  1. I'm like a Ninja, no chance .... Judo Chop. Felt the need to add to the Jesus thread, thanks for the link. If you were part of a Mossad assassination squad Diggle, which countries passport would you steal and use?
  2. Jesus, you're like Mr Miyagi's and Barry George's love child. Will check first in future
  3. Really surprised this hasn't been seized upon by now. It appears the Sheep have been replaced by Alpaca's in the North East as it appeared he was gobbed on post-match. Part of Trump's grass management plan on the Meanie Estate, a name that always makes me smile due to the fact its filled with irony considering their stereotype. Spitting is out of order, as are chants about family.
  4. I'd start with Murphy and McGlinchy for Lukas and Sutton, at the end they reminded me of Tommy Coyne after the Ireland Italy game in WC '94 - gubbed would be an understatement. Accies probably wound't have planned for it and tricky players against big lumbering defenders = lots of free kicks for Hateley. Seen their assistant manager is waxing lyrical about the pitch .... blah blah blah, I've now switched onto "Charlie Brown, teacher talking" mode whenever I read/hear anything about the pitch.

    Rangers

Can't fault O'Brien's endeavour, however wondered why run like a mentalist, win the ball and pass it directly to Weir? His passes broke down more moves than what he created. I was on my feet at least 5 times in the last 20 minutes voicing that particular opinion. Felt Murphy could have came on earlier as both forwards were labouring after putting in an admirable shift. Either of the two wingers on with 5-10 minutes to go to take on old men in Rangers defence and give the other forward a rest. Craigan gets it. Very, very assured performance. I can't wait till Hutchison is fit an puts pressure on Reynolds to up his game. Thinking a midfield of Jennings, Coke, Hateley and Lasley is formidable. Ideally right back to free Hateley back to his best position. Get Hammell's contract renewed immediately. Good servant and wants to stay. In fact sign up everyone on longer deals, we've got a very promising squad.
  6. Me and the Mrs went to see Avatar at the cinema last Wednesday, it cost us just over £10 for our tickets and 3D glasses (courtesy of Orange). It lasted over 3 hours of continuous entertainment which broke the innovation barriers from what I'd seen before. Putting Saturday's game in context with above means for us both to attend it would have been £36 for 1 hour 30 minutes of ..... I use the term loosely ...... "entertainment". Sitting in a stand without an adequate public address system (There must be Health & Safety/Policing issues with it), not much above freezing, stand with buckets all over the place to catch the leaking roof water, toilets that remind me of Transpotting and catering inadequacies that's been well covered. But remember kids, you can't smoke due to the health and safety issues. From the scheme above Orange subsidise it to a degree and get advertising/sales but the cinema's obviously make a lot of money from ancillary services on the day. When football clubs offer no/few initiatives to attract a dwindling attendances then it needs addressed and lazy management highlighted. When you put things in context with other entertainment/hobbies out there at present then something major needs done to make the product more attractive because its not cutting it and dwindling crowds, TV audiences and revenue are inevitable. NB Would never take the girlfriend to the football, she wouldn't thank me and I won't want her there. She'd get bored after 5 minutes and start asking questions. I go to Fir Park for peace and an early heart attack.
  7. I think we are all guilty of doing what Celtic fans did with Simon Donnelly and countless others (being the next Dalglish/Johnstone) before really seeing what this emerging talent can deliver. I thought he looked like a world beater by the time he would get to 28 after his start to the season. At least he is going to get first team football unlike Slane. Even Chris McCart said at the fans forum that he would advise him to stay at Motherwell if he was wearing a neutral hat.
