We've split the gruesome twosome twice in that period, not bad for a wee team from a 35,000 town opposed to the capital city bankrolled as discussed above by 'Diet Abramovich'. If you lot over performed to the same degree in that period you'd have 2 or 3 SPL titles. Is it only our forum you come onto to spread your wisdom or do the fans of Killie, St Mirren and Dundee Utd get the same pleasure? According to the BBC they have quite a few out, however they do have a bigger squad. If Humphrey continues in the same vein We could cause them many problems.

Names like Duberry and Morris have a degree of pedigree and from what I've seen so far of May he's worthy of tight marking. However we've got Jeffers, Humphrey and Murphy who they'll be very concerned with too. However what's key for me is Lasley and Jenno complementing each other and driving things from midfield.

Fal_Dosser made a good point on another thread, Jones with 15 years experience and McHugh with a number of run outs this season could have been introduced to eat up time. With fresh pairs of legs to help close down Utd players. Sorry Stuart, for the first time I don't agree with or see your logic on this.

I rather see us tying up who we've already got and are out of contract as I think they offer more and are much better.

A wise man would have informed his new employer that he felt he was due money which he would lose out on by switching jobs early. If the new employer really wanted him then that extra money would be a condition of moving. Why are a fair number of Well fans suggesting that Motherwell didn't have this done secured with belt and braces?

Nail on the head, we've been spoiled in our recent past.

Wikipedia or unhealthy obession?

I feel confident in saying I think the top six is in the bag (McCall said 42 would clinch it a few weeks back), however it wouldn't be the first time Celtic have bottled it in Inverness (Jan 2009). Next issue is overtaking both Killie and Dundee Utd. 4th place carries an extra £160k in prize money. It feels nice typing this considering our 8th place and impending doom permiated by some a few weeks ago. It would be good to achieve as we missed our chance last season to a Hibs side that was already starting to self destruct.

I'd be surprised if what happened with Reynolds offer from Rangers and subsequent transfer to Sheffield wasn't at least considered in the decision process.

I think it's safe to say many who posted on here at the start of this thread felt that based on last week and ibrox on Saturday the best we could hope for was a draw. I bought into it if I'm honest, envisaging what we witnessed over the last half hour would extend over the whole game considering the players we had missing (2 in particular who were instrumental last week in Jenno and Jeffers). While the ball being in the net was fortunate for both our goals, the drive and skill involved in the build up certainly warranted reward for the endeavour of Murphy and Humphrey. Around me a number of fans were generally supportive of Forbes, partly down to his age and mindful her has played very well recently (Celtic and Dons away), it appeared to me many are mindful that confidence needs to be nurtured. I don't fully understand why as a young pro he is running on empty from 50 minutes on. Goodwillie showed yet again why he's a player you love only if he's in your teams shirt. Verbal with some kids but the most surprising for me was his finish at the end, ball slipped through, 10 yards out, unmarked and with time, 9 times out of 10 he would have slotted it away. A lesser keeper would have been castigating his defence while picking the ball out of the net. Randolph stepped up tonight with some class saves, every Well fan owes Christian Dailly a pint if we ever see him. Couldn't understand the reluctance of McCall to make subs to eat up time and/or give a few who were blowing a respite. Have we exhausted every avenue with respect to Hutchison having a Scottish grandparent? Last 30 was torture.

We might want to invest 20p of it calling the police as somebody has stolen at least £1m.

Start of the 8x table?
-
I reckon Matty who commented at the bottom writes very much like a certain Hammerfist.
-
Randolph Saunders Hutch Ross Page Hateley Humphrey Forbes Lasley Sutton Murphy The only potential changes I can see is Murphy dropping back to midfield with Jeffers on for Humphrey due to the reported knock. Just to confirm, Hammell and Gunning still doubtful? Jenno is on game 2 out of 3 of his ban

Picking a team when I live in the same town seems like a square peg into a square hole. However you are now a associate dosser. Have you got 5,000 mates with a spare £300 every July?
-
Just out of interest, coming from Motherwell, what other teams were in the picture?

From their official website and linked to in post #108 Aberdeen and Motherwell 16.12.2010 Aberdeen Football Club can confirm that, following constructive discussions between Duncan Fraser and Derek Weir, Motherwell FC Vice Chairman, Motherwell FC have withdrawn their complaint to the SPL in relation to the appointment of Craig Brown and Archie Knox. Commenting on the resolution Duncan Fraser said "As I stated at the start of the week Aberdeen and Motherwell have always enjoyed an excellent relationship. At no point was the integrity of Craig or Archie questioned by either Club and we believe that we acted accordingly throughout. Both Aberdeen and Motherwell have played significant roles working with others on the challenges facing Scottish football and want to draw a line under the events of the last few days. I am grateful to the Derek Weir and the Motherwell FC Board for working with us to resolve any issues and we as a Club will make no further comment on this matter".

