  1. Just seen it there, great header from Jeffers, just the glance that did it. Strong, determined play from Murphy for the winner. However I've never heard anyone pronounce "capitalised" the way Brown did in his interview, Horlicks is kicking in obviously.
  2. Boo hoo Craigie. Zander Diamond being doubtful surely is a blessing. Dundee Utd have 4 games in hand and 2 points behind, they'll definitely overtake. The fact St Johnstone were above us was a travesty.
  3. Yassssssssssssssss - Get it up you, you old coffin dodger
  4. Is it still a booking to suggest that the referee books an opposition player?
  5. Casagolda, you watching this? This is how you make an impact when you are surrounded by hype.
  6. Regardless of how the strikers are performing, defensive would be 4-5-1 ...... DIBBLE DUE
  7. 3 recognised strikers is considered defensive? Or is it because Humphrey is on the bench?
  8. Christ almighty ..... One of the most memorable things from my childhood was watching the littlest hobo. I just wanted him to move in with a nice family but he always wanted to go on and on to find someone else to help. As I got older I understood that would have made him Lassie and consequently gay and consequently wouldn't have made good telly. Some people on here have to take the title of this thread and actually apply it to their views on MFC. Over a year later we are still talking about Jim Gannon and what he could have done. Whither he was the second coming or a snake oil salesman, that debate will rage on and on, as to why, God alone knows. With respect to Craig and Archie, aye OK, it turns out they were full of b/s and handled the meetings with Milne like a pair of amateurs and their subsequent comments in the press made them look like even bigger dicks. But again they are away, yesterday's news. We could have went after a manager with more pedigree or a "bigger" name, however Stuart McCall was the only one willing to commit himself to Motherwell. He did so when others were tyre kicking or umming and ahhing. I for one want a committed manager with passion and he has those qualities in abundance. He has had to build confidence after many of the players felt the rug was pulled from beneath their feet in early December. Some managers have the gift to do so immediately, many do not. I hope McCall can do this over time as he earns the players respect, because I am in no doubt if a fair number of the support were questioning his appointment, then its a given that many squad members had the same reservations.
  9. Not to mention we'd have to pay a healthy compensation amount as he's with us until the summer of 2013. Look so far, results haven't gone our way, partly due to the confidence that ebbed when Jack and Victor left, nobody can try and tell us that wouldn't have a detrimental effect on the players. Part of the reason for the results? for me its been a bit of bad luck combined with getting confidence back. In the past 18 months we've robbed a fair few teams of the points, karma suggests what goes around comes around. It was only a few weeks ago when we had a game (Dundee) where everything we tried came off, Rangers had that yesterday. If we look at his signings to date, even at 34 Jones looks a good addition, I didn't see Gunning yesterday but at Stranraer he looked strong and powerful and looking to come forward, again another player who from what I've seen I'm happy. As for Jeffers time will tell, McCall has taken a punt on him partly through necessity and availability. 14 years since a win at Ibrox suggests is was a tall order to come back to Lanarkshire with 3 points, however the manner of the defeat and what a lot of people will have to put up with this week at work from both sets of OF fans leaves the bitter taste. As someone already pointed out, if Stranraer went there and lost 6-0, I'm sure they'd be gutted to a man, despite their lowly 3rd division status. We however are a premier league team so this sort of loss shouldn't happen. I hope the result instills a steely resolve in our players, yesterday was the the lowest this season goes, from now on its forwards. Personally I'd extend the training this week as the next three games are pivotal and nobody can argue there isn't room for improvement.
  10. Was in the process of typing: "Getting back into it, not the cricket score predicted on Clyde 1. Hugh Keevens after Naysmith scored "Timberrrrrr", specky little nasal OF sucking tit." All kinda went to pot when Jelavic scored. Bollocks.
  11. I thought Jones was going to burst the net there.
  12. Take it the last one also includes a "mention" in the Daily Record? If so, surely some bragging rites if you win. Don't know how my better half would react to being ditched for Steve Kirk or Willie Pettigrew.
  13. If you can suggest a way you can ask and get 7,000 to all sit and continue to do so then I'm sure the club would implement it. I think the only way would be to hold the game up, which would never happen. I'd rather the home support seen this and acted ourselves to counter it, however a degree of complacency and comfort has permeated through our fans (section E apart).
  14. Unfortunately we live in a world where the leaders and top earners are either Lawyers, Accountants or Bankers. We live in a blame, risk and litigation culture imported from the US. If an alien was to look down at us from his little spaceship, I bet he couldn't understand why they were in the acendency opposed to Teachers, Nurses or Emergency Services. While Hillsborough was horrible, the reaction of politicians fueled by media hype is why we've got what we have now. It still happens, anyone remember the Pandemic Swine Flu that was going to be nothing compared to the black death? Millions spent by politicians because of the media frenzy, hazard suits, masks, viles of antidote now sitting in warehouses with the use by dates fast approaching while nurses being laid off to make up for the shortfall in the budgets.
