Didnt say he was! I was just replying to a question from Andy as to if there was anyone else in the squad
-
Max Johnstone the only LB in the squad, only 18 I think
-
I dont like being negative. And its more frustration than negativity! I actually believe we have a very decent team, but unfortunately weve contrived (mainly by the Manager) to cut our own throats. 7 billion people in the world, all except our fucking manager, can see Chris Long is never a lone striker in a million years, but we will see him back in that position tomo nite. Incidentally the same situation with only Robinson seeing Grimshaw as a professional footballer! Tony Watt was fantastic the season he played for St Johnstone as TM, he could hold the ball up, link with the midfield etc, but he is warming our bench or getting cameos on the fucking wing. Hastie blew into the team as an inverted winger (cutting in on his good foot from the opposite wing) but he has been fucking awful recently, so why not try him on the left where he can at least run on the outside and beat defenders with his pace? We all know how Livvy will line up, and everyone knows they will sit in. Unfortunately we also know Robinson will not admit he is wrong and "go again" with the same ridiculous tactics and team and for the life of me I just cant see how we will break them down with how we are playing at the moment
-
Barring some kind of miracle, the best we can hope for here is a Livvy off day so we can scrape a 0-0. Im sure Livvy have a pretty decent record away from home, they are a stuffy team who will sit in so we will struggle to score, and we are 99.9% likely to see Hastie Rw & Seedorf Lw completely neutering their pace, and Grimshaw & Mugabi in defence, completely neutering our ability to keep a clean sheet. Plus we will see the delights of Long yet again as a lone target man I would love to see Donnelly for Grimshaw & Maguire or Hussein for Mugabi (neither can be much worse than him) plus Hylton/Seedorf RW with Hastie given a run LW and Watt starting as TM. But Ive more chance of rodding Jennifer Lawrence than seeing Robbo change things.
-
So we start in the second qualifying round? How many rounds are there, 4?
-
That was more about the positions than actual players. Failing to replace Tait & Hartley means we dont have enough CD to play 3 at the back, and are stuck with the worst RB in the SPL as our only RB, and cant play wing backs. It limits our options!
-
Thats just nonsense tho. Maybe Im reading it wrong, but all thats being asked for is for our "third" place finish to be held in context. Its nothing like previous years when teams were rebuilding etc because we never played a full seasons matches, we literally stopped with almost a quarter of fixtures still to play! When the season was ending we were in serious danger of being the only team in the history of the SPL to make it to 40+ points and NOT make the top 6, such was the utter cunt we were making of things. Last years 3rd place finish is an achievement on paper, but in reality more of a technicality than true achievement. We werent 15 points clear like Celtic, we had won 1 match in 8 and were hanging on to our place in the top 6 for grim death. We got lucky, Il take that! What last seasons final league position shouldnt be, is something thats used to paper over the cracks that are very evident this season! We are on a retched run, the Managers recruitment looks awful....... again........ we look unfit and disorganised at the start of a season......... again. And now he is clutching at straws claiming we have a "young team" when there are more 28-32 year olds in it than 21 year olds, thats bollocks thrown out to deflect from the fact that the Manager has made a rip roaring cunt of our pre season. As I said in a previous post, any other manager in world football would be under serious pressure to deliver after 1 win in 11, but ours isnt. We all know that on wed night, Hastie will be back at right wing, Grimshaw will be at RB, Long will be back as TM and Watt will be back on the bench, to come on late probably on the wing, and we will yet again be known as Motherwell Nil. Only hope is Livvy are equally shite so we can scrape a draw
-
Team co-efficient. Aberdeen are ranked higher than Us
-
The issue is, due to our poor recruitment, we actually cant do anything else other than 4-3-3. Campbell & Turnbull together in a midfield 4 would be overun & Turnbull would be completely nullified, we dont have enough even half decent Centre Backs for 3 at the back, and we have nobody in the squad at all who is capable of playing wing back. The other thing killing us is Robbos obsession with inverted wingers, it just doesnt work (unless you are an Aubameyang / Salah type) defenders show our wingers the outside and they are neutered. At least playing on the traditional side, Hastie & Seedorf have the pure pace to beat a man and send a ball in, even if crossing isnt great, they will both have several chances per match to hit a decent one!
-
The unfortunate thing is, any other manager (+ management team) in world football would be under serious pressure after 1 win in 11 matches. But Robbo is bulletproof and knows it, and when he does choose to go (because his pal will never sack him), Las will take the job from him so what incentive do they really have to change or improve things? All they need to do is keep with the same old bollocks excuses and everything is rosy. Its no secret I am not a fan of Robbo, and Im not saying he should be getting sacked this week, but Burrows should be doing the proverbial Rab Douglas on him and be looking for answers, because the utter shite we are being served up is as embarrassing as the clubs attempt at ripping the fans off with cheapo attempts at "live streaming" matches Robinson was backed to the hilt with his summer signings, they were nearly all brought in early and in the positions he wanted so there are no excuses for the team looking so unfit, disjointed and generally shambolic. And if he plays Tony Watt at left fucking wing again he needs a fucking slap!
