  1. Reminds me of that Norwegian TV commentators rant in the early 80's when they beat England. Quality!
  2. Reckon the above is likely apart from Hateley as discussed on other threads. Here's mine: Anyone but Fraser Saunders - Craigan - Hutchison - Hammell Lasley - Jennings - New Guy (TBA) Forbes Murphy - Sutton Dreamteam (still possible ... just): Ruddy New Guy - Hutchison - Craigan - Hammell Hateley New Guy - Jennings - Lasley Murphy - Sutton Anyone got Gannon's number to see who he fancies as the New Guy's?
  3. I'm just concerned as why a manager let a player dictate things to the extent that when our club captain and central defender went off, the aforementioned player who had been playing right back almost every game in 2010 was left in midfield for a right winger. The 3rd goal and everything surrounding it reminded me of the Hibs game and Rentokil's almost carbon copy of how Humphrey dealt with things on Sunday. As for the Hateley/Pitch/Daily Record thing, just like Tonto, I can see smoke from 10 miles away, it obvious there is a bigger issue in play here, either a bigger move or brinkmanship to get a better salary T&C's. The use of the pitch being the deal-breaker is a public way of reminding us he's out of contract and stirring up fan interest and calling to retain him, therefore putting the board under a little extra pressure. I think with the amount of trailist's we've fielded of late (Ghanian and Chelsea kid, etc.) who's bio's suggest they play the same position, it seems like Brown is already resigned that he's on his way.
  4. Agree with the above point. Interested to know what you'd like to see implemented to instigate the changes?
  5. Based on what has been written in this and another thread it looks as if Jack played Hateley in midfield down to his previous performances AND because the player requested it AND because he wanted to keep him sweet in an effort to resign him. Not the best especially when as a result a right winger was played as a right back to accommodate it. Maybe this is a knee jerk because our initial run has been followed by 4 losses in a row but I've found myself increasingly questioning some of Brown's decisions of late. St Mirren away, played for a draw with a weakened team to save players for Hearts on the Saturday Off you go to the races boys, week off thing Tactics not good enough to combat 75mins against 10 men Defeat by bottom team, granted we rode our luck in the game in the 1st half of the season so maybe that was karma. Can't comment on Celtic away as I didn't see it, however a centre half scoring twice from set pieces is not ideal. Sunday has been covered at great length already and no doubt everyone has their own strong views on how things progressed.
  6. SPL demand all clubs have a 10,000 minimum stadium, so at present that would be the in the first line of the brief given to any architectural firm. I think something like that wall is fantastic, something really different that would encourage increased attendance I'm sure. The mound of grass like the Australian Parliament makes it but more suited to the middle east as keeping the cars cool is major consideration.
  7. So at present its: Craigan Lasley Hammell Saunders Duke says he would like to stay, but SPL fixture farce potentially killed that off. I thought Jack and Vic said they'd be a whole raft of news in the weeks ahead and then Hammell was the only news on this for a long time.
  8. Not something I'd ever noticed until I watched the highlights earlier, but what's the big circle in the Cooper goalmouth all about? Essentially the "Rockport boot and sand & seed" method of groundskeeping have to be finally dealt with. P45's are required Mr Boyle.
  9. Afraid not, hoping he may do the honourable thing and fall on his blade (or sign for a 2nd Division team). Seems we have been spoiled with Ruddy this season who definitely raised the benchmark, as a result his understudy has large boots to fill and unfortunately Fraser has been found sadly lacking in almost everything I consider a keeper should be doing. A lot of professional football players would tend to improve when they move to a bigger club and have better talent around them challenging for a starting place. This guy has no doubt worked all season alongside Ruddy, the Polish guy and the coach and it appears no improvement or increase in composure.
  10. Public spending is on hold/getting cut, assume everyone has seen the news in the past 2 years? For us to move we'd need NLC, European money and some tie in with sponsors/business. Think the board would welcome it but only in a few years when the price they would get for the FP site would pick up, Ravesncraig will still be cheap as chips for a while yet. I think if it does go ahead it would have to be justified as a multi-sport venue, possibly with a running track. To make it pay for itself it'd probably need ancillary facilities attached such as a hotel, offices, conference centre and gym possibly. Also NLC has had its fingers burned with Clyde at Broadwood so maybe reluctant. Not in favour of a lego stand affair, think we have plenty of talented architects locally who could design something unique and cost effectively.
  11. Initially glad to see Hateley back in his anchor role between the defence and midfield, struggled to understand why he wasn't put into the right back position when Crags went off and Humphrey came on. Jack ..... care to explain? Sutton took his goals well. Murphy again was tricky and despite looking like he'd blow over in a strong wind, think he is often overlooked on these polls as the ball seems to stick to his foot McFadden stylee. The Tazmanian devil that is O'Brien still confuses me. Surprised his antics when he gets hacked hasn't resulted in a red card. Sutton purely for doing what he's paid to do.
  12. Just wondering if psycho1991, decorator and mon da well still think this is the way forward after Sunday's uselessness between the sticks? Is it true he's one of the highest paid at FP? If he is I think he should Wikipedia the Japanese Bushido code and do the honourable thing, I'm sure he'd find lots of tacky samurai blades sitting on many Forgie mantelpieces.
  13. Personally I'm not in favour in the limited pot of money being diluted to include another 6 or 8 teams. And as much as we don't like to admit it, the comments on this thread reinforce the fact that a home OF game does boost our bank balance considerably. A larger league means 2 less home OF games per year (or in the case of this year just one).
