Just planting a seed "Motherwell Football Club has never lost a game. They just ran out of time." c.2010 LadywellToi borrowed from Vince Lombardi

There has been some talk on here with respect to the club not really adding value for some of the die hard support. I know it maybe a little early seeing as we have 3 hours to get a result against OB ahead of us however I have a suggestion as to how the club could offer at least something back to the fans who have dug deep to support Motherwell on our travels thus far this season. If we qualify, we get 3 home games, the club may pursue a 3 ticket Euro package similar to what Rangers and Celtic have offered in the past with the Champions League. If they do or just continue the way we've been going so far then why not offer 1 game free to anyone who has travelled to Iceland/Norway/Denmark. It may only be a small gesture for what .... around 500 people in total (and cost £10,000 in potential revenue). I know we have tight budgets and this sort of money is a big thing especially when you know its a guaranteed £10,000 on match day. It pails into insignificance when you compare a £20 ticket with £400+ to get to some of the previous games (and some have went to more than one). The benefit is the club have a record due to UEFA regulations of every supporter who has travelled and to administer it would be relatively simple. As for a PR coup it could go down well with many on here. I'm afraid I haven't been able to get to any of the away games thus far and it wouldn't affect me however my £60 for 3 games or so is guaranteed if we progress. Just a thought that I hope is at least given consideration if the footballing gods smile on us in the next 8 days.

Christ, if what Bill is suggesting is true then the next 180 mins of European football could be worth 3/4 of our annual turnover in one swoop ...... £3m (suggesting Celtic bomb out and Dundee go out narrowly got gain extra TV money - my best scenario, however not best for the Scottish co-efficient). It's like the money we should have got for Paul Lambert but didn't, saying that it would have been wasted paying for Spencer's fake tan. However essentially we are looking at 3x 7,500+ (for us a good bit above average crowd and outwith season ticket revenue too) home attendances over and above 19 SPL fixtures and 2 home League/Scot cup ties and TV money that probably wasn't budgeted for in the summer as they tend to go with the worst case scenario. As for Thursday night, defensive tactics is a given, Blackman gave a good account of himself I felt on Sunday and Humphrey is improving 10 fold each game. I've put Blackman in left midfield, don't know if he'd be able to function adequately here however I hope he could as he had quick feet and some nice touches but its mainly for the pace and support he would offer. Personally I'd sacrifice Sutton as he's not suited to a counter attacking tactics (even though defensively he does well) its just he's too slow in my humble opinion for this specific game. I'd replace Sutton in the starting lineup (controversially no doubt) with Forbes as his passing is probably the best in the team at present and allows the release the fast guys on the counter attack. Brown's defensive tactics would make up for his lack of pace and perceived laziness, plus another he's natural midfielder who we would look to have behind the ball soaking up the pressure. If Murphy goes AWOL in the 2nd half as he did in the last 2 games I'm sub him for Sutton and switch him and Blackman as I feel he does OK in a midfield role when he's been asked to do it. I would have liked it if we picked up the 2ft right back from the bounce game, allowing Hateley to move to midfield as I felt last season he played even better there than he did at right back when needs demanded it. However you deal the hand you've been given. Therefore I'd go with: ------------------------- Randolph --------------------------- - Hateley ------ Craigan ------ Reynolds ------ Hammell - ----------- Forbes --- Lasley --- Jennings --- Blackman -- - Humphrey -------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- Murphy ---------------------------

I have one of Casagolda's oil infused hairs, I plan to suspend it between two poles and et viola, Danish commentary translated into English.