  8. What are the odds on some joker showing up to a Motherwell home game under this scheme with a ginger bottle?
  9. Pitch - won't be resolved unless we demolish South Stand, use a rig of UV lamps, switch to summer football or get Andy Russell back. Current solution seems to be fill divots with sand and pat down. Game - Rotten, goal summed it up. Hard to pick someone who stood out, Jennings or Coke maybe. For me nobody got above a 5. O'Brien - Felt sometimes he ran about like a man possessed, tried to play tricky football, conditions didn't allow it, lost the rag a couple of times, is going to have to learn that he can't play intricate stuff and not get frustrated. Impressed with his passion, dismayed with his behaviour. Billy Reid - I dislike him more than I did for his crappy interview, I'm not going to talk about the pitch then talked about the pitch, also "Imrie was unfortunate to get his booking". Jack - Again thanked everyone and their granny in his interview, results are pleasant reading, think 34 points will ensure safety however 4th place qualification is the aim isn't it? Thought only error was not leaving someone on halfway line during set plays. Allowed Hamilton to have last man a good 10 yards inside our half. Well Fans - We played the top 6 teams in the run up to Christmas, remember that, our current run has featured the teams at the bottom end of the table. Scottish Cup - Dundee Utd and Hibs qualified today, more games = exhaustion, may help us in the run in.
  10. MoM award to go on sideboard beside Diamond Dolls Executive Card and his Adult Film Industry Oscar. Really impressed with his interview following the speech, never heard anyone thank so many people (apart from Kate Winslet before she broke down). True man management. Here is an example of bits on the BBC online editors floor cut due to time constraints: "...... I'd also like to thank John Porteous' wife for her amorous attention played to our amazing physio, giving him and extra spring in his step today ........" "...... the plumbers who fixed the plumbing in the South Stand, the Kwik Fit fitters who put some 2 new low profile radials on my shaggin wagon, Archie for buying me a roll and sausage for lunch ......" Did he leave anyone out?
  11. Threads often go off topic and one concerning Celtic and a youth and the rapidly closing deadline may contain it. It didn't so I started one/ Going by your username, you must pick up rent boys and bury them in motorway lay-bys. Touche! Anyway, Sportscene's on
  12. Something at least, talking of all things antipodean, see the BBC have confirmed the "will he, won't he" McGlinchy deal is going through along with a guy from Reading, guess Hately may have been involved with a word in the ear .... sorry shout, of Jack and Vic.
  13. Apologies, read the last three pages of the Slane thread to see if it was mentioned before posting.
  14. Thread title says it all really. Are we due a cut?
  15. There wouldn't be extra costs for stewarding as all stands and exits have to be manned with a set amount. Maybe the police would insist on extra outside the ground, but only if the crowds were sustained. I think the only difference is in policing numbers itself. My opinion is, football lasts 1h 45mins, it takes place between the traditional lunch and dinner time, if you insist on going for a bite to eat from sub-standard e-coli nest then hell mend you, man up! 10 years ago the East stand had an extra 1,500 in it for an old firm game and managed to cope. Club doesn't lose out, as Juan points out, everyone pays the full price (so club is guaranteed roughly same income as last year if regulars renew) and then given rebates based on the signup rate/numbers. If they don't meet targets on the big blue peter totaliser then no rebate, club keeps its money. The season ticket holders who renew in June/July would be rewarded and less inclined to moan if club does initiatives later in the season if the Bradford method was taken up. I agree wholehartedly with this. I don't think the club makes that much in pay at the gate punters on these games to see why it wouldn't work. I know of quite a few people who went to Inverness because of the modest price reduction. I am believer in summer football as I think it may re-invigorate our game. Its the only thing I can see to jump start things. Think like a Mastercard advert: Davie Cooper Legend T-Shirt: £5 Drink in Beer Garden Before game: £5 Entry to Fir Park: £15 Bookies: £0 since Ladbrokes been told GTF Beating the OF 3-0 in 20 degree sunshine : Priceless
  16. Lukas for potential and resale value. unless he gets poached Slane stylee. Ruddy for stability and giving defence confidence (also worth 1 goal per game with his saves) More likely we'd be able to afford Ruddy.
  17. On BBC ALBA at 10pm - full game I think
  18. Scott "Some really interesting ideas here, but there's one thing I can never understand, and that's how people think they can demand a lower price and still expect the same (or higher) standard of product." It doesn't cost the club any more to have 1 or 5,000 extra Well fans in the ground. Maybe only in police numbers. If you sell 3,000 tickets for £250 each or sell them for £150 and that attracts an extra 2,000 season ticket holders, you still end up with 3/4 million. Only difference is you will sell more in the shop/programs/catering/bars and there is a better atmosphere. This question shouldn't be aimed at us who would buy a ticket regardless, Jesus we spend a lot of our time on a fans forum website commenting. The aim is to attract those milling round the outside or those who dip a toe in the water every so often. To have them back at Fir Park should be the main aim.