  14. Does anyone know under the new SPL TV deal if the fee paid for hosting a TV game makes up for the lower attendance and the additional loss of income from that? Essentially does a club such as Motherwell welcome a TV game or not? Anyone know how much better off we are as a result? Guessing if we get a TV game against the OF at home we're quids in because we get as close to a full house as we're going to get and there is the TV money too. Against Falkirk for example its a completely different story.
  15. To be fair since the SPL's inception and even before I think you'd struggle to find many seasons where either Rangers or Celtic finished outside the top 6. So I think its safe for the scheduler to use them as a datum and plan the other fixtures around them annually. Essentially what we are dealing with here is a seeding system based on the previous seasons performance, what else could the SPL use in the summer? Only way to get around this is for the SPL to increase to 14 so a split would happen after an even number of games opposed to an odd number. But then you'd play 36 games before the split and a further 6 after it. However I think it's irresponsible both commercially and morally for the governing body to deny clubs who benefit in a big way from a OF visit to deny them this basic right when an above par performance over the 33 games ends up with a financial penalty (in terms of lost gate revenue and secondly fans faced with an extra away game and the cost that brings). SPL should have a structure in place for this, for Christ sake, Celtic are going to win bugger all, this season ended on Saturday afternoon, we're playing them on Tuesday and then again a couple of weeks later. Why not schedule that second game for FP? I'd like to know the SPL's reasoning there.
  16. Based on the fact that Leeann's major remit is to ensure the club generates enough revenue so that JB doesn't have to dip into his pocket, I think its safe to say she's rattled a few cages in Mount Vernon since this mess was released to the general public. Whither they listen or this is a thinly veined rebuke for the state of the pitch or the fact we've got the smallest support (therefore least hassle) is another matter. I'm content to blame McGhee for not finishing 6th last season as a result the SPL would have factored our fixtures prior to the split so we didn't have to swallow this crap.
  17. Words to the song "You are going to win ..." changed to "You have won ......" now its official.
  18. As I'm in no doubt some of the players must occasionally scan through these boards the title of this thread is a little irresponsible. I'm sure Ross knows his forms has dropped and not following the hopes both he and the fans had when seeing his performances from Europa to November. Last thing he needs when he's already low and trying hard to get back into the saddle is this. After the Bucharest game at home I was telling my OF friends this was a guy to watch, definite Scotland material, we had a worldbeater who would definitely earn us a cool £1m easily (when you use McCarthy as a datum £1.2m to £3m based on appearances). He reinforced that during the St Johnstone opener. Feel Gannon took the wind out his sails with some loosely directed comments, however he also elevated him to the team and gave him a chance few others would have so there is the ying and yang theory. Performances of late have not matched what we've seen earlier, I'm sure he is the first to acknowledge that and is trying to overcome it. Its obvious its a mental issue rather than a physical one, threads like this don't help, especially if its contents filter back through to him. He's a young guy that needs reassurance, Christ, how mentally strong were you at his age? All this is going to do is to distance himself even further and erode any loyalty he would ever have for us or the club we support.
  19. So what's the feeling on this? This guy being looked at to allow Hateley to move into midfield as he was before Christmas or because he's not staying?
  20. The SPL know that a home old firm game really affects the balance book of most other teams in the league. Surely qualification for the top 6 should ensure at least one home game and the extra revenue it brings in. To give us 2 trips to Glasgow is a disgrace and I hope Leeann appeals (I guess the club were advised before going public so maybe this option has already gone).
  21. I think they did within an hour of your post, Falkirk players on the one square of greenery passing the ball about at half-time last week.
  22. Johnstone I agree with you with respect to youth development, just not on a senior level. I'd advocate the building of free to use 5 a side artificial pitches throughout the country, you could get community service yobs and/or long term unemployed learning trades to construct them. On a senior level, you still schedule a standard season, starting a little earlier during a Euro or WC year as we know in the previous Oct/Nov if we will be there. If we qualify we book off 6 weeks (3 for the build up and 3 for the initial phase of the tournament) with an option of a further 2 for knock out stages. National boss would no doubt be happy that his team had been playing competitively and were mid season. If we have a tournament that eclipses any in the past 80 years and we get past the first stage then the season continues on a little later no harm done. Scottish Cup and League Cup could be arranged so any teams getting to Europe after Christmas have a good build up, still with a final in the late Spring (maybe the last game before the Scotland team meet up). If we don't qualify no need for changes at the scheduling stage. Benefit include being able to sell our product to a greater market, over time you would hope an increased level of technical ability among our players, more inclusion as kids are more inclined to emulate their hero's after a game when it doesn't get dark to 9 through to 10:30, better environment to go and take kids - Well market themselves as a family club. Finally I really enjoy going to a game in my T-shirt, its just a better atmosphere when the sun is out.
  23. Don't think the rain would affect the playing surfaces to the degree which you are talking. It rains in a Scottish winter too. Rugby league manages it perfectly and its a much more damaging sport on the surface. Average 15 hours daylight, warmer temperatures, all the perfect conditions to allow grass to thrive and regeneration in the average 2 weeks or so between games lasting 1.5 hours. A rain shower in January would have a worse effect on a grass pitch than one in May.
  24. Summer football - problem solved
  25. Brave picture you use there Something Else, especially after what his mob did to the Craig. To be honest I'd take whoever would have us. Love it if Nike or Adidas emulated the Pony strips of the mid 90's.