  15. Motherwell winning the SPL would be great for the area, winning the Champions League would be truly amazing/spectacular and the exposure and media attention (and cash) we'd get would be hard to match. We'd be able to buy a new world class stadium from UEFA's purse alone, not to mention all the glory hunter fans we'd attract. But I just feel, winning the World Cup and how that would permeate down through every person in our society and the feel good factor that goes with it would be amazing for the country as a whole. I'd opt for that.
  16. I'd agree, however I think too many have got used to seating now and opt for and prefer it. I don't think you can beat standing. I'd be interested to know if we'd ever be able to advocate something like they have in bus shelters, the 3ft off the ground sloped bench that gives just enough purchase to the buttocks. Ryanair had suggested something similar on their flights, however that was just for free publicity/shock factor. It would increase the capacity too. However a whole minefield of testing, red tape and UEFA rules no doubt.
  17. Don't dispute that, however if you try to align yourself with how a South Lanarkshire councilor would think, there is little chance they would actively support Motherwell either in funding or other forms of support without Accies crying foul. We all know we eclipse them in support, continuity and brand in the whole of Lanarkshire, problem is there would be a fair number of South Lanarkshire councilors will admit that when some are likely to have a higher number of Accies fans in their constituencies. As for the Wall, if the old firm do have a slash, I'd advocate a sensor based system to spray anyone up to nonsense. Fill it full of blessed holy water when the Currants are in town and soapy water when the Unwashed visit.
  18. You can see why he's a moderator, reasoned response, opposed to some of the mental stuff that went before it. For me, in the short term, with SFA/UEFA permission of course, I'd like to see: A return to standing in the east with a partition to allow banter between fans. my best memories stem from away matches at places such as Falkirk and atmosphere standing and the one liners. Fans encouraged to police themselves. We all know that flares are not liked by the authorities, so why persevere? If it's a "the man says no, so I'm going to do it" rebellious thing any real and welcome concessions we get could be removed by the nanny state in which we live putting pressure on the club. However I fear our society now is completely focused on short termism. Encourage the local authority to promote MFC as the only premier team in the county. We offer a lot in terms of exposure and PR. I'd look to try and get C&A adopted more locally on railings, banners outside the civic, brandon parade in the same way it is on the continent. The is no mistaking that Odense is blue and white. I suppose the problem is NLC covers 6 major towns, opposed to one. Also, Increase local advertising. Increased summer football - not really much to add on that, except we are getting an extra 2 weeks from next season, its a start at least. In a dream world: Move to Ravenscraig, a really innovative stadium such as "The Wall" that has been covered before on here. The smaller stands can be used for all standing or seating, steepish for atmosphere same as Tynecastle, corners filled in, boxes above, able to be used during the week for other purposes. Design would lead to it being considered for concerts and outdoor events. Main stand located to the north for obvious reasons. Ditch the green, again for obvious reasons. The Wall Stadium offers so much more than lego St Mirren Park type grounds. Architectural icon and possibly a visitor attraction same way as Falkirk Wheel. Height of the stand would offer good views over the Clyde Valley and advertising opportunity due to its exposure ability to see it from quite a distance. Due to the size of the main stand plenty of space a shop, and 2 restaurants at ground level and main entrance. Above, for functions/meetings and exhibitions, Lanarkshire is in need of a decent sized venue. Plenty of circulation space outside the main stand, (ideally something like Nancy) all pedestrian so people can congregate similar to some English grounds. Ideally the new station leads out to this space too. Stadium incorporated with as many businesses as possible to ensure its not a ghost town outside matchdays. Either shops/services built into the stands or something similar to the computer suites we currently have in the Cooper. Something like that combined with facilities at Ravenscraig would attract a fair few players too.
  19. Can't understand the chat on here sometimes, we've already got 2 definite defensive starters out through injury and people are glad that Club Captain Crags is injured so we can see if others can step up. Going by that logic, I'd rather lose him due to injury to test these theories when we had adequate cover and not threadbare as we are at present. Aye, OK he has the odd bombscare and could give the ball to Hammell to pass it up the park, however lets not ignore the footballing brain, even if the legs can't always keep up with it. I fear a centre-half pairing of Hutchison and Page could be severely exposed by canny tactics and wily/clever striker(s). With respect to he Cypriot, was he ever brought over here as a first team prospect? I got the impression it was for U-19's to toughen him up and if he broke through then it would be a bonus.