  19. People would dwindle if we are mid table come March time, look at last season, the last 6 games were nothing. The club needs money up front to plan budgets for the forthcoming season. Why not everyone pays £250 up front, use the sliding scale that Juan outlined and every two months arrange a refund scheme based on the numbers. The refund could either be cash or a voucher for the cash amount +20% to use in the club shop or bar for example. All you would need to retain in your original receipt. i.e. June - Purchase season ticket for £280 31st Aug - 3,600 sold therefore £50 or voucher for £60 31st October 4,000 sold therefore another £20 or £24 in bar/club shop 31st December 4,500 last one £25 or £30 voucher People will tend to spend money in their pockets especially if you hand it out before the game. So there is a good chance it will be retained by the club if the prepare well for a refund day. Good job Ladbrokes is shut. By offering an incentive after Christmas means you shouldn't loose too much trade due to 20% off offer. Some people will miss it meaning extra revenue for the club. It also means the season ticket holder might cajole mates/those fallen by wayside to get one if there was an online totaliser ..... like Blue Peter .....
  20. Excellent thread, our club needs to embrace ideas like this going forward. I don't know of any other initiatives there are going on in other clubs other than Leeds Utd offering cheaper tickets to those on the dole. This discussion could be pretty good if it continues and gives those who make the decisions at Fir Park some good ideas to ponder and possibly implement. One thing is certain the status quo is unsustainable and needs re-invigorating. Therefore anyone care to expand?
  21. I know it will not only be us in the SPL that is affected but wonder how the pitch will fare until the start of April when it starts to regenerate. Cue all sorts of abuse on Clyde, Real and Sportsound with the league cup semi to be played. Could do without it. I know its the best option that is equidistant and it will probably be near to full giving a better atmosphere opposed to playing at Hampden. I really can't be arsed with winter football any more, over it. Ended up almost doing the Olympic speed walk down Airbles Road because two of my mates were freezing. I'm more of a saunterer.

    St Mirren

Def agree with Sieb, Lasley & Coke could form a solid backbone to the side going forward, with Hately behind (looked edgy today out of position - know why he was put there, just wanting him firing all cylinders in the holding role), Lukas in front and Ruddy in-between the sticks. Didn't know why Humphry ran parallel to the by-line on his first break rather than towards goal. Though Lasley was busy, industrious and sprayed some telling accurate passes about (by which I mean ahead/into the path of the attacking player so he didn't have to check his stride and break the move down). Normally I would have opted for him, today its someone else. My vote today goes to Craigan, solid, safe and everything you want in a centre-half. No sclaffs, miskicks or OG's (bonus as he was in the running for the UEFA golden boot at one stage), did something to silence his critics (me included as one of his strongest earlier this season, I'm first to admit. Gannon too watching free on his plasma in Cheshire) and showed how he is a true professional by biting his tongue leading up to 28/12 rather than a public spat that the ex-boss appeared to be looking for. Kevin Kyle take notes and learn. How easy it would have been to go to the Record and point out what a lot of us were oblivious to. NB Can Jack and Vic look at buying players with surnames Dyett & Cherry just for the comedy factor listening to commentaries on the radio. Ability preferable, but not manditory (REF: A Roddie, J Davies)
  23. Duke had 9 stitches in his groin - mates dad is one of the medics. Guess he won't be giving it the great fandango down at the Mega Bar tonight ..... or afterwards in the bachelor pad.
  24. So at present there hasn't been much of a change except fans can watch the games in their t-shirt and sit outside a pub for a drink beforehand for 3 extra months? Interesting about the Friday night thing though, I underestimated the pull of the Gaelic sports until I saw the size of Croke Park and remembered C4's attempt to show it in the early 90's. Guess we wouldn't have to reschedule because Kingussie was playing Clachnicuddin. I think another good thing about it is Amateur and Junior players could get to senior games for a portion of the season they would normally miss.