-
Will be interesting how Seedorf & Hastie line up, on their "proper" wings or inverted. Very very poor from Robbo up front. Long is bollocks on his own, Watt is a far superior lone striker
-
Im hoping this post is a joke or typo and you meant Long. Cause otherwise its just bizarre! It would be like saying Scott Fox should be furious that Mark O'Hara is playing
-
Thays why I said RW was the only doubt. Seedorf & Hylton are both poor, but both are "proper" RW players. Hastie as an inverted RW is severely limited
-
I actually felt for Hastie a bit last night. If we play him we need to play to his strengths and thats getting him running on to the ball at pace or getting a pass facing forward where he has space to run into. The few times we did that he actually skinned the young RB, the problem was that most of the time he was chasing back in cover Grimmy and getting the ball with his back to goal, where the County RB just shut him off. Ironically when Seedorf came on we then started putting him into space down the wing to make runs! And those wondering about wether pre season call offs affected us, Ross County played only 3 games, 2 of them within 24 hours, and had another game called off. Why were they then better organized, fitter and hungrier? Weve painted ourselves into a corner with our recruitment. 4-4-2 neuters Turnbull because the wingers arent good enough defensively meaning He & Campbell would be pissing in the wind most games. We cant play 3-5-2 as we now dont have any viable wing back options. So we are limited to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, variations on the same thing essentially. Donnelly started as a RB but Robbo got a hardon about him playing DM. We MUST give Donnelly a run of games at RB now as Grimmy is fucking hopeless, when the commentator is laughing at your inability to complete a fucking shy you know the game is up! We also need to get away from this modern abomination of inverted wingers too. Get Hastie on the left, Seedorf on the right and let them get to the by line. Gk. Trevor Carson (Scott Fox) Rb. Liam Donnelly (Liam Grimshaw) Lb. Jake Carroll (Nathan McGinlay) Cd. Ricki Lamie (Yusuf Hussein) Cd. Declan Gallagher (Bevis Mugabi) Dm. Mark O'Hara (Barry Maguire) Dm. Allan Campbell (Dean Cornelius) Am. David Turnbull (Liam Polworth) Rw. Sherwin Seedorf (Jermaine Hylton) Lw. Callum Lang (Jake Hastie) St. Tony Watt (Jordan White / Chris Long) That above is our best team , Starter & Backup (only RW really a question mark) this is the blueprint we need to start with and work from. Fuck this square pegs in round holes bollocks. Keep the team settled and formation stable, play your best players in their best positions, make sure the players are fucking fit, and stop thinking you are Guardiola. Its not fucking hard really
-
I remember when pre season was about being beasted with fitness work and working on your team shape. Robbo wanted the plaudits for how early we did our recruitment, what was the fucking point when we clearly did nothing but fanny around for a few weeks playing at being professional footballers? Donnelly should be pinned to the dressing room wall by that stupid fucking beard for that pen miss. Hastie got schooled by an 18yo kid making his debut, who in turn was utterly roasted by Sherwin Seedorf!!! Grimshaw should be in the stans for the forseeable From saturday, the team has to be Carson Donnelly, Declan, Lamie, McGinlay O'Hara, Campbell, Turnbull Seedorf, Watt, Hastie
-
Fucking pathetic. Robinson needs to stop believeing his own hype and do his fucking job. That "formation" was an abomination, his subs were just weird, O'Hara hooked at HT? no Campbell? It just looked like it was "chuck as many strikers on and hope for the best". Ross County are a very poor team, but they were fitter and wanted it more. McGinlay had a far better second half, Lang looked decent albeit missed a fucking disgrace of a sitter. Red Card was comical, professional foul, never violent conduct in a million years. Polworth, Donnelly & Long should be fucking hounded in training for those fucking garbage dead ball attempts. But more worryingly for me, from the manager to the players we need a fucking attitude change
-
Am I right in saying we can make 5 subs, but only make those subs on 3 occasions? Ie 1 player subbed, 2 players subbed then 2 players subbed? Baffled by his subs so far if that is the case.
-
Wtf, Lang on for O'Hara? If thats not an injury sub Robbo needs a fucking slap. O'Hara was our best player first half (faint praise I know)
-
He's a left back who can cover CD. To be fair our shape isnt helping, although at least Hastie has been back helping Grimshaw a few times. We are being run ragged by a shite Ross County team who simply are fitter and hungrier
-
McGinlay makes ZFA look like Roberto Carlos from what Ive seen. Hopefully its just time to settle he needs, cause at the moment he looks fucking murder
-
Pish first half. County look fitter, sharper & hungrier and our shape is killing us. Whatever genius thought Turnbull would be effective on the left wing is a fucking idiot
-
Id go Carson Grimshaw, Deco, Lamie, McGinlay Donnelly, Campbell Hastie, Polworth, Hylton Watt (Subs) O'Hara / Donnelly Turnbull / Polworth Long / Watt Lang / Hylton + White, Bevis & Morrison
-
Carson Grimshaw, Deco, Lamie, Carroll Donnelly, Campbell Hastie, Turnbull, Lang Watt The above is , in my opinion, our strongest 11. For Ross County Id anticipate McGinlay for Carroll & Hylton for Lang. Long, White, Polworth & O'Hara on the bench, maybe Lang too if he is fit. Looks strong
-
If Long is wide, we would be as well starting with 10 men!
-
Because Polworth is very obviously shite! Reminds me of the Monty Python sketch. He doesnt add anything....... well , several goals a season, 15-20 assists a season and is comfortable on the ball, but apart from that he offers absolutely nothing!