Based on what's written above and a conservative estimate on our potential performance of 1 home win, 1 draw and one loss and 1 away draw and 2 losses. Home ties £820,000 - qualification for group stages £150,000 - home game 1 (based on 7,000 home support @ £20 + £10,000 hospitality/boxes) -£15,000 - stewards, police, catering, other overheads +£20,000 - for every 1,000 fans above 7,000 (for increased home support/away support) £110,000 - for win £190,000 - home game 2 (based on 9,000 home support @ £20 + £10,000 hospitality/boxes) -£15,000 - stewards, police, catering, other overheads +£20,000 - for every 1,000 fans above 9,000 (for increased home support/away support) £0 - for loss 170,000 - home game 3 (based on 8,000 home support @ £20 + £10,000 hospitality/boxes) -£15,000 - stewards, police, catering, other overheads +£20,000 - for every 1,000 fans above 8,000 (for increased home support/away support) £55,000 - for draw Home total = £1,450,000 £55,000 - away draw -£21,000 - 35 club employees @ £300 return flight + accommodation/sustenance @ £300 £0 - away loss -£21,000 - 35 club employees @ £300 return flight + accommodation/sustenance @ £300 £0 - away loss -£21,000 - 35 club employees @ £300 return flight + accommodation/sustenance @ £300 Away total = -£8,000 + TV revenues from 6 games (don't know based on what Bill suggested if we can negotiate our own deals or if UEFA have the rights and its already defined or if they give us a cut), i.e. if we qualify and get a German team with the market rate at £500,000 is that all ours? If it is the case then we are looking in excess of £2m. With that we could buy and sell Cardiff bloody City.

BBC says the entry to the group stages is worth £1.5m. Can't think how long and how many games we'd have to play in the SPL/Scottish Cup to get anywhere near that sort of income. I don't think that included the increased exposure and increased attendances that will follow as a result, the 1.5 million is just the UEFA cash. These 2 games for £1.5m is our Championship play-off final, that is until next season and we qualify for the more lucrative Champions League. I'm just hoping that on Thursday just for one time the long list of events that have conspired against us in the past whither it be referees, miss-kicks or woodwork not favouring us is shelved and the planets can align and give us a perfect game. Here's to everyone clicking on the pitch and and 50-50's going our way. Mon the Well.

11 Across, come on get with the program. Diggles hit the nail on the head though, prepare for a deluge of kodak moments

+1 For all we know he maybe used the Motherwell vs Motherwell game to get his match fitness up when his main goal was a trial at Ibrox via his fellow countryman Bougherra.
-
I had a look on their fans forum earlier and it seems they is a mix of: 30% "to hell with them, little whinging team" 30% "Quinn is rotten, you can have him back" and another 40% who have a red neck about the whole sorry process Leeann's interview on STV is the route we should have went down for going public with this rather than John getting all over-excited on Sky. The Championship/FA are complicit in this though, how could they countenance allowing them to buy new players when they were banned from doing so when there are debts relating to the initial ban still owed.

Jesus Dibble, What's really annoying is you giving people gip for not fully agreeing with you. I said I felt he came a close second or did you miss that part. I along with another third of the people on here felt that Randolph was better. I also added that Sutton could have had a hat-trick by 20 minutes mainly due to Humphrey or do you just hone in all things that are not 100% favourable to him. As for Humphrey, I'm glad he started and I'm glad he seems to be improving game on game. I did feel he was lacking when he is the one with reputed pace and ambled about at ONE point and let Hammell (Left Back) sprint by him (Right Winger) to offer support to Murphy. However other than that I thought he had a excellent game. You OK with that or is some ned going to get a extra whack with a soap in a sock tonight? Are you to Humphrey what Hammerfist is to Casagolda?

I'm only outside Fir park when buying a European ticket and as I now have one sorry I can't give you the inside lowdown. Ballroot!