I'll draw your attention to the Aberdeen statement Moe, read it and convey back on here what you think is being inferred.
-
With respect to Moe's comment, the "gentlemanly" thing to do in that instance would be to just smile and be content with yourself not to take the bait. I for one, think that nobody likes being told the hard truth ...... The way Boyle went about things could have worked out better for the club, in terms of timing and media exposure, however I'll defend his right to tell anyone inside his business his opinion. OK he is excitable (Cardiff City on Sky Sports News for example). I'd prefer if it wasn't caught on camera just because of the subsequent fallout. Let's put what he has done recently in context though, the guy is walking away gifting the club his shares without looking for any recompense for the £10m he has injected over his tenure, he has earned the right and even if he hadn't, he is still the chairman and owner. Secondly I'd draw attention to the statement the Dons put out in December: Aberdeen Statement For those who know media-speak, read between the lines, as underboyleheating's signature confirms, "The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn’t being said". For me Brown has betrayed the trust of a few Motherwell employees for personal gain, made an arse of himself in the media with his u-turn in December, cited "embarrassing" the club and how Youngie called to apologise for the events further shows how a) low he can stoop to try to maintain his perception among the wider public and b) how he tries to circumvent the "no comment" request imposed by Strathclyde's finest. If he was called a "mercenary" as reported then that would be both correct and tame.

You also omitted to say you started the "McCall out" thread, amazing what a few weeks and a few good performances do for your credibility and standing with the fans even from the leader of the lynch mob. Unfortunately for us, consistency is something a much higher wage/transfer budget than we have affords. So far McCall has generally performed and brought in results that cement our on paper status as the 7th/8th biggest team in the country in terms of fanbase and turnover. 3 years of European qualification (one of those years a freak rather than due to footballing prowess) and league placings of late have spoiled us, to the extent it's now where we believe we should be every year. That level of expectation would be hard for Mourinho to overcome let alone Stuart McCall.
-
I think Maurice Ross staying past the summer will depend on who we get to replace Jennings and if their wage demands means someone else has to be let go. I think the club will persevere with Hateley as he still has 2 years to run and is young. It also surprises me that many forget he mainly won his young player of the year awarded last season for his performances sitting in front of the back four as a defensive midfielder. Craig's formation and tactics didn't suit his game as much as Gannon's so when he was drafted into right back he ultimately improved.

From memory, when Hampden was upgraded the total of the 3 phases (Rangers end, then Celtic, then main stand) equalled £70m the total cost of the Millenium stadium in Cardiff was £120m, and they don't have to spend a fortune on their pitch because despite all the other issues with growing grass in a stadium, they don't have a 3rd division team playing 40 games a season on it in front of 350. Stupid, short sighted solution 15 years ago, but c'est la vie, we've got to live with it.

Bonus' are normally paid at the stage you exit the competition as I'm sure the pot would grow dependent when the club is knocked out or ultimately wins. Therefore we were knocked out in late January and by that stage they had left 6 weeks earlier. Can't really understand why they are going after this relatively insignificant (for them) amount of cash. If its out of principal then they are both equally guilty of breaking promises, however the difference is Motherwell didn't give press conferences citing they promise to pay bonus' and pulled the rug away 24 hours later. The thing that got me was Craig quoting Youngie, if indeed he did call him, it's wholly inappropriate to reference it as it puts Youngie in a uncomfortable position with the club and also Brown continues to comment on the events despite instructions not to. He is attempting get public vindication by stealth. Youngie has potentially given him an outlet to bring it up again. It's important the club aren't out manoeuvred by this old tager, he's already losing it, look at Casagolda and Gow. It was evident last night on Sportscene when Billy Brown suggested we had short memories of what Craig and Archie achieved ..... I'm grateful of what they achieved Billy, I take exception in the way they handled their exit and will continue to voice my opinion on that. But don't let that get in the way of the old, cuddly, walking football anecdote encyclopaedia, chivalrous persona he happily and continually paints. If Youngie is guilty of anything it was to be naive and think Craig would keep their discussion off the record regardless of the content and what was discussed.
