This exactly. At this point in the season, 3 points is the MINIMUM Id be expecting. We have a good record at Caley park, they had 4 or 5 injuries and lost their 2 best players (by a mile) in the summer replacing them with nothing, We have been playing well at Fir Park tail end of the season and Utd lost their keeper,centre half and best player in Ciftci,again,replacing with nothing more than lower scottish league players and dutch crocks. We replaced a fair chunk of our team mostly early on, spent cash on fees and 3 year contracts plus bringing in high rated loans from the championship. That and we were entering the season on a high so 3 points as a minimum isnt asking for miracles is it? I dont expect us to win every game but lets be realistic here, the quality in the SPL has probably never been poorer. Were not playing champions league teams here,were a pish team playing other pish teams and apart from the first 3 minutes of the first game, one of the worst pens Ive seen in a long time is the closest weve come to scoring while at the other end weve started the comedy defending early. Baraclough has been given more than any Motherwell Manager since the start of the John Boyle era, handing out 3 year deals,big name signings (for us) transfer fees, bringing his own full backroom team as well as a totally new fitness coach. Defence and Keeper were solid,partly down to them marshalling play effectively and partly as Caley were very toothless. Fletcher was a handful and Marvin was dynamite when he got the ball with space in front. McDonald was poor ,played far too deep. Chalmers was solid for being out of position Still,great start and exciting to think how we may play with Ainsworth & Marvin together

Its still too early to say really. Just now, with 58 year old Lasley &a fragile Pearo backed up by 2 untried kids,our midfield is utter shite. Defence is just as poor if we get 1 or 2 Injuries/suspensions.Pace & Penetration wide with Marv, Ainsworth & DomTom and a decent looking strikeforce will help massively. But we need 1 quality holding midfielder to partner Pearo,a hopefully better keeper than Long (tho Long wd do as a minimum) and a further quality centre half. A good centre mid is the key tho. To go with Pearo & Old Man Las is suicide,not seen enough to Leitch & Cadden to say wether theyd be the answer At the moment,wd be happy with anything above 10th. Cant help but think we missed a trick with the QOTS lads. McShane at Ross County , Carmichael at Hibs, Durnan at Utd + Holt at Dundee as well as Reilly who looks to be on way to Hearts would all do a job for us

I still dont rate him but you have to give credit where its due, even tho motivation wouldnt be an issue for these games, he picked an attacking team in both games and set them perfectly. Also loved his after match interview, instead of the "unlucky rangers,theyre bettter than that" or "the scoreline flattered a little" weve heard so often he said it straight, the score reflected the gap between the teams.

We showed how to beat them and how to lose to them in the same match tonite. When we sat back,only superb goalkeeping,superb defending and a large slice of luck stopped them scoring 3 or 4. But going forward we tore them to pieces. If we set out to contain and play for a draw etc they will score 3 or 4,we go with pace and we can kill it early. the thing thats pissing me off more is that while Lasley is utter shite now, in Pearson, Johnson, Ainsworth, Skippy + Erwin we have a front 5 capable of playing the non existant high tempo, pressing style Baraclough sold to the Directors, backed up by a superb impact player in Sutton. And if we had brought in a decent keeper we`d have a potentially capable defence. Yet in more than 6 months, the "manager" hasnt been capable of instilling that style of play or motivating the players to break into anything higher than second gear. Now were stuck with 2 games where we can either redeem a season of utter shite, or go down in history as the team that THEY beat to get back into the premiership.
