At present - ramblings of a madman Where he'll finish his career - definitely
-
That statement has to be fuelled by a cocktail of Roofies and Lambrini .... surely
-
I didn't say I saw it happening with Humphrey, I just said if he got a Matrix style download into his napper I'd load it with Maldini's ability. Law offers width and tended to break up the wing, 16/17 assists last season can't all have been from sliderule passes to his centre forward.
-
If Humphrey converted to a right wingback I'd have him in the team in a second as he would offer so much. However I can't see him gaining defensive nonse and tackling ability overnight when his bread and butter crossing is still hit and miss. I'd rather bring him on at half time and roast someone who has already ran 4 miles. Plus there was a few games last season when he was blowing with 30 minutes to go (although I do know he had a thigh problem for a bit) however it did look CV based rather than nursing an injury. If you have him in from the start, who do you sacrifice in that formation?
-
I'd advocated Hateley moving back to a holding role in midfield too, therefore right back (other than Saunders) is high on my list of "Ins". I'd like to think Saunders and Hutchison could grow together as a pair under Craigan's tutelage however I fear Saunders is prone to Amoruso-esque gaffs at least once a game. Based on who we've brought in and with a few bits here and there still to be announced my strongest team (and what I'd like to see as everyone would be playing to their strengths): ------------ Randolph --------------- RB? -- Hutchison -- CH? -- Hammell ------------- Hateley --------------- --- Jennings ---- Lasley ---- Law --- --------------------- Murphy -------- ------------- Higdon ---------------- Bench: Hollis Humphrey Forbes Saunders McHugh Carswell In the past year I've felt Humphrey has performed better as an impact sub and when he's chased balls into gaps or over the top rather than stand on the halfway line, take a touch and then chase it.

Night Swimming In a sea of piss

His agent obviously thinks advising him for 1 years deals is the way forward to maximise his weekly wage, however you would say as he approached his 3rd pen to paper in 2 years then that strategy isn't working.
-
You still going to be here to discuss it?
-
I couldn't make it, however for all those who were in Aaelsund, if the club presented you with their stadium opposed to an ACME Barr lego brick effort on the Ravenscraig site what would you make of that?
-
I'm sure Gordy thought you were really pleasant when you shot him down earlier in the Davie Hay thread.
-
You got a track record of starting shite threads on the other forums?
-
The next generation could do a lot worse than pick up a few pointers from training alongside him. Your wee cartoon man needs new glasses. He would be our Ljundberg (on a smaller scale), we'd sell another 100 tops in the shop and add 200 season tickets at least to the gate he day he signed. Plus we'd have a national legend back in C&A.
-
That why you and I have the careers we do and football managers, coaches, tacticians and scouts run football clubs and decide on the future of players and their usage, because despite what me may propose on here we ALL actually know fuck all about it other than 90 minutes every two weeks.
-
My choice on that thread centred on a player who is long gone from the club and was universally berated. Whenever anyone has listed a present player I have winced. All current players unless they are clearly not up to it deserves everyone's support until they no longer pull the C&A over the heads. Yes you can get frustrated but laying in 3 days into pre-season, when probably reset his frame of mind to say "OK, there's a line in the sand regarding last season, lets see what we can do in in the next year" and you're shooting him down already.
-
Happy with the club crest, would protest outside FP in a tent if we opted for anything other the C&A. If we were going to change things to something similar to the above, I'd opt for a font of our time (2nd decade in the 21st century), rather than one developed and used 40/50 years ago. I'd relish a move to Ravenscraig only if it was done sustainably and careful consideration was made to the atmosphere. I'd like to think that all the European venue's we've recently visited (especially in Scandinavia) may have left an impression. However I'm still a big fan of The Wall or another landmark building.

Shite thread, especially as it seems to be have contrived to give a young guy in the current team yet more pelters. As Steve said, despite playing well he was repeatedly dropped/shunted to make way for loanee's and guys trading on what they achieved earlier in their career who we'd never make a penny on. I can only hope for HOTD for this.

For pure nepotism over and above his ineptitude .... John Davies You could argue some of the players we brought in like Falconer and McSkimming for the money was abysmal, that is if you compare it to now, however it was how things rolled back then, now a fair portion of signing fees goes direct to wages.
-
We won't get loaned premiership starlets as until mid August 3 weeks into our season) until their managers decide if they want to keep them or farm them out. I reckon we'll pick up one or two.

Worrying resemblance to Casagolda's tweets

You would hope that fringe players like Forbes and Page step up and really give McCall a few headaches, however this debate was covered about 20 pages back.

Players salaries go up incrementally along with appearance fees etc. year on year. We could have been paying Hutchison £x from now till next summer, however the club decided to pay him £y and have him sign a year extension till 2013. Same with Humphrey and a whole host of other players last summer. Its no so cut and dried that 6 players leave, 2 come in and that's that. A host of other players wages would be eating into a pot available and as Steve says, quality not quantity. Law is a fine example, young guy, top assists in league 2, lots of Rotherham fans upset (why? because they know they've lost a good player and/or a decent transfer fee). He had lots of interest but he's coming to us. The club appear to be speculating to accumulate in the transfer market in the years ahead in the same way Hibs capitalised in the last 5 years. Its also late June, lets keep things in perspective.

Only thing I can think of with respect to the honour roll, it would have looked a bit odd if we won the Scottish Cup in our 125th year and it wasn't listed on our 125th anniversary strip. This would have went to manufacture well in advance. The record attendance certainly wasn't going to change so its a safe stat.

Jon Taylor had pretty much signed in principal, went into Shrewsbury to say his goodbyes and was cornered by the Chairman and Manager, he emerged with a 2 year deal.
