If you pay peanuts then you get monkeys. 2 management interviewee's gave us the bum steer, prompted by two old codgers upping sticks and travelling an extra 150 miles up the road despite saying MFC was their last job in football. Missing out on a player to the English conference. All sad, sad reading. Granted there maybe other factor at play such as family, geographical ties, major difference in money, etc. but could we be any less attractive?

Looked at the links from Sunday's game, Celtic/Acccies game, probably stealing the Celtic TV stream. Looks like it'll have to be Flow's twitterings

With respect to your condescending tone, I'd reiterate, away and boil yer heed. For one who throws insults around on here with gay abandon to get all precious suggests you feel you are above reaping what you sow. You contacted me previously by private message with a petted lip, I suggested if you were offended to contact a moderator. Since then you've had wee jibes and references to it whenever I've posted. I agree folk are bored with this pish we are both guilty of permeating. Go to your happy place and count to ten.

I'm a gentleman and I have a gentleman's agreement with the club, this will be my last role in football before retiring .... Lobey's quote should be translated into Latin and used as a MFC club motto.
-
With respect to Johnson's "tosh" shout, maybe so however if Blackman and Gow happened to still be in the squad maybe he would have equally said "hey .... that guy there has scored 8, he's tall and fast, he'll be leading the line." He fielded arguably the 11 best players at the club and fortunately there were no positioning conflicts. Looking back over his post match comments he even said "the team picked itself". His skill and acumen so far would appear to me to be more to do with man management, spirit and motivation. As it turned out almost everyone is happy that Sutton and Murphy were put together up front and no doubt will feature quite a bit as a partnership in the weeks ahead. If I'm a school teacher then you are the wean. I'd suggest you go and boil your head but you'd probably think I was being sincere and take offence again citing self mutilation this time.

That wasn't referencing you: "a few have been slating" was the caveat there. Just because I quoted you beforehand doesn't mean the entire post is dedicated to you.

Is that the face he pulled after the split last season to get Rangers at home on Boxing Day on TV at 3pm?
-
Would be interested to know the calibre of the guys he's been after. Possibly a few he'd courted for Norwich in his scouting role for them. As for the Rangers semi, as far as I know you'd need them not to be cup tied possibly limit any Scottish signings) and probably at least 2-3 business days before so the SFA can process their registration.

You referring to the exchange we had recently and feel the need to mention it because I started this thread? No wounds opened, you make a valid point in your post. Most of us if we are honest would have had Blackman as one of the first definites on the teamsheet. Even if his form has dipped, I think most of use would have persevered given his earlier form and crucial goals. It would have been a brave member who came on here and suggested dropping him (Youngie did against Celtic incidentally), in all honesty, if he was still with us and it was Sunday at noon would you have opted for him in your starting 11? I suggest most would have. The catalyst for this thread was that the planets aligned for McCall in his first game by which I mean the strongest 11 players in the team all has no factors affecting them being played in their most effective positions: 1) No Gow, no Blackman - Sutton and Murphy back up front (same as Europa early stages) and combine with deadly effect (which makes it sweeter), playing to their strengths. 2) Saunders injured so Hateley fills in at RB, where I'd say 95% of the support feel where he has played his best football in the past 12 months rather than as defensive midfielder under Gannon (however remind yourself that's where he won countless MotM awards). 3) Scope for a natural midfielder to step into the last remaining free space. 4) I doubt he will tinker much with it going forward. Finally I'd add, a few have been slating Fitzpatrick, OK I can see where you are coming from but lets remember his role is the unglamorous side of things in the midfield .... tackling, tracking back and covering is not going to get the same recognition and plaudits as mazey runs down the wing or inch perfect through balls. If his game improves with a little more on-field time then ideal, until why not give the lad the benefit of the doubt.