Didn't rile me at all, I posted on the MotM thread first and then repeated a bit in this as this thread was more specific. You can have a word with your carer first and ask them to up your dosage as its not Flow's remit as far as I'm aware. If the youth team can muster, touch base and then get down to Upper Crust for a bacon roll by 10:15 then I wonder why a first team starter isn't around.
-
My opinion Rushing about is not good preparation in my eyes and I'm not sure that 1.5 hours gives you enough before a league game. I don't think walking in at 10:30 was the defining factor if he played well today or not, however I don't think it would have helped.
-
First half we had a corner and he looked gubbed, bent over hands on knees. In the second he tried for about 5 minutes to stretch due to cramp right on the half-way line.
-
I think its safe to say 1.5 hours wasn't enough.
-
Wasn't biting the arse off his worst though. Does anyone know how long before a game the players are expected to report to FP? He showed up at 10:30 when I was in the ticket queue, not what I would imagine is good preparation.
-
Randolph for me, sound judgement on nearly every occasion. Looks like Craig has unearthed a diamond here and 3 year deal too. Goals were all stramashes. Humphrey close second however looked like he was labouring from 30 mins on and the odd cross still goes wayward/doesn't beat the first man. Annoyed me in the first half when we had a breakaway and Hammell sprinted the length of the park to show him how it should be done, he was ambling at first then shifted gear. Murphy was on course to win man of the match but like the game against Aalesund he went AWOL for an hour which coincided when they went 4-2-4. Sutton could have had a hat-trick by half time, maybe needs to take some smelling salts before the game to wake his brain up. Impressed with Blackman in the little we saw of him, good touches, fast feet and looks rapid. Reynolds was woeful, maybe got something to do with him rocking up in his Audi at 10:30 when I was in the ticket queue. Bet he hopes there wasn't any scouts in the crowd ..... ESPN television were there ..... Doh! Lasley and Jennings, don't understand why when the other team plays with 2 in midfield we don't play through midfield and exploit it. Lasley didn't have his best game, Jennings for me was in and out the game at times, generally solid when he was. Craggs got out of jail twice, once down to Nish being rotten and luck of the Irish. Saunders got chewed out by Archie on a couple of occasions for woeful passing, he's a better centre-half than he is a right back. Hammell, Mr Dempendable, selfless and always around looking to help an attack. No doubt Hateley is no happy about his subbing. Casagolda really pissed me off, where was the hat-trick we were promised?
-
Just been on the official website: “Casagolda is a bit of a rough diamond but he’s got talent,” said the former Scotland boss. ............ talent for self promotion going on the evidence of this thread and his website.
-
OK, does anyone know of any well fans who currently reside in or around the Dumfrieshire village/idil/settlement of Thornhill. Out them now!!!!!!
-
Plus he's from Bellshill, it all seems to add up to a natural move for him. if you're reading this Jamie, one step back (salary expectations) to take 2 forward (Europa Cup Final).
-
No Humphrey at all in your line up Juan? What I'm reading into things is 3 very fast players in Humphrey, Murphy and Blackman, Sutton maybe sacrificed to a midfield-get-forward-when-you-can role as a result as I can't see him being able to keep up. Blackman may not be overused as he is here on a 6 month loan and you can't build on that. I reckon he's in to take over from Murphy after at least 70 minutes a game so he isn't burned out come March/April, offer cover, an extra option and impact late in a game. A defensive tactic overall with rapid counter attacking tactics to exploit the pace and the decent centre half pairing we have and fit with Brown's cautiousness.
-
Like what a "Casagolda Lava Lamp - bask in his glow"
-
Sorry, I meant to add that this was probably 1 month into the season. I agree if Blackman and Casagolda play on Sunday then it will be from 70 minutes onwards due to match fitness and gelling with the squad. Looking forward to the ironic cheer when Casagolda is subbed on based on the hype and "that thread" As for Sunday: ------------------Randolph----------------- Saunders--Craigan--Reynolds--Hammell --------Lasley--Jennings--Hateley-------- ---Humphrey------------------------------- -----------Murphy--Sutton-----------------
-
I reckon if things go to Brown's plan then we are looking at this as the preferred starting line up. However Humphrey's form of late would suggest he would start at the expense of Saunders with Hateley moving to right back which creates new problems. ------------------Randolph----------------- Saunders--Craigan--Reynolds--Hammell --------Lasley--Jennings--Hateley-------- -----------------Casagolda----------------- -----------Murphy-------------------------- ------------------Sutton-------------------- Hammell and Hateley offer speed and overlap opportunities down the left and Murphy would offer the same on the right however would sometimes sacrifice being in the box as a result. I'd be interested to know if Casagolda can act in a midfield role if we bring Humphrey on.
