is no ideal scenario/scheme. The club aren't going to keep everyone happy all the time. Every idea will have its problems and loopholes. With 3,000 season ticket holders, if everyone takes their full allocation then we are looking at 12,000 away in week 1 (that if everyone takes their allocation). Everyone who pays to get in or has lapsed knows someone who could do them a turn. There are 2 games coming up where searching out the old acquaintance in the Cooper, POD or East may prove fruitful.
  22. That idea certainly has merit, as does giving every non ST holder turning up through a home turnstyle for the Rangers and Killie games a voucher.
  23. I tried to go to a Fulham game when I was in London 10 years ago. When I called the phone number provided I was asked 3 qualifying questions such as who was the club captain, home stand names, etc. Obviously I didn't know this and couldn't convince the girl even with my accent that I was just in town for the weekend. Maybe worth trying something like that? Anyone got any good questions to pose? NB At the time it was Chris Coleman, googled it when I got home.
  24. It maybe safe to suggest that those registering for the ballot will be cross-referenced against the ticketing database? What is safe to say there will be a few Motherwell fans for whatever reason will have issues over tickets just because of the numbers involved. Hopefully this will be a minimal amount and it the issues are resolved in plenty of time. There is certainly a need to reward and give priority to those who commit a lot of money at the start of the season. As Steelboy says, out of the tickets remaining from the season ticket pre-sale there is a need to ensure they go to the right people. It's worth remembering if you can make it to 75% of home games a season, you break even buying a season ticket. Maybe worth considering for those keen to secure their ticket.
  25. Just to clear a few things up, the reason I posted that was because I was in Fir Park on the Monday after the Dundee Utd cup game at Tannadice where we drew 2-2. When walking through the main stand, the aroma of fabric softener filling my nostrils, the person I was with asked A McD about the washing, his reply was "they're getting their third wash, followed by a few choice blue words and ending with "bloody white strips". Sorry if my "inside knowledge" doesn't fit with the view of those who claim to know otherwise. I took the events above to draw my conclusion before posting.