What are we talking here has he had enough to justify the wage of an U-19 a Ross Forbes or an Alan Gow?
-
Went onto the Bradford forum for a gander and there was talk of McCall's former number two joining us: Wayne Jacobs The opinions were split, some thought he was part of their current problems, some advocated change was needed but wish him well, some thought he'd do well until the end of the season if/when Peter Taylor is sacked. Anyone heard if Tommy Craig coming is still on the cards?

Dundee were rotten and their crazy tackling combined with ironic cheers whenever they got a free kick reminded me of the Hearts game when we felt hard done by and started to lose the plot. Griffiths is a wee nyaff, who no doubt has something in the same way Templeton has (don't think he'll reach the same heights though). His attitude and conduct on the park will always make the opposition fans hate him. As for that haircut, it appears there is no change to the flouncy mop that bounced along against Costa Rica in Italia 90, even bald guys have changed their do a few time in the last 20 years.

Maybe only a YTS, my Mrs charges £195 a pop.

Evidently, careful editing there by Sky Sports News what they missed was: "We should shut down in December, We should shut down in January and we should start the season at the very beginning of July, Why ....." ............ "because the Strictly final takes place and in Dancing on Ice starts in the New Year ...... Cha Cha Cha"

Well there is rent to Queens Park/SFA and around £250k (conservatively) in salaries for their staff and other admin fees such as a few phone bills, a franking machine, water cooler, post it's and headed paper. Also lets not forget professional fees to lawyers etc. Personally I'd rather see that invested elsewhere in Scottish football. Getting back to the timing of Boyle's comments, nobody think he's been in Australia over the Christmas and New Year period as he has done for the past few years and this is the first time he's been in a position to be approached by a camera crew for an interview?
-
If, and its a big hypothetical "if" McCall didn't have any control over releasing Gow and Blackman (i.e. they were signed until May) would they have featured today, despite a loss in form of both and other players being used out of position to accommodate them? Also, if Saunders was fit, would we have seen Hateley in Midfield over Fitzpatrick? What I'm saying is that most fans would have picked the same starting line up given the squad available. It just happens the job was made very easy for the management due to the injury (Saunders) and players leaving the team earlier in the week. The starting 11 are probably our strongest 11 players in the pool.

Does anyone know exactly what the SPL offer that the SFL didn't/can't? For one I can see slicker marketing and logo's, but I put a lot of that down to a more youthful management team who understood the importance of these facets in modern business 10+ years ago. Other than that I'm at a loss. Surely administration of a league, arranging fixtures plus getting consensus from chairmen can be organised by one body looking after Scottish Football's professional teams. The costs the SPL incur every year for me would be better spent on facilities such as indoor facilities and 3G pitches. That is unless I'm missing something in my nativity? I'm more than willing to be informed.

This isn't a criticism of the new manager or the caretaker. It's just to stimulate a debate and see how opinions lie among the support. Everyone is universally applauding the change back to the same starting line up and formation that saw us do so well in the European games/first few weeks of the league. Combine that with the universal lacklustre performances since we played St. Johnstone, it was refreshing to see some fluidity and passion again. There is no doubt that Murphy and Sutton are working well and complimenting each other, the midfield look a little more solid, granted the defence hints often that its very close to a car crash, however that's 2 clean sheets now. With all the plaudits and back slapping getting thrown about, how many changes would we have witnessed today in personnel, positioning and tactics if Gow and Blackman has been secured up until May?
-
Plaudits from me to the three in particular who have received all the credit so far on this thread. There was definitely some relief and emotion (when you consider the past few weeks) when Jenno scored that goal. However Murphy got my vote, stepped up and rekindled that flame we all witnessed earlier this season. Instrumental.

He must not be aware that "Dancing With The Stars" is on STV just now. I agree with Coopers comments, problem is the players are so used to very decent money, too much for us to go back to an acceptable amount for a fan to pay would require them to eat humble pie and take a pay cut. When we live so close to the cash cow that is England and English Football then the quality would definitely dwindle.

That's giving me a stiffy even thinking about it.

Evident your still hurting from our tet-a-tet in the other thread, and in answer to your question no, it doesn't adversely affect the thread.
